Incredible. If they ever make a Destiny show, it should just be shit like this. Doesn't even need a plot, just characters talking. Their radio chat is also awesome. Throwback to Drifter's bar!

Stuck between the timelines. 😳 kinda ok with it 👀

*wakes up in a cold sweat at 2:30am* Elsie’s fish is actually a Hive Ghost from an alternate timeline where Aurash, Xi Ro, and Sathona joined forces with the Light instead of the Deep/the worms (or, in a difference parlance, didn’t fail their species’ Choice)
Love that this implies the existence of a “Light Future” timeline where everything’s ok (or better)
#holy shit op. i like this idea a lot. #also id be interested in hearing what u have to say abt that #second lore piece u linked #destiny #elsie #hive
@synnthamonsugar okay here we go!!
So. Consider Diane Duane’s long-running young adult fantasy series, Young Wizards (currently on sale in ebook format here; the author is also on tumblr). You can read more about it on Wikipedia, but the short version is that it centers around two modern human kids, Nita and Kit (plus a gradually expanding cast of family and friends), who are wizards.
Wizardry in this universe is both an art based on language – description and persuasion – and a science – for instance, if you’re going to Mars for half an hour, you’d better know or be able to figure out how much air you need to bring with you. Wizards use their magic to slow down entropy and “preserve what grows well in its own way”, and in doing so aid the Powers that Be (also called the Bright Powers), who fight for the same thing on a much bigger scale. The inventor of entropy, the Lone Power, is the main enemy. He was cast from the Powers’ society for his invention.
You may be able to tell there’s a fair dose of religion wrapped up in there too, though it’s not done at all in a preachy or even an overtly/exclusively Christian way (in the books it’s presented as “a lot of religions and traditions, Christianity included, have retained their understanding of these things enough to build their belief system on them and fight against entropy even without wizardry”).
So now that you have the backstory: the reason I linked both VIII: Leviathan an IX: The Bargain in my original post is because every species gets a Choice.
This usually takes place right about the time the species gains sentience, and the Choice is whether to ally (broadly speaking – there are almost always individual exceptions) with the Powers that Be or with the Lone Power. If you’re familiar, the story of Adam and Eve is said to be one telling of humanity’s choice. Typically both sides of the argument make their case, whether personally or through a mortal proxy; a common theme is that the Lone Power’s argument is more attractive, more persuasive, and louder than its counterpart. Then usually there’s some debate with one/both of the Powers or amongst the mortals; and then the species’ leaders decide.
THIS PROBABLY SOUNDS FAMILIAR.
In “Leviathan” and “The Bargain”, Aurash, Xi Ro, and Sathona were not persuaded by the Leviathan and its promises of a harder but kinder way. They, dove to the Deep, and chose death, the worms, and the sword logic. In doing so they defeated the harsh environment of Fundament and their natural enemies, became the warrior Hive, and gained immortality (or at least the best fighters did, as per the sword logic)…but, of course, they gave up a lot of other things instead. I think most, if not all, of us would agree that they got the raw end of that deal.
BUT. Another tenet of the Young Wizards series is that hope is never lost. The Powers that Be still want the Lone Power to repent and rejoin them someday, and, as the saying goes, life finds a way. Even in worlds where the Lone Power has won seemingly completely, there’s always a chance for change, and that change can be monumental indeed. (You can also sort of see this tenet in the way the Traveler, via the Ghosts, raises dead people to become its champions).
So maybe there’s another timeline where the three Krill listened to the Leviathan and chose the Sky instead, and in doing so became Guardians – for a while, at least. And maybe Elsie’s been there. And maybe she befriended and brought the Krill equivalent of a Ghost (because why would the Traveler make little pointy robots for them? fish fit the aquatic theme) to our timeline.
I have a couple of competing theories on the specifics of what we’ll do with the fish once it’s in the game. But we’ve already allied with previously hostile forces in recent seasons…so maybe the fish is here to help us do the same with some of the Hive, effectively helping them rewrite their Choice and bringing them, very belatedly, to the Sky.
