Phil forgot about the speeches and suddenly felt very uneasy on what Tony was going to say when he made his.  Maybe he should have picked Steve to be his best man instead?  Well, hopefully Pepper made Tony promise not to say anything dumb.  Phil took Eliza’s hand and led her to the reception room with a smile on his face.  “You’re amazing,” he said and then looked down at Annina who was close besides them.  “I’m so happy I get to be in both your lives.  I get to be a husband and a father … it’s all I ever wanted.”

Phil stopped and looked at his wife when they reached the doors of the reception room.  “You ready for this?” he asked, praying that tonight their friends would be on their best behavior.  Honestly, he rather just go home now and spend a quiet evening with his new family.

Eliza laughed as Phil was clearly rethinking his choice for a best man and just kissed his cheek. Pepper wouldn’t let Tony do something to really embarrass either of them and she didn’t think Tony would do something like that on their special day. “And I am happy you let us in your life.” Eliza told him. “Me too, me too!” Annina said with a happy smile. Eliza carried her daughter to the reception room and they both nodded at Phil. “Yes. And tomorrow we’ll have a nice quiet night in. Order some takeout, pop open a nice bottle of wine for us and some lemonade for our girl.” She knew Phil hadn’t been that keen on a reception but she had so wanted to celebrate their big day with their friends. And he had complied. That alone showed that he was a good man to her. The moment they walked in, their friends started to cheer and Eliza couldn’t help but laugh as she gently took Phils hand. “Let’s go sit down, then we can find out how bad Tony’s speech is.” She wouldn’t stop teasing him with that for a little while, it amused her to no end.

Phil couldn’t help but tear up when Eliza spoke her vows to him.  They were so sweet and heartfelt and honest.  Just when he thought he couldn’t love her anymore, he did.  He would love and cherish this woman for the rest of his days.  He chuckled through a shaky breath when she slipped his ring on.  She of course had been wearing an engagement ring for several months now, but this was the first time he was getting to wear his own ring.  Sure, he had worn wedding rings before but they were only for undercover work.  This was his own ring now and he would never take it off unless he absolutely needed to.

He lightly scrunched his brows together when Eliza said someone else had vows for him.  Before he realized who she meant, Annina was coming up slowly to him.  Phil smiled and bent down on one knee so he could hear the soft spoken little girl.  Her words went straight to his heart.  So innocent and pure.  A couple of tears fell from his eyes this time and he reached out and brought his new little daughter into his arms. “Sweetheart, I love you too,” he said quietly, kissing her forehead.  Phil would be surprised if there was a dry eye in the entire place right now.

Annika went back to Natasha and Phil stood up again just as the priest said that he could kiss his bride now.  He smiled, taking Eliza into his arms and kissed her.  Their first married kiss.  He they parted he chuckled and looked deeply into her eyes.  “We made it though the hard part.”

Eliza did quite a good job not crying when her daughter spoke, but only because she had known this would happen. Her eyes still got teary though because Annina approving of Phil had always been a huge requirement for her. And now she knew for sure that her daughter was more than okay with having Phil as her stepfather.

As the priest annouced them husband and wife, giving permission to kiss the bride, Eliza chuckled as Phil pulled her close to him and kissed her. She most eagerly returned the kiss but blushed slightly at the whistling and cheering of their friends. The brunette smiled brightly as they parted and shook her head. "You're kidding right? We still have to get through Tony's speech. And Natasha's." She teased. God knows whatever Tony would say would make them blush, no doubt about it. "Come, we should get to the reception." Eliza told him before pecking his lips once more. Her husband... She'd never expected that she'd ever get married. She was glad she'd been wrong. And she was glad nothing had gone wrong during the ceremony because then she would have been slightly pissed off.

“I love you too,” Phil mouthed back to his future wife.  Wow, that nervousness was coming back again as soon as everyone sat down.  In just a couple of minutes he and Eliza were going to be husband and wife.  Not only that he would have a little girl to call his daughter.  A family of his own.  He turned his head to look at the priest who began to speak on the conventions of marriage and Phil tried to steady his trembling fingers.  How embarrassing would it be if everyone saw the Director of SHIELD shaking up here?

