My current demo reel for 2017!
From my Visual Concept Development Final, where we had to pitch an idea for something ,a series, a short film, anything. I pitched East Conference Monsters, a graphic novel about a bunch of fresh college graduate monsters who are going on a road trip across the country to compete in a dodge ball tournament and preserve their friendships. The main character is an imp who is very afraid of the future, and is clinging desperately to his relationships with people around him.
The final for my 3D character animation class.
The clip is from RedLetterMedia’s “Best of The Worst: Ninja Movies”
Overall it could probably be more snappy, but I think it came out alright.
This was my first film for my Animation Production 2 class, and was inspired by pulling the words “lion”, “walrus” and “keeping something” from a hat. I interpreted “keeping something” as “keeping awake” and it kind of mutated into its own thing.
A walk assignment for my character animation class, in which we had to have a character walk on screen, do a few cycles and then walk off, along with a character reacting to them. The end is kinda jerky, but the big step came out really nice.
Found this going through and old folder and thought It was pretty fun.
My third Animation Production short, in which I was tasked with explaining a complex topic in a creative way. I picked the bane and fear of all early 20 somethings, Taxes!
The second of my Animation Production Projects. I was tasked with creating an animation based off a strange photo assigned by my professor.
My first animation production assignment: to create a short about the letter G.
There’s some issues in composition, but it’s not bad for my first project!
Here’s the storyboard for my final of my Character Design class, in which a pair of brothers break into an apartment in an attempt to steal some encrypted data, only to be surprised by a second intruder.
My character design Midterm, which was about creating a pair in conflict.
The world these characters come from is one where food, when cooked at a really high level, is actual magic. The most skilled of cooks can create recipes that can move and think on their own, the ultimate expressions of culinary skill and passion. The greatest of these people form a group known as the Nomands of Taste, sworn to travel the world and share in its cultures.
The girl is Kaywa, granddaughter of one of the world’s most famous chefs and aspiring cook as well. Though she loves her grandmother dearly, she wants to get out of her shadow while also paying homage to her. A lot of other chefs in the community view her as a bit lazy due to her unconventional methods, and think she’s just trying to ride the coat tails of her talented family.
The large character is Etouffee, an alligator made out of Cajun soup, a recipe handed down to Kaywa by her grandmother. He’s sort of an older brother figure to Kaywa, and tries to keep her grounded, but can lose his temper when things get a little too heated.
Some misc. Characters I’ve drawn over the past year. Not for any particular project.