Hope & Vale
More Ghost things:
Ghosts who refuse to heal their Guardians when they’re mad (in non-critical situations)
Ghosts who ship their Guardian and are *vocal* about it
Ghosts who get passive-aggressive about who has a better Guardian (grandmas at a knitting circle style)
Ghosts who insist they want to try out tons of ridiculous hobbies, or try to find some to do with their Guardian
Ghosts who sneakily transmat things they like back to the ship, much to the surprise of their Guardian
Cuddly Ghosts who press up against their Guardian while they sleep
Ghosts who like their own little cubby/space to spend time while their Guardian sleeps (it’s fully decorated)
Ghosts who insist they’re better than their Guardian at interior decorating
Ghosts who like to wander the City alone while their Guardian is on the Tower taking care of things
Ghosts who remind their Guardian to sleep/eat/hydrate/fix their posture
Ghosts that bonk their shells against their Guardian in frustration or playfulness
Ghosts who get sick of it when their Guardian is in love
Ghosts that hate each other, but their Guardians are best friends or lovers
Ghosts that are best friends, but their Guardians hate each other
Ghosts without Guardians silently choosing a Lightless who they get along with, pretending they’re a pair for a while
Ghosts who stick with their Lightless friend until the end, hoping – always hoping – that it might change
Ghosts without Guardians that help look after the refugee children with/without parents, hoping to help in some way
Ghosts that are just. Really bad at reading the room, much to the chagrin of their Guardian.
Ghosts who don’t care what their Guardian thinks, because who’s been alive longer? That’s right. It’s Ghost.
Ghosts who made a bunch of friends (Guardian or Lightless) before they found their Guardian, so everyone forgets the new Guardian is there the first few times.
Ghosts who are WAY too proud of their Guardian, constantly embarrassing the Guardian who just wants to turn in bounties.
Ghosts who begrudgingly rate each new outfit/color as their Guardian plays fashion
Ghosts who are *way* too into the fashion show, and their Guardian is begging them to let it go.
Ghosts trying to sing with their Guardian – who also can’t sing.
Ghosts who adamantly want a pet
Ghosts who insist they can’t have a pet, because it’s already hard trying to keep the Guardian alive (and they get multiple shots at it)
Ghosts that get huffy when they’re upset, but not vocally. You just see their shells twisting and puffing in and out.
Ghosts betting things between each other (Hey, I bet you this shell that my Guardian will get more kills than yours)
Ghosts that tut at their Guardian over every little scratch and bruise out of worry
Ghosts who always use some of their down time in the City to mourn those lost. Some of those that their Guardian never knew, because they lived and died before Ghost found their Guardian.

me minding my own business: heehee swan au [remembers mara has telepathy with other reefborn or whatever] hey what the fuck
bonus:
Sjur Eido, from inventing war to pursuing peace
Three theses:
Sjur Eido started the Theodicy War.
Contrary to popular belief, her hesitation to kill Mara Sov doesn’t come from Mara’s “thoughtless grace and beauty”
She had learned Eliksni language and customs in an attempt for a diplomatic end to the Reef Wars and, potentially, partially redeem her past sins. Unfortunately, she was killed too early.
The first thesis is the one in which the third hinges upon. The evidence is circumstantial, but there is quite a bit.
I. The second crime ever committed
In Fideicide II we have this passage:
One of the 891 fell today, shot down by a matter laser, a coherent boson weapon: There was almost nothing left to burn. Matter lasers are the kind of appalling maltech weapon Alis thought she’d locked up in the Shipspire’s vaults. She’d armed a few of her Paladins with them, just a few—women she couldn’t bear to lose…
The thought that one might have defected to the Diasyrm breaks her heart.
And in Imponent III:
Historians were called to the court with bouquets of sweet flowers and grant money to speak of Sjur Eido. “She was one of Queen Alis Li’s Paladins, but she was an Eccaleist, who believed that we would one day be called to repay the gift of our awakening.”
There we have our defecting Paladin - and this was common knowledge after the war, that Sjur Eido was an Eccaleist and that she had been a Paladin. Nowhere it is said that this was the first shot fired in the War, though, but put a pin in that.
Flash-forward to Tyrannocide III, when the Awoken were already in the Reef, and Mara is starting to plant the seeds for her katabasis. Before she walks to her death, she confesses her worst secret to Sjur, both immersed in vacuum, isolated from everything else in a spacewalk.
