*shows up 15min late with Starbucks* Unf for Eddie! You're a cutie! An' none for Riddler 'cus he's mean.
"Haha! Thanks, Harls."
"If you honestly think that your minute gesture is going to hurt me in any way, then you are obviously suffering from more than one delusion, for I am doing no such thing. Fool.”
"You’re welcome Eddie."
"An’ you’re just jealous because ya didn’t get any coffee. Maybe if you were NICER I’d get ya some more often."
"My dear, I find it very difficult to get along with someone who thinks that an insane lunatic such as Jack is their deal husband. Sorry to disappoint you.”
Harley set down the coffee with a small huff. “Yeah, well, you’re a lunatic,” she muttered, though it lacked much bite. “An’ lunatic or no, Mistah J cares about me. He shows me he loves me.”
〔?〕➝ “нм. ѕoмeнow ι ғιnd тнaт нard тo вelιeve.”
Harley ignored the jibe, starting to fidget with the sleeve around her cup. “Besides, he comes up with great ideas and gags and some real laughs. You just come up with a bunch of dumb riddles anyone with half a brain could get.”
She knew that would probably get her in trouble or set him off, but she was upset dammit and just trying to be nice and who cared if the brainiac liked her he didn’t have to be such a jerk.
〔?〕➝ The Riddler sighed, anger beginning to ebb away at him. He couldn’t understand how Harley had morphed from one of Gotham’s most brilliant minds, into, well, a whore. Surely if one knew how the brain was mainipulated, then they would also know how to prevent their own from experiencing the same treatment?
"yoυ are noтнιng вυт a dιѕappoιnтмenт," He growled, "yoυ ѕнoυld вe aѕнaмed oғ wнaт yoυ нave вecoмe - a ѕerιal ĸιller’ѕ doll."
"A doll huh?" she chuckled humorlessly. She looked back up at him, glaring a little, "Your insults are as lame as your brain teasers, ya know. I've been called a lot worse."
Everyone seemed to think so little of her for loving the Joker, for even working with him. Nobody understood, most people didn't eve bother to hear her out. All the Rogues were too wrapped up in themselves to see anything.
Harley straightened up, snatching up the coffee cup. "As crazy as we all are, at least some of us have empathy, even Mistah J," she snapped before turning to leave. Before she reached the door she stopped. Spinning on a heel she spat, "An' I don't care if I disappoint you! As long as I'm happy, I ain't ashamed of anything!"
