That human verse drabble you suggested
@bloodoftheoldworld i am not crying, YOU are crying
Ceri sat in the car on the way back to the apartment feeling numb. Trying to process what had happened. She had set up an appointment with her OBGYN because of severe lower back and belly pains. They had hurt worse than any menstrual cramps she had ever experienced, and it had scared her. The woman had put on a brave face when Eric asked if she wanted him to come with her.
She had told her husband that she would be alright alone, and he should go and enjoy the day out he had planned with Godric. Now she wished nothing more than having taken him up on that offer, if only because she didn’t think she could tell him the news. She hardly could process it herself.
Ceri had started to have spotty bleeding weeks ago, and the doctor had told her to immediately make an appointment if anything unusual had started to occur. She had told her that twenty to thirty percent of pregnancies had bleeding in the first trimester, and the bleeding was nothing to be too alarmed by as half the time everything is perfectly fine after.
It had been the wrong fifty percent... and nothing was breaking Ceri’s heart more than what had happened. It was why she was numb, she did not want to accept what the doctor said. She didn’t want to have to tell Eric... Oh gods, Eric... He was going to be devastated. Thinking about him, about how excited he had been for the baby...
This was going to break his heart.
Finally, tears began to fall from Ceri’s eyes and a sob was choked back. She lifted her feet onto the seat of the car with her, arms around her stomach - - where their baby was no longer growing inside of her. Fate had a sick sense of humor, considering that she was named for the Welsh goddess of fertility and motherhood.
When she arrived home, she refused the help that was offered to her to exit the car. She could not get into the apartment fast enough, and did not bother taking off her rain coat. It was probably best to eat something, but she didn’t want to. Ceri walked over to the sofa and curled into a little ball, waiting for time to pass.
She would have to tell Eric today, it was wrong to keep this from him. Her tears had dried up by the time that she heard the sound of her husband’s return. Eyes red and puffy and tear stains on her cheeks, the woman slowly began to uncurl herself from the ball on the sofa. Her entire body was still hurting, still in the horrible process of loosing their child.
Eric must have seen where she kicked off her shoes, as she heard him ask what the doctor had said as she walked into the kitchen. When he looked over and saw she was still in her raincoat, she could see the worry on his face. This was real, as much as she was wishing that it was some nightmare. She shifted on her feet, unable to bring herself closer to him. “I’m loosing the baby...” her words were a whisper, but it was enough for Eric to hear.
