consider this a starter call-- go ahead and give this post a like for a starter, comment for a specific verse, or hit up my IMs if you’d like to plot. lengths will vary but i can at least assure you that these won’t be one-liners.
;; soooo i got on a kick and wrote up a whole bio for wash’s voltron verse. so. that’s a thing now.
i swear actual rping will happen soon.
the thing about a b r o k e n boy is that he’ll never ask for help, never tell you what he needs. never reach out. he’s been broken too many times. r e j e c t e d by too many people.

An eyebrow raises at the answer, Wash’s expression clearly reads ‘unimpressed’. It’s only half a second before the look slips, however, and he sighs, shaking his head.
“You know what, I shouldn’t even be surprised,” he says, almost like it’s his own fault for even asking a question that has such an obvious answer. However, the fact that there’s even a hint of sheepishness in Tucker’s expression is enough to placate him -- it at least means he has some shame.
“That explains so much.”

North’s going about his normal morning routine when he’s alerted to Wash’s presence. He’s already had his morning run, gym session and shower. He now sits fully armored, readying for a hand-to-hand combat session with CT, while enjoying his breakfast. The blond’s got about a half an hour before things start, so he’s taking his time. A black coffee, one sugar, a bowl of fruit, oatmeal and a muffin for the treat. Sitting next to him is a tray with milk, coffee, a banana and some dry cereal. It’s the tray that gets shoved across the table when the other freelancer takes his usual seat.
It’s early, the blond notes, too early for York to even be seen conscious, and a little too early for Wash. “Couldn’t sleep?” he asks, though when he looks up from his data pad he lets out a sigh. The other was wearing a helmet. Clearing his throat, North hopes that it’ll prompt the other to remember the rules that came with sitting with North, but he’s not too certain he expects it.
“I’m sorry Wash,” the taller of the two drawls while looking up with an annoyed glare. “I can’t hear what you’re saying.” It’s childish, but damn effective as far as he’s been concerned with it. “You know the rules at my table, no helmets, or no conversation.” North knows it’s an arbitrary rule, but he wants to see his teammates for their humanity, not just behind their visor. It helped to keep things compartmentalized. They did horrible things underneath all this armor, and some times looking at Wash’s relatively pristine armor he’s forced to relive just how far he’s come since joining the project. Faces kept the thoughts at bay, kept the people underneath the armor alive; the coldness of a visor did not; it incubated them “But yes, I could help you if you’d like. Once you lose the helmet, we can talk details.”
“Oh, uh--” North’s line of inquiry manages to catch Wash off guard, but a glance at the time reminds him that yeah, he is up a little earlier than usual. A half nod, and his eyes drop down to the tray that’s been shoved over for him. As usual, the older Freelancer has gotten him his typical breakfast, which comes as no shock whatsoever, but does manage to tug a hint of a smile out of him. “No, not really.”
He doesn’t take much note of the noise North makes, his gaze only dragged back when the other man speaks again and he finds himself fixed with that glare. It dawns on him what the problem is just as the other goes on to remind him of his rule, which has Wash sitting straighter very suddenly, a faint flush colouring his cheeks. Right. You’d think he’d remember that by now, with how many times North has scolded him for it, but this morning at least, he’d been too focused on spitting his question out to keep it in mind before taking his seat.
“Sorry,” he apologizes in a soft mumble, hands quickly coming up to his helmet where his thumbs catch the clasps and, with a click, releases them. The helmet comes off, and Wash sets it down next to his tray, a hand then coming back up to ruffle through his hair.
“Forgot.” ( Again. ) “But thanks, I’d appreciate it. I know we probably don’t need another person who’s proficient at sniping, but... I figured it couldn’t hurt, you know?” Seeing as he tended to be the replacement if someone with a particular skill set wasn’t available for a mission. Offering North an apologetic and still somewhat sheepish smile, Wash starts pouring milk into his cereal and gives a small shrug. “Just in case.”

