Howâd you know where I was?
harry potter: houses

THE NEXT GENERATION OF WITCHES
@hogwartsschoolnetâ November Event: Quidditch - Slytherin Member Content
âAs seven oâclock drew nearer, Harry left the castle and set off in the dusk toward the Quidditch field. Heâd never been inside the stadium before. Hundreds of seats were raised in stands around the field so that the spectators were high enough to see what was going on. At either end of the field were three golden poles with hoops on the end. They reminded Harry of the little plastic sticks Muggle children blew bubbles through, except that they were fifty feet high.â

And Iâve missed you, Theo thought. But she didnât say it. That would only hurt Wynn further, and sheâd already hurt her sister enough. Unintentionally, yes, but that didnât lessen the harm sheâd done.
âIâm starting to forget Mum,â she said instead, unaware that Wynnâs thoughts had strayed along the same lines. They didnât talk about their mother much; their memories of the woman had diverged sharply on that awful day so many years ago, and Theo had never wanted to push any of her pain and grief onto her sister. Wynn had grieved, too, after all.
She spoke softly as she continued, saying, âI canât remember her voice anymore. I wish⊠I wish I had a pensieve. Then I could at least see other peopleâs memories of her, even if I canât have my own.â
Eyes met her older sisterâs and the dropped in shame. Mum. Merlin, she didnât even what to think about what her mother would think of her decisions. Wynn brought shame to their family, that was the agreement, was it not? Being sorted into Ravenclaw was not her downfall but her decision to ally herself against her own family. It wasnât intentional. She just⊠did not want that connect to the dark arts. Not when she could sense how itâd destroy her from within, how it was tearing their family apart even if the rest of the Notts seemed oblivious to its effects.Â
Maybe it was better for the younger girl to forget. Wynn felt like she forgot a lot, chose to force away. She could not remember the man who once read to them before bed and fostered their magical talents because if she did she would experience such shame and regret and hatred⊠Never hatred towards her father, never that. But hatred towards herself, hating what she had done to their relationship with her stubbornness.Â
She had no response for that having less memories of both parents in comparison to Theo. It seemed her act of pushing the guilt away had cost her memories of the better times as well. âMaybe... we could find a pensieve? We could look around. A lot of people had known mum Iâm sure someone⊠someone could share their memories, right?â
Harry Potter is sitting at his desk, a bottle of fire whisky in his hand. He tries to smile as he thinks of his children and his wife and how good the world is now, but he canât. Instead, he stumbles to the window and stares at the sky and remembers.
Ginny Weasley is standing alone outside. She knows Harry needs time alone, and quite frankly, she does too. She tries not to think of George, but she canât help it. A tear falls down her cheek as she stares up at the sky and remembers.
George Weasley sits on his bedroom floor, drunk. He holds a Muggle gun up to his head, the same as he does every year this time. But he canât pull the trigger. He never can. He cries bitterly and utters his twinâs name as he stares at the ceiling and remembers.
Ron Weasley is working late at the office. He doesnât want to go home and let anyone see him like this. He twiddles his wand in his scarred hands to distract himself, then he looks up and stares at the ceiling and remembers.
Hermione Weasley-Granger keeps a straight face as she listens to a pair of wizards complain about a stolen hippogryff and pretends to care. She makes it to the stalls on time right before she breaks down and sobs. As tears flood her vision she stares up at the bathroom ceiling and remembers.
Draco Malfoy is sitting by the window in his study. He watches his wife dance around the room, practicing for an upcoming event. Usually, all his attention is on her, but today it isnât. The scars on his chest begin to tingle as he looks through the window and up at the sky and remembers.
Neville Longbottom is standing in his Herbology classroom, hands shaking after dismissing class early. He catches a glimpse of the back of Albus Severus Potter before he breaks down. Biting his lip to keep from making noise he looks up at the ceiling and remembers.
Luna Scamamder is deep in the South American jungles with her husband and sons. She is too distracted to notice a mysterious twinkling creature jump from behind a bush. Her husband notices and grabs her hand as she stares up at the tops of the jungle trees and remembers.
Today, everyone who was there May 2, 1988 remembers. They wish they didnât, but they do. They remember all the pain and suffering, all the lost loved ones, all the scars that will never fully heal.
But tomorrow, they will wake up and remember why they fought. And they will keep going.

âDâyou want to acompany me to the library, then? To look for the books, I mean? I donât want to get kicked outâŠI had a bit of a row in there a few weeks back, you see?â
âI suppose thatâs a good idea. I know a few really good books I think youâll enjoy and I wouldnât mind covering for a fellow Ravenclaw. For a bit at least... I could find the situation amusing and opt to let you be kicked out.âÂ
âIâm sorry to hear that.â Luna replies with a kind smile. âBut Iâm sure sheâs watching you from wherever she is.â Luna makes a vague gesture with her hand. âIâm sure sheâs proud of you.â
She shrugged. âI donât remember her,â Wynn repeated. She didnât think of her mother too often. Wynn couldnât remember much and didnât... mourn her mother. Not the way she felt she should, rather she mourned the loss of a mother. âAnd I doubt sheâs proud.â
âNo, it was very difficult.â Luna replies with a nod. A curious expression appears on her face. She knows she probably shouldnât ask, but she canât help herself. So in her usual blunt way, she asks:Â âHave you lost your mum as well?â
Wynn was silent for several long moments before nodding. âYeah. I lost my mum when I was really young,â she answered. âI... I donât remember her much.â

IMPORTANT!
esthardesperado:
I have a massive favor to ask all of you. Please take just two minutes out of your busy days to do this. Iâm asking for honesty, and for your empathy.
If you have ever, in your entire roleplaying career, been intimidated to go up to someone to ask for a roleplay, please like or reblog this post. If you have ever considered giving up roleplaying because you felt like a bother to people, or like you were being ignored, please like or reblog this post. If you have ever thought your roleplaying wasnât good enough, or compared your rping to someone elseâs and felt you werenât as good as them, please like or reblog this post.
Itâs just one click. One moment of honesty. And it could possibly prove a very big point to someone incredibly special to me that I donât want to lose.
Iâd be even more honored if you could share some words of encouragement about your struggles with roleplay, to let them know theyâre not alone.
Thank you.
Just know that those who you may be intimidated by have been in your shoes. Even with their reputation or what you believe them to be, they are just as intimidated as you. We are all human.Â
When we all start we are just as nervous. We believe all the fears that have been said. This is especially true when we try a different muse in a different fandom. The people are new. We donât know anyone yet and they donât know us. Our outgoing nature and open arms become shy. This time weâre the new kids on the block and not just the one who shows everyone the ropes. And if things donât go well we feel like giving up on the new muse. On hiding back where weâre comfortable. That those we try to interact with are bothered by us and purposefully ignoring us. True or not the thoughts still run through our head.
So when we say donât be intimidated by us we mean it, for we are just as intimidated by you. We know what itâs like. And with every new person we go through the motions. So please, let us help each other and be the partner the other needs.
