Whats scary to me is, if you were to scroll through my facebook, or most facebooks around the US right now, they look like a bunch of terrorist recruitment sites. trump being in the white house a week has given the world, and the American people, enough fodder to fear the United States. Fear, not in this instance meaning respect, but meaning: "an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain or threat". There is a clear and present danger in this country, and it isnt threat of immigrants, it isnt the threat of women controling what happens to their bodies, and it isnt the threat of same sex couples. The danger is the undermining of democracy. How many wars have been fought to establish a democratic government in foreign countries? How many soldiers died? How many innocent people died because America knew the best way? Was it not then in vain when in one week tump has proved that the people have NO say in what happens within the government which by definition is "of the people"? Is it not in vain when the popular vote that SHOULD have put someone else in the white house didn't? Is it not in vain when a country built on the hard work of immigrants, fought for by immigrants, only exists because of immigrants, has forgotten its history and the history of the world around it? The United States of America is a democratic republic. People have become complacent. People have gotten too comfortable with their status. People have gotten too comfortable with their privilege and are afraid to lose it. People have become gluttonous and vapid. When i asked people why they would vote for trump, 98% said, "because he'll make us money". He'll make us money? "He is a good business man". He is a good business man? His money is money born of privilege, dishonesty and corruption, backdoor deals and fraud, scamming and ripping off Americans. These things now represent America. Hate, racism, bigotry, sexism, tyranny. Because what? So he would make us money... I love what the United States stands for. I love what it represents, but we as Americans need to wake up. We need to take control of our government. We can not sit idle by while one man and his rich friends doom a country our ancestors built and we are still building. Rise up and #resist . Take your country back. And pray to your God that the world will forgive us for this, that we don't get nuked because of one horrid little beast that never should have been put in office.