Before he knew it the priest was asking Phil for the vows he made for Eliza.  Tony was handing Phil the ring.  Okay.  Don’t pass out.  He chuckled nervously as he took the ring and then looked at his future bride.  “Eliza … words cannot express how happy I am to become your husband.  I can only promise you that I will take care and love you and Annina for the rest of my life.  I’ll be there for you whenever you need me.”  His vows were short and sweet but to the point.  He took her hand and gently slide the ring onto her finger. “I love you.”

Eliza could see Phil's fingers shaking and she was glad to know that he was just as nervous as she was. It wasn't always going to be easy but she was okay with that. When the priest said that it was ready for the vows, Eliza took a deep breath: whatever Phil would say, it would make her cry. No doubt about that. And she was right, she started crying from the moment he was midway but smiled radiantly at the same time. And then, then it was her turn.

After taking the ring from Natasha, Eliza took a deep breath. "I never thought I'd love again but you, you just slipped right past my defenses straight into my heart and you never left. I promise to be always by your side and I will always have your back, no matter what happens. There are no words that could do justice just how much I love you.." She had to wipe away a few tears first before gently taking his hand and sliding the ring on his finger. The priest wanted to continue but she made him wait. "I'm not the only who has vows for you. There is someone who really wants to tell you something." Natasha gently pushed Annina forward and the little girl blushed a little as she went to stand infront of Phil. "You always brought me cookies and you always helps me with homework. You lets me drive with you in Lola, you came to take care of me and mummy when we weres sick... I promise I will be a very very good girl and I likes you because you make mummy very very happy, so I will be there for you together with mummy... I loves you daddy!"

What I love about this in an odd way is that all of these fighting techniques tend to be used by smaller and weaker people. In the first two: you get them off balance, take them by surprise. In three and four: incapacitating someone so they can’t continue to harm you. Five and six: again, surprise and using nearby objects because if they can’t get to you, they can’t hit you. Finally, the last two: overturn their center of gravity, get them off balance, get them to fall. These are all things Steve should have been taught before he went standing up to bullies and they are all things that Peggy Carter made sure he knew when he was big enough to keep bullies from hurting other people.

She taught Steve before he was big. She didn’t know (and if she had an idea, she definitely didn’t know for certain) that he was ever going to get big. She taught little Steve Rogers how to fight, because everyone else at basic training treated his presence like a joke, and because she was hands down the most qualified.

Or course Steve already knew how to fight, but he knew how to fight like a big muscular person, which he wasn’t. Most of his knowledge of fighting came from being hit by other people, by bigger people, by men. You can bet Bucky tried to teach him, but Bucky was big and strong and not qualified to know what would work best for STEVE.

Peggy Carter taught Steve to fight within his abilities, within his limitations, USING his size to his advantage. Be fast, be resourceful, bend your knees and get low and use their momentum against them, and when it gets serious fight dirty.

Peggy Carter taught Steve Rogers to fight like a woman, and that is why he always fucking wins.

The whole morning had been a complete blur for Phil ever since he woke up and realized that today was the day he was getting married.  Married– him!  It’s not like he NEVER wanted to get married it was just the fact that he thought he was way past that point in his life.  Throughout his life he had devoted every waking moment to SHIELD– that was until me met Eliza.  She worked within the organization as well and sort of was like mother hen to all the agents.  She was wonderful, smart, kind, and caring.  She also had a little daughter who Phil was very enamored with.  

As time went by he and she grew closer and closer as work mates and then it slowly developed into something of a great friendship, that friendship blossomed into a romance.  Now here he was standing at the front of a church surrounded by all his friends, waiting to marry the woman he loved so much.