“Sjur, I have this secret, this thing I did, and I don’t know if anyone can know it without hating me forever.”
“I had a secret too,” Sjur reminds her. “The thing I did…”
“It’s nothing compared to mine. Nothing at all.”
As mentioned before, it was a known fact that Sjur was a Paladin, a deserter, and an Eccaleist. So what could her secret be, if not that she had been the first killer?
(Which is pretty fitting, given the parallels between the Osmium Court and the Awoken Royal Family. Oryx and Uldren, navigators. Mara and Savathûn, mistresses of lies. Sjur and Xivu Arath, incarnations of war)
II. Does blood wash blood?
The Theodicy War ends with the disappearance of the Diasyrm. This is the motivation for Sjur to declare her intention to murder Mara Sov:
Now in the court of one of the Scribes, there appeared a woman of stellar height and furious wrath, armed with a bow that could be strung only if she twined it around her body and used her whole mass to bend it. “I am Sjur Eido,” said the woman, “and I accuse Mara of the ancient murder of my lady the Diasyrm. In my saddle, I have a weapon with only one death remaining. Take me to Mara, and I will deliver it.”
The Scribes consulted and said to each other that this foul murder might prevent another Theodicy War. So they gave Sjur Eido all their knowledge to hunt Mara.
And here comes, in Imponent II, the infamous paragraph:
Sjur Eido deduced who among the Queen’s court must be a disguised Mara Sov. She followed the hooded figure to her laboratory and watched Mara go to work soldering a makeshift bolometer to search for signs of primordial gravity waves. Sjur Eido’s fury and grief whetted themselves against Mara’s thoughtless grace and ancient beauty, until at last her heart unseamed itself and spilled its hot blood in a shout. “Mara Sov!” she cried, throwing down her maltech matter laser between them. “I cannot live while you live, but I cannot bear to kill you. I challenge you to a duel to the agony. I will fight your most beloved companion to the death and leave you forever maimed or else die in the attempt.”
This can be easily read as “Sjur was too mission-abandonly gay to proceed with her vendetta”, but I think this is a superficial reading. Keep in mind the author of the Marasenna is Mara herself, and she warns you that
[a]ll things told, all truth revealed, if through mist and mystery. If you have grace, then see our sorrows, but swallow back your tears. We were made to pay this price. I led us to our fate.
Seek me in my place. Hear these whispers from the lips of Queen-Egged God.
This has passed through the filter of Mara Sov’s authorship. And later on Sjur Eido would become her lover, confidant, and closest thing to an equal she has had during her reign. Sjur’s internal turmoil, I think, is the kind of thing she would filter out of a history of the Distributary Awoken.
What kind of internal turmoil? The one that comes with having so much blood on her hands - the blood of immortals, no less, of immesurable value. Alis Li (well, Mara Sov, actually, but she does not know that yet) might be the biggest criminal by Eccaleist standards for having created the possibility of suffering and death, but Sjur has brought that potential into the material. She is a murderer (the first murderer, but I will come to that later) and she has had time to mull that over.
Maybe she could not kill a defenseless person in cold blood.
Maybe she wanted someone who could fight back and kill her all along. There is no evidence for that, this is true, but this would give Mara all the more reason to draw a veil over her lover’s motivations - Sjur’s mental health struggles were hers and hers alone.
3. Restitution and atonement
So we now have asserted Sjur as the first murderer in Awoken history, and as someone who regrets these actions. This contrasts with the end of her arc, when she has learned Eliksni customs and language to, presumably, understand them for a potential peace between their peoples.
In Misraaks, we read about her capture of a surly young Vandal who tries to kill himself by dashing off a cliff, and to take Sjur with him, before being a prisoner of war.
Drawing two fractal knives from sheaths on her thighs, she makes a perfect ireliis bow before him. Thunderstruck, he sits up straight. Stares.
“Not good?” she asks, and tries again.
Furious confusion takes him. This is some kind of trick. Blasphemous mockery. “Iirsoveks,” he rumbles.
She shakes her head. “Nama.” Sheathing one of her knives, she holds out her free hand with her fingers spread in supplication.
He draws his chin toward his throat with this fresh betrayal, narrowing his secondary eyes. It speaks!
