Your Perception of Yourself/The World Affects Your Relationship with Life

Earlier today a person in my class pulled out a chair for me as they walked past my seat. I had gotten up previously to open the door for them. Nothing unusual, however a couple of my friends were astonished that a person would do that for someone else.
I bring this up to remind you that your perception of life affects your life. I know, mind blowing. I’m being serious though! Let me explain.
How you view yourself affects how other people see you. If you carry yourself as a person who offers to help other people, people will come to you when they need help. If you carry yourself as someone who avoids other people (for whatever reason), eventually people will avoid you. If you think to yourself “Man I shouldn’t wear that tube top,” or “Man I could never wear a suit,” you will never wear those items.
If you tell yourself that you are unworthy, or that you’re fat, or that you’re ugly, eventually you will actually believe that. Eventually you will begin to believe that other people see you as that, regardless of if they actually do or not. If you allow yourself to become impossible to reassure, you will never be able to receive reassurance. You cannot trust if you are not willing to take down your walls and preconceived ideas of the world.
If you believe that everyone is just going to hurt everyone else, you will only see the hurt in the world. If you believe that people will not pull out chairs for other people, in the most loving and positive way I can say this, that means there’s something for you to reflect on inside of yourself. You are your greatest obstacle in life. That’s not a bad thing, everyone has something they should probably fix (god knows I do omg). But you can do it. You’ve probably already done it a hundred times by the time you read this.
In a world where negativity stomps on our chests, positivity is up to us to create. Nothing good ever comes free and that includes our own happiness. It is not up to the world to fix our problems, it is up to us to fix our problems so that we can show up for ourselves and those we want to show up for. You have the power to create the life you want.
Everything you need is already inside of you, you just have to look for it and trust yourself to know what you already know.
