that is an explanation, NOT an excuse.
you can go through horrible things and not be a pos. if someone talks to you about something you CONSISTENTLY do, something youโve been aware and concious of for years, thereโs not excuse. itโs great you understand why youโre doing said thing, but actually DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! if you have been โworkingโ on something for years and years with little to no improvement, you donโt actually care about improving, you just donโt want people pissed off at you anymore.
i canโt tell you how many times iโve asked people to stop doing x hurtful thing and they take it as a personal attack and deem me evil and sensitive.
iโve met so many people with this issue and honestly it is EXHAUSTING. it makes me want to distance myself from them. everyone has problems, everyone has things they need to approve on. everyone has been through bad shit, everyone has hard times. but you still donโt get to treat your friends, family, partner (etc) like shit because of it.
furthermore, if someone cuts you off due to repeated said actions and you treat them like theyโre the one in the wrong, you donโt actually view what you did as wrong. because if you did, you would understand why they donโt talk to you anymore. the amount of people i have talked to about something, asked them to improve because it was hurting me, they continue to do it so i cut them off, and they spread rumors about me is insane. iโm not going to let people treat me like shit and walk all over me. iโm not insane for not letting my boundaries go because it hurts someone elseโs feelings. if someone canโt handle my boundaries, they shouldnโt date or try to be my friend in the first place.
you canโt expect to treat someone like shit for years and then have no consequences.
This isnโt to say iโm perfect or anyone needs to be perfect. but i feel like everyone should be consistently working on themselves. i always, always, strive to be the best version of myself. even if im better than who i was at 14, i can still be and do better. growth never stops.
iโve met at LEAST (and have dated) a few people like this and it drives me up the wall.
i also know some of these people see my accs still, stop assuming everything is abt you. this post might be, depending on who you are, but me reposting manchild has nothing to do with you. but if the shoe fitsโฆ