Slowly, without breaking eye contact, she lays her other knife on the ground between them. The blade points toward her boots. He watches her every movement. How many secrets have the flesh-lovers betrayed, that this creature can make peace like a cringing drekh before his kel?
She taps two fingers against her cuirass. “Sjur,” she says slowly, then she points at him.
Honor-bound even as he simmers in scandal, he replies, “Misraaks. Velask, Si-yu-riks.”
“Mithrax,” she repeats, then grins. “Velask, Mithrax. And welcome! Let’s have a look about, shall we?”
She is trying so hard to meet Misraaks in his terms, despite the power imbalance! This is, of the three theses, the flimsiest one, but I think it is a very satisfying end for her arc. She is not redeemed, if she could ever be, for starting the Theodicy War - but she tries. And in trying, she has made an indelible impact upon a young Vandal who would become the Kell of House Light.
the cool thing about sjur is that she gets a whole ass character arc by negative space
Ok in this part, when Sjur goes to Mara with 100% murderous intentions. The text wants us to interpret that moment as Sjur being “too gay to function” but, it can be interpreted as Mara subverting Sjur’s expectations of what that master puppeteer would look like.
Mara had been cultivated this image of mystery on purpose. She lives “alone on the forest hills above the Feather Barrens.” (Heresiology). And this is what Osana says: “The Eccaleists are her creation,” her mother tells her brother. “The Diasyrm was her pawn. She allowed the Theodisy War because she was afraid we’d be too comfortable here—also so Queen Alis would need her help politically. Mara couldn’t afford to be the most radical dissident. She had to seem moderate for her beliefs to thrive. Isn’t that right, Mara?”
Mara puts a hand into the warm soil to keep herself from slumping in relief. Mother doesn’t know it all. (Heresiology).
So Sjur follows a disguised Mara and she finds her doing, well, Mara stuff, normal stuff. She’s working, like she worked in the Yang Liwei:
“Mara go to work soldering a makeshift bolometer to search for signs of primordial gravity waves.”(Imponent II)
And then Sjur does her dramatic entrance (because, again Marasenna is a biased text.) Ultimately they’re on the same side. Essentially they’re both Eccaleists.
Oh, good catch! This does look like the moment in which Sjur realizes Mara is a fellow Eccaleist, in light of this.
Let’s Talk About Osiris and O14
So. O14 was confirmed by one of the writers at Bungie a while ago. The person in question writing them is Robert Brookes, a bi man. He made a Twitter thread about representation and why it matters so much. And his thread hit home for a lot of people, myself included. I rarely see myself or my friends represented in media, and Destiny 2 has been a huge uplifting franchise for me to finally see myself and my friends be represented in.
“I’ve been writing Saint and Osiris as gay since I started working at Bungie, because that’s who they were before. They are private and nuanced characters. There was never a space in which to unequivocally state their identities.” - Robert Brookes
One of the stories as of late that has been canonically written in the universe involves Saint and Osiris having an altercation. Specifically, this happens a little while after Osiris has suffered the loss of his closest companion and his Ghost, Sagira. This understandably has caused him a lot of stress and trauma. She knew him more innately than either his partner or Ikora did, seeing as well, she was his Ghost after all. She sacrificed herself to save him from being killed by the High Celebrant of Xivu Arath. She was also his only companion in the Infinite Forest on multiple occasions, for the duration he was in there until the Young Wolf helps him destroy Panoptes.
This already compounds onto the grief he felt believing he lost Saint in the Infinite Forest, and unease he felt for Saint after his return, worried that he might lose Saint again. They struggle to reconnect at first - it’s a slow, agonizing burn. It begins with letters and poems. Then they meet up more in person. Drifter even makes a comment during the Prophecy dungeon that:
“Well, call me old-fashioned, but if I broke time to save my knight in shining armor, I’d want ‘em to stop foolin’ around and climb my tower. But, uh, word on the wind is, no one’s seen ‘em meet in person.“
This shows that even Drifter notices how long it’s taking for them to reconnect up until Immolant, pt.1 is written. Eris defends them shortly after by saying “It doesn’t mean that they don’t.” which is true. And this is perhaps a reflection of the community itself as well as Robert Brookes’ thread he made about Saint and Osiris – for some time, people just Did Not Realize they were dating, despite all of the hints and information provided to us without overt gestures. So, at some point it had to be confirmed canonically for some of us who struggle to read into context clues or outright deny them being in love.
