Q: Can you briefly describe the author agreements of Nova Publishers?
Nova Publishers: Agreements between authors and Nova Publishers include work-for-hire agreements. An idea or book idea form must be approved by Nova Publishers before a contract is signed by both parties. From the date of signature to the publication date is within six months to a year, depending on when we receive the manuscript. There is no charge to publish with us, however, as stated in the contract, should color figures be needed or english editing, there will be a charge. Authors and/or our editors also receive an initial bulk discount on the book once it becomes available, should they decide they would like to purchase a large number of books to distribute to their family or colleagues. Also stated in the contract is how we market our books. It is very important to return to us the questionnaire, as complete as possible, to our marketing department.
Q: Have there been certain markets in which Nova Publishers has found success?
Nova Publishers: Our audience consists of librarians, scientists, authors and researchers from North America, Europe, Asia and many other areas. Depending on the subject, books sell differently in various parts of the world and are marketing differently as well. There are certain markets that we have found to be more difficult than others - however, I would say that in Asia and Europe, we are pleased with the progress so far and hope to advance further in these markets within the next few years.
Q: Where are some of the other territories that Nova Publishers plans to expand upon in the next few years?
Nova Publishers: Two of our chief areas of focus at this time are Brazil and China. However, each year, our representatives visit book events, fairs and conferences throughout the world.
