Messed up how there is no there is no fandom content on Kimberley or Fredericka Bimmel from sotl when Clarice spends a whole chapter internally monologuing about the first and less-than-a-chapter-but-definitely-important about the second and one of the most important plot points of sotl is how nobody gave a damn about those girls but once a politician’s daughter was kidnapped too all of a sudden they’re rushing the investigation and all of a sudden everybody wants to catch Buffalo Bill RIGHT. NOW.

Hannibal Fanfiction Recommendations A personal, adult-focused reading list

This is a short list of some of my favourites fics to be used as a reference for myself (because I can’t remember everything all the time) and for others looking for what I have enjoyed as a fun Clannibal/Silence of the Lambs read. All stories primarily follow a Clarice/Hannibal pairing unless otherwise indicated. I will try and expand this list as my knowledge of the fandom grows.

Liquid Heart by elizabethlovestatu (incomplete)

Ever dreamed of a family romcom Silence of the Lambs style? Me neither, but you'll want it after you read the first 3 chapters of this fic. All the characters are rich and alive and the writing style keeps you hooked on a dramatic edge. I read this every night and when I'm not feeling great - it's lovely.

Ring of the Nymph by averageharpyuser (one shot)

Really enjoyable banter between our beloved characters. One that makes us really appreciate the dynamic. Please read. The last line is worth it!

A truly incredible take on Clarice working on Hannibal's case to find Hannibal. As expected the chemistry and banter is on fire with this one. Read it. You won't regret it.

A nice chianti of excellence

These fics make you think, and have a look at yourself, whether you're afraid to or not by diving into the psyche's of our beloved Hannibal and Clarice. Reserve time in your day to read longer fics with elegant, angsty prose and amazing emotional vocabulary these Fava Beans!

The Vesper Series by LCr86

This fic made me love the clannibal fandom again after I had a hiatus from reading it of about a 3 year period. It has the BEST sex scenes out there. Hannibal/Clarice work together on very compelling cases and Clarice recognises the growth of her desire. The most slow burn tension of any fic out there, and you believe the romance is legit between Hannibal and Clarice. It is incredible! 10/10 would recommend. Why are you still here - go read it!

The Visitor by SLovingLecter

One of the first fics I ever read and it's a really unique concept - Hannibal doesn't escape and Clarice visits him as she is drawn to him. It's delicious, and a great entry to the fandom.

Breaking Free by BookishGal

An original that is an oldy but is still 100% a goody. Bookishgal keeps you hooked for 3 full entries into this series and Hannibal and Clarice go from a weird kind of friendship to a true consenting relationship and it makes sense. Go read it. Have fun.

Lastly a shameless self promotion. My gothic response to Harris's Hannibal novel. It's a mystery, a psychological study, dark romance. It tries to ask us - could we love Hannibal fully, not as this intuitive genius who is attuned to us, but also the cannibal himself? We must explore these complex ideas as adults via fiction.

A piece that’s been floating around in my head for a while now, that finally solidified when I needed it for myself in between my other projects. The text is a quote from Hannibal (the book); it’s a thought that comes to Clarice Starling while acknowledging corruption, and when I first read this line, it took my breath away and I had to put the book down for a moment. I think I read it exactly when I needed it, and it’s kept me afloat in the midst of all the unthinkable craziness this year (to put that all extremely politely): I may not be able to control the massive things and systems at play outside of myself. I can only do what I can do…but there’s also power in that.

I can make sure that within my reach, people will always feel safe. That they’ll know compassion and have someone else looking out for them. That they won’t be alone, and they’ll have someone to help lift them (and their voice) up. We need each other now more than ever- we’re all we have. And so I’ll continue to do what I can, within my reach. I’ll continue to be kind and keep fighting for a better world, until my last breath. ✊🏼🖤 I guess it’s fitting that Clinton pointed out that the spikes on this one look like a compass, since this sentiment is what’s been guiding me lately.

I really love how textured this piece came out, it was so much fun to put together! (I’ll never say no to paint splatter and rusty metal…those things are my happy place 😝) I love interactive elements in art, so I was excited to add a magnet for the moth! It makes it easier to move the entire piece more safely, but you can also put the moth on any way you want- straight or sideways, like it’s about to fly away. Or upside down!