So then, at the beginning of Season of the Hunt, Osiris loses Sagira, written in Immolant, pt.2:
“"What are y—"
“Shut up! Listen to my words!” Her iris is bright with Light. “There are great things still left for you; don’t lose hope in the darkness.” She is luminant.
Osiris breathes the word, as if he could hold it back: “No.” He would understand in time. She had seen it.
Blinding Light erupts from Sagira’s core as she splits apart. A wave of Light surges and tears across the chasm. Her sacrifice cleanses every trace of Xivu Arath’s presence. The sigil: erased. The cryptolith that supported her projection: destroyed.
Osiris draws breath. Alone.
The aegis of Sagira’s Light stands strong in the shadow of the Pyramid for days.“
At this very point in time there are many conversations going on about Osiris and Saint-14, mainly centering this lore from the In Memoriam Shell:
“Without waiting for a response, he turned away. Saint’s iron arm shot out and grabbed him by the elbow.
“Is that all this is to you? An experiment?” Saint spat, trying and failing to keep his voice down. He couldn’t contain himself any longer. He’d waited for days for a response. Fretting over the silence, but forcing himself to give his comrade space. “So what am I then? Your assistant? Just because Sagira is gone—”
“Enough,” Osiris snarled, yanking his arm back. “Never speak of her to me again. Understand?”
Saint stepped back, immediately awash in regret. His mind raced. He should say something, anything, to make it better. To put things to rights. But what?
Before he could come up with an answer, Osiris spoke: “Continue the Trials or don’t. But if you don’t have the stomach to collect that data, someone should. It could be key to our survival. All of ours.” And with that, he strode off.
Saint watched as Osiris disappeared into the throng. The tension in him was gone.
All he felt now was the agonizing wound left by the wire’s snap.“
To summarize what is going on here, the entirety of the Trials of Osiris weapons, ships, and sparrows’ lore all connect into a story where Saint-14 discovers that Guardians are becoming corrupted by the Darkness and using that corruption in the Trials of Osiris. He attempts to bring this up to Osiris, who is cold and disconnected after the loss of Sagira, who simply says to him to “take notes next time”. This culminates into the fight we witness written in the In Memoriam Shell’s lore.
This is, by far, the ONLY fight we see them have in-lore, represented in a Single lore tab, although we do get it from three different perspectives (In Memoriam, Winds of Change, Paradigm Shift) which are all very important to consider.
Now, people have been saying this one single fight we see them have is enough for Osiris to be considered toxic or abusive towards Saint. But I am here to say that that statement is wrong, and here’s why!
First I’ll start off by, again, reminding everyone this: Osiris suffered a GREAT loss just a few months prior to this lore tab being introduced. Sagira, his closest companion, his Ghost, his connection to Light, someone he relied on to keep him from doing things he regretted… She’s GONE. And we have seen, not just from how he reacted to the loss of someone extremely important to him, but also to believing he lost Saint-14 in the Infinite Forest (a la Season of Dawn and bits of the Curse of Osiris events)… He does not deal with trauma the way some of us would. And that’s kind of okay - everyone deals with trauma differently. He deals with it by putting himself into a different headspace, by working his worries away, albeit somewhat unhealthily, and Ikora knows this is how he deals with trauma and makes a plea for Zavala to help Osiris somehow, as seen here from A Play Of Shadow And Light:
“"Ikora?“ Zavala’s voice draws her back to reality.
“He wants to help.” Ikora forces herself to look at Zavala. Let him see her disquiet, her desperation. Anything to convince him. “He needs to help.”
Zavala meets her gaze. For a moment, neither of them say a word. They simply look into each other’s eyes, into the eyes of the only other being with the weight of the Sol system bearing down on their shoulders.
At last, he breaks the silence. “Very well.““
Osiris was Ikora’s mentor. She is one of the other closest figures in his life, even after returning from exile, she’s the one he goes to before he will go to Saint. They hold a student and teacher type of relationship, but they also hold a great friendship and immense respect for one another. Also, in the first part of the same lore bit she knows Osiris needs space and time to heal and offers to talk with him whenever he is ready.
