Yeah so this is going up kinda late, but I wanted to post about one of my weirdest but best Thanksgivings anyway. . My day started with family, and my mom's Thanksgiving breakfast (biological mom, for those of you who know my mama). My mom and my boyfriend, and my brother, his girlfriend, my sister, my brother in law, and four screaming little girls between them, who were a joy to be around, were all there. We had great food, great laughs, and a great time for me to get to know my family even better. . Originally, that was all my day was gonna be. My boyfriend had homework to do, and my mama and dad weren't doing anything for dinner. We were fine with that, went back to the apartment, and relaxed. . Around 6pm, I was gonna go downstairs to warm up some leftover gyoza, and asked @therealishbrysontiller if he wanted any. He looked up at my slowly, stared in silence for a second, and them proclaimed "No." . The next half and hour consisted of quickly driving to Vons, and buying a turkey (marked down to $10!), potatoes, stuffing, and mac n cheese. We were smiling the whole time, talking about how weird it would've been to not have turkey on Thanksgiving. . This was at 7pm at night. . We made it back, and what did we do? We made a whole damn Thanksgiving feast, three hours of cooking between babe and me. We laughed, we listened to music, we even almost burned the kitchen down (unfortunately I didn't get a video of all the smoke). And everything turned out delicious at 11pm on Thanksgiving Day. . All in all, this was a weird day. And I know what it all means historically, that we need to remember our natives and indigenous folk. They deserve all the recognition and restitution in the world. . It was a good day for memories though, for me to bond with my family, my wonderful nieces, for me to watch my man slap a turkey while I skinned potatoes.