Phil fiddled with his cufflink nervously as he waited for Eliza to make her entrance.  Of all his years being an agent, being on the front lines of danger, this moment right here had made him more nervous than anything he had ever faced.  What if he couldn’t do it?  What if he turned out to be a really crappy husband and father?  The thought made him shake in fear.  Soon the church grew silent and the music started, and Phil looked to Tony Stark who was serving as his best man.  Tony offered him a small nod, and Phil turned back to the doors, watching as Annina entered and began to walk up the aisle, tossing flower petals to the floor.

His nervous smile melted away soon as he saw the little girl and it only grew even more soon as he saw how beautiful Eliza was as she made her way towards him.

It was strange how at ease she suddenly felt as she walked past all these people, but it must have been because of Phil because he was literally the only one she saw. All the others, they were just a blur as she kept her brown eyes fixated on her soon to be husband. This day was only going to get better and it could easily be added to one of the best days of her life so far.

Once Eliza had arrived at the altar, she handed her bouquet to Natasha Romanoff, whom she’d asked to come as a bridesmaid. They were friends and it had been a great pleasure to force Natasha to come. Apparently, the redhead had also dragged Clint Barton and Steve Rogers along with her. She suspected Sam Wilson had just tagged along for the hell of it, considering he was a new friend of Mr. Rogers. Eliza knew Phil must be pleased with Captain America attending his wedding; not many people could say that.

The priest requested everyone to be seated and the look Eliza gave Phil was overflowing with love and though she had promised herself to not cry, in the end she sniffled a little and laughed softly while using the back of her hand to wipe away her tears of joy. “I love you.” she mouthed to him. And god knows she would never stop loving him. No matter what happened.

Eliza was so nervous, constantly fidgetting as tiny white orange blossoms were being braided in her hair. It was so unreal: she was going to marry Phil. After years working together, after being through so much together... They had finally come to this moment.

She smiled fondly as she watched Annina bounce around the room: her daughter had been very excited when given the news and even Eliza hadn’t expected such a good reaction for the little girl. Now she would be the flower girl, something that had pleased the little one very much, and she hadn’t put her little basket down ever since.

Jemma Simmons had helped Eliza a lot, mostly with keeping calm and reassuring her that nothing would go wrong during the ceremony. Skye had helped as well. The brunette was very grateful to them considering they didn’t know that much about her but had still helped her. It was a kindness that Eliza wasn’t familiar with. Eventually, May came to announce that they were all ready and Eliza took a deep breath before following her with Annina. Her daughter went first, no doubt doing her tiny job very seriously, and then it was her turn. And once she put the first step into the church, on the path to the altar, she forgot her worries. She could only smile brightly as the only thing she saw was Phil waiting for her.

Bucky didn’t say anything to that, he instead moved back into the car and took the wheel. “Get out of the driver’s seat.” He ordered moving with his other hand unbuckled her seatbelt. “I’m going to run them off the road.” He explained in a matter-of-fact way.

Eliza was quick to move out of the driver’s seat and buckled up as soon as she sat down on the passengers side. This was such a bad idea, it really really was so terribly bad. “Great, fun. Don’t get us kill in the process.”

The first week back at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was always hectic. Between first years still getting used to finding their way around the school and members of the older years rushing between classrooms arranging last minute subject changes, there was little to no order in the corridors whatsoever.  And so it was little wonder that upon rounding a corner Steve collided with a fellow student, sending both of their books and parchments cascading to the floor.  "Oh, I’m so sorry!" Steve exclaimed, immediately bending down to retrieve both sets of equipment.

Eliza hated this. first years running around and asking stupid questions, transfers running around and asking stupid questions... If she had it her way, she would just never come to school the first month because it was way too chaotic.  The brunette could bet on it that someday somebody would actually get killed in this madness.

And when a guy bumped into her, her day was completely ruined and she was even more pissed than she had been before setting food in this corridor.

"Don't touch me stuff!" Eliza hissed at the blonde boy as she grabbed her own books, holding them tightly against her chest. "I will glue everything you have into the whomping willow if you ever touch my stuff again."