So, why are people calling Osiris toxic or abusive for accidentally lashing out at Saint? He clearly does not like to be reminded of Sagira, and it happened to be a slip of the tongue. Saint made a mistake, and as noted, he REGRETS it. He regretted saying what he said to Osiris. Plus, again I must mention this is the first, and only, fight we see them have in lore. There are no other lore entries with either of them where they are fighting before this lore entry was introduced to us; in fact, most of their lore entries together are quite adorable!
Multiple times throughout lore bits with both Saint-14 and Osiris we are made sure it is known that they are an incredibly private couple. Osiris has been mentioned by multiple characters to be a private person himself, who needs a lot of space. He deals with his trauma differently than how some people believe he should - and I find that to be one of our problems. Saint-14 respects this space, seeing as in In Memoriam he does not push Osiris further, and instead steps away from him and goes to Ikora later on in A Play Of Shadow And Light:
“"But… he has changed.” Saint’s shoulders slacken. “Ever since the Young Wolf dragged him off the moon, it feels like a part of him stayed there.” Saint shakes his head. “He is both obsessed and empty.”
Then, quietly, he adds, “He would not even let me comfort him.”
“Osiris has never handled grief well.” Ikora gives his arm a squeeze, but leaves her hand there in reassurance. “You know the roads that can lead him down.”
“Yes,” Saint agrees. “He is already planning. Researching old records of the Speaker, Cryptarch texts on Ghosts. I worry so much, but I cannot tell him so. You know how he would react.”
Ikora squeezes Saint’s arm again. “Saint?”
The Titan turns to regard Ikora; wordless acknowledgment of her question.
“This isn’t easy to ask, but you know Osiris better than anyone.” He already knows the question by the palpable concern in Ikora’s eyes. “Is… Osiris a danger to himself?”
Saint looks away. He can’t bear to see that look in her eyes. He can barely give her his honest answer.
“I do not know.”
Because it hurts too much.“
So, pretty much everyone knows and understands how Osiris works, to a degree. Despite their doubts we all know and understand Osiris quite a bit. He can be a loving, doting person when not being a dry wiseguy, but we know trauma hits him very hard. We know it can cause him to say things he doesn’t mean. And we know that, instead of characters treating him like he’s awful or evil for expressing his anger, we know they still treat him with respect and worry about him, and they still love him despite him showing his “ugly” side.
And yet some fans have taken to calling him abusive or toxic DESPITE this knowledge. His closest confidants he’s interacted with after his loss of Sagira in lore have been nothing but understanding and kind to him. Even Crow, when he makes this slip-up during one of the War Table discussions, apologizes.
In the Paradigm Shift sparrow lore entry, this exchange occurs, reflecting how he feels about Osiris as well as others:
“"Help carries no debt, friend. We must uplift each other without expecting a return. Except Banshee,“ he added, almost seeming to wink at them. “Who owes me Glimmer.”
Crow laughed, utterly disarmed. He was surprised at how much he liked Saint. And how much he wanted to be liked in return. What could this affable character possibly have in common with an intimidating figure like Osiris?
Outside of his thoughts, he realized Holliday was talking. He tuned back in just as she said, “…things gotta be equitable. Don’t you think?”
Suddenly, Saint’s demeanor shifted. “I do not think so,” he said soberly. “In battle, when your comrade stumbles, you carry them until they are strong again. Even if you, too, become wounded. This is only way to move forward…”
Something about his tone struck a chord in Crow. It occurred to him that Saint and Osiris must’ve known each other for a long time. What was it like, the assurance and ease of having someone else to watch your back like that? To fight side by side for the same cause? He ached to know.“
This explicitly states Saint has no problem standing side by side with someone who is fighting with trauma. He does not require anything in return; he is patient and kind, he watches Osiris’ back even when his lover doesn’t realize it. He and Osiris will go through it together, whenever he is ready to confront the pain of it all. And despite everything, he LOVES Osiris. They have been extremely close for much longer than Guardians have been exposed to in our faces. Saint-14 intimately respects his lover’s need for space, but is carrying him the entire way until he can stand on his own, even if it takes a while for him to admit he needs help getting up.