On his way back to Command after another recovery mission, Wash was taking his time, not in any particular rush to get back. He’d only been out on very few missions since being reinstated as ‘fit for duty’, so being outside of Command, being away from Freelancer personnel, it was a freedom he hadn’t had in... something like a year and a half, if what the Counsellor told him was true. For all the time that he looked back on that was just a blur, it really could have been that long -- he really didn’t have much way of knowing for certain.
If it was the case though, then it was understandable why finally being outside and alone felt like a goddamn blessing.
Treading his way through the outskirts of some city, his rifle clipped to the back of his armour rather than in his hands -- there wasn’t any need for it out, it was unlikely he’d run into any unfriendlies -- Wash glanced off toward the buildings, the streets, those everyday human things that almost felt foreign to him these days. Idly, he wondered whether it was a populated city, or just another abandoned one on this planet. Seemed like a lot of the latter had been popping up, but then again, he hadn’t exactly traversed the entire planet to know which outnumbered the other.
It was when he was turning his head to return to watching the path ahead of him that he spotted it. Or-- them, rather. No, her. Without realizing it, Wash stopped in his tracks, staring off at the woman. She... She looked familiar. Even from this distance, he felt like he recognized her, but the how was initially unclear. A lot of his memories were fuzzy, to say the least, and it took a bit of digging at them to pull clarity from them. After a few moments however, a name came to him and immediately it clicked in his mind as the one that belonged to that face.
“--Montana?” The question was more of a slip caused by his surprise, but it was called out loud enough to be heard, even with the space between them. Wash didn’t move toward her though, still too dumbstruck and simultaneously trying to drudge up more of what he knew of her. Obviously if he remembered her with a state name, she was a Freelancer, but... the rest would take a bit of work to recall.

Shortly after the Pelican landed safely back in the godforsaken jungle canyon he and the Sim Troopers had been trapped in for far too long, the one he’d hoped he’d never have to see again, Wash set his focus on making sure that everyone was okay. This had naturally started with him checking in on the Reds and Blues, and he discovered that they were, thankfully, all unscathed. With that out of the way, he could turn his attention to the other person he was worried over -- Carolina.
She hadn’t appeared too injured when she’d showed up and they put an end to the Sharkface problem, and she’d been able to use the bubble shield to protect all of them on their escape, but... Carolina was tough. She could be injured and not showing it, and no doubt she had to be exhausted. A fight with that ridiculous pyromaniac and then using one of her armour enhancements so soon afterwards had to have taken a lot out of her. And chances were that she wasn’t resting. They shared that stubborn trait when it came to taking a break to recover, only Wash wouldn’t stand for her avoiding it if he had any say in the matter.
“Carolina,” he greeted as he came up behind her, having left the Reds and Blues behind a few minutes ago to search for her. Thankfully, she was alone, and Epsilon was likely still out of commission after running the bubble shield... That meant that for the first time since she’d found him and the others, they actually had a chance to talk undisturbed. That... added a layer of anxiety to the whole thing -- they hadn’t seriously talked about anything aside from the missions they’d been on since she’d found him -- but Wash tried to shake that off and focus on the matter at hand.
“How’re you holding up?” Though he still wore his helmet, his gaze was sharp through his visor, watching her every movement, prepared to catch any sign of a lie if she were to tell him that she was perfectly fine. That was the answer he was expecting, but he wasn’t going to buy it. “Epsilon still offline?”

Finding that his sleep had been growing restless as of late, which was out of the ordinary for him, Wash had taken to the occasional late-night walk over the last couple of weeks. Though he couldn’t put a finger on what it was that was making sleep so difficult for him, he suspected it might have something to do with the general unrest that could be felt through the whole team. Things were just... They felt different now, and not in a good way. And it didn’t feel like they were going back to normal any time soon.
Walking by the observation deck for the training room, he noticed that the lights were on, which wasn’t usually the case. Not unless someone was using the training room. A quick glance down either side of the corridor, just to check if anyone else was around ( no one was ), he altered his course to enter the room, stepping over to the windows that overlooked the training floor. Sure enough, someone was down there. Unsurprisingly... it was Carolina. He’d heard a little from York about how she’d been taking on extra training when she should be resting, but he’d hoped that it was only an ‘every few nights’ kind of thing as opposed to an every night deal.
Eyebrows tugged together unconsciously with worry, Wash fell into watching the other Freelancer as she trained. She was amazing as ever -- he actually always loved watching her training sessions because they were always so damn impressive -- but the lingering worry he’d been feeling for her since she’d started to change sat heavy in the pit of his stomach. It was still there, ever present, a good hour later when she finished up and exited the floor. Hearing her making her way up, he turned to face Carolina as she entered the observation room.
“Hey, Boss,” he offered, along with a bit of a lame wave. York had mentioned already talking to her at least once about her new, possibly self-destructive, training habits and how it had done no good, but... Wash couldn’t help himself. He’d kept himself quiet for a long while now, not wanting her to be mad at him, but... he was worried about her. She was his friend, and he hated to see her exhausting herself like this. “...Shouldn’t you be sleeping at this time of night?”