No relationship is perfect, even if you’ve known your significant other for years. And not only romantic relationships, but platonic ones as well. I’ve known several friends for many years now and our friendships have never been perfect, but I still love them because they give me the space to be myself, and they do not treat me like I am awful when I express my emotions. And as someone who also has experience dealing with multiple abusive relationships and traumatic events, Osiris is definitely not an abuser in the slightest. He is a traumatized man experiencing pain and he is expressing it when triggered. That is a normal reaction that happens when we traumatized folks are triggered. To say Osiris is abusive for expressing a negative reaction to a trigger of his is to be disrespecting Saint’s patience and love for him, and to be disrespecting other traumatized individuals whose response to their triggers is to lash out aimlessly without meaning to do so.
In conclusion (or well your friendly TL;DR), Osiris is not toxic or abusive for expressing anger. He is not “ugly” or “evil” for getting hurt whenever someone mentions Sagira to him. No characters in-universe treat him like he deserves to be admonished for expressing his pain; they give him the respect and space he needs until he feels ready to confront his pain again. One single fight is NOT enough for anyone to decide Osiris is an abusive or toxic person for expressing anger at someone mentioning something that triggers him.
A healthy couple is not defined by never fighting; a healthy couple is defined by forgiveness. And Saint is clearly regretting what he said, and has forgiven Osiris for lashing out in response. I wouldn’t be surprised if Osiris forgives him soon.
My best interpretation of Crow’s character is that in a date scenario he’d act all confident and charming and all of that.
But,
at some point,
inevitably
Glint will laugh and tell you that before the date, the bird boy spent like 45 fucking minutes fussing with his hair and outfit and being really nervous about it. Like legit 20 minutes allocated solely to contemplation if the hood should be up or down, wondering which would make him look “cooler”.
hsgadhjasd I had this SAME thought (and that’s how my yw is too so it’s double the ridiculousness lmao). something about the lines from the wrathborn hunt about crow *secretly* attempting to use his light to do the things the yw can do (and getting embarrassed when glint exposes him), and his other lore text where he hopes his deeds are enough for the city guardians to accept him… he comes across like he cares a lot about making a good first impression, and it’s just so damn cute
some grubby drifter doodles, man's covered in grease and dirt and alien guts at any given moment
Ok, I figured it out.
Gunslingers:
I’ve seen the cries for Titan and Warlock in the notes, and while I can’t help with Titans, I can help with Warlocks.
@houseofmcallister
Dawnblades/Sunsingers
The most likely to need, but not necessarily wear, glasses, thanks to the Well of Radiance, the Dawnblade, and Radiance from before the Red War all being blindingly bright. In particular, older Lights that used Radiance many times can’t see as well because they’ve blinded themselves. Imagine staring at the sun from the inside, and you’ll get the idea.
Tactically intelligent; they can’t recite gun specs and damage figures like a Titan, but they can provide much-needed buffs at critical times, maximizing the impact they can have on the field.
Very loud. Easily the loudest type of Warlocks, on the whole; the job of support falls to them, and they need to coordinate to do it properly.
Scarily aware of everyone around them; they can feel the eyes watching them when they’re in the spotlight. That being said, because they’re always on fire, they lift their own body temperature significantly. This means that everything feels cold to them.
Hearing is average for Guardians. They won’t hear you whispering from beyond ten feet.
Everything smells smoky and/or singed. Don’t let them cook if you don’t like carbon.
Balance is quite good- a side effect from having flaming wings disappear mid-flight is learning how to land on your feet properly. They can stride a balance beam with absolute confidence, but not a tightrope.
So, so, so social. This doesn’t mean they’re socially adept, of course, but they love having friends around.
And naturally, a team is where they feel most at home. Preferably, a six-person team (when the Vanguard let 12 people run raid-class operations together, they actually threw a party.)
Not quite as flashy as…. any of the Hunters, but most certainly the flashiest of the Warlocks. They’re the ones that give thespian bows.
I repeat: LOUD. And easy to find in a crowd.
They’re not at all quiet, physically or even mentally. There’s always a new project to work on.
Oh, they also are perpetual social butterflies. They know everyone you need to know, everyone you want to know, and even a few you don’t. They make great couriers because of this, able to get messages from A to B in record speed.
Outgoing, optimistic, caring, and usually very touchy-feely. They’re the ones that give you bear hugs.
They also are prone to hot flashes and fevers. They’ll be fine, of course, but stay nearby: They need someone to talk with/at.
Voidwalker
Those glasses are probably fake. They’ve got excellent vision. It makes eagles hang their heads in shame.
Brutally rational. They’re the ones that you ask for realistic assessments of situations. You usually won’t like the answer.
The quiet ones. They hide their secrets and their words behind masks of lies- or do they? The answer is, no, not usually. But they can make you just unsure enough to think they do, what with all their whispering.
Can track Void signatures, but not nearly as well as Hunters. They’re better off following the Nightstalkers and guesstimating where the enemy is going to go. They probably won’t notice you staring, but they’ll feel your presence behind them. Usually.
They have less-than-average hearing, with the Void constantly whispering in their ear. Sometimes, they whisper back.
Excellent senses of smell and taste; they can tell you the compounds in your food.
Poor balance, but good at recovering their balance. A side effect of having Nova Bomb and Nova Warp on their side.
Cold, uncaring, and prefer to work alone. They don’t like all these people being around.
Wait, their idol/crush/significant other is going? Ugh… fine. They’ll go. But only because their idol/crush/so is, too. And they have an okay time; but their I/C/SO made it all worth it. They’ll give anything to protect them.
They’re incredible at both stealth and ambushes, thanks to the power of Void disintegrations hiding bodies, their innate ability to step lightly, and the incredible destructive power of Nova Bombs.
Everyone gets a sense of dread when a Voidwalker is pissed. Never make one of them angry; they’re just like their Super. Slow to charge, devastating when released.
Stormcaller
20/20 vision, even in the worst of conditions. They can pick out targets that most other people will never see: That doesn’t mean, however, that they can hit them.
The most anecdotal, and the one that learns the most from history. Just like hurricanes, the ‘what is’ is defined by ‘what was’.
Not quiet, but not loud: Instead, they’re silencing. Spellbinding. A Stormcaller speaks, and you listen well.
The best place to hide from a Stormcaller is in plain sight: They sweep by too fast, checking all the crevasses, missing the obvious by miles.
Everything smells like light mist, like a foggy morning sunrise, like a rainstorm over a field of jasmine.
Well-balanced and light on their feet. The storm never stays still for long.
If you want to join up, that’s okay: Just don’t get in the way, and you’ll get along well enough.
Work well enough together, or endear yourself to a Stormcaller, and you’ll receive an “Effective Adoption.” This means that your Stormcaller will raise hell itself to find you should you go missing, break armies that threaten you, and fight in your place if your Ghost might be threatened. Stormcallers don’t take familial bonds lightly.
Not particularly stealthy; more of a raider, “hit fast, hit hard, fall back” type of warrior. And they do hit fast: They’re the fastest of the Warlocks. The Sunsingers contest this, but their SRL championships speak for themselves.
Much like the storms they channel, their emotions come at lightning speed. Irritation quickly leads to anger; happiness to bliss; interest to obsession.
Though this is by no means a rule for all Stormcallers, many are poets, authors, and so on, following in the footsteps of Lady Skorri.
This season must be so stressful for the Young Wolf. Their loyalties are being pulled in so many different directions.
They’re watching Crow make new friendships and that is great but they are literally lying to everyone about him. So that is just a ticking time bomb in the back of their mind.
Crow still doesn’t know the full story about what he did in a previous life or who ended his previous life. Everyday he must be getting closer though. So that’s nice...
They’re keeping secrets from Zavala because Osiris says so and well Osiris is important to them too so...
Then Zavala is all “You know what keep this pretty gun. They can’t confiscate what they don’t know about.” He’s being so nice despite the huge amount of pressure he is under and once again they are just lying to him.
Saladin is talking down to Crow.
Crow is talking back to Saladin.
The Red War keeps getting brought up, and along with what they experienced on the Glykon, it is like ‘Here is a reminder of your top 5 traumatic life experiences’.
Has anybody asked them if they’re ok?
Destiny's lore writers straight up decided to murder me this season. 🥺💖
