So, I saw an artist who made her own idea of how Scarletella came to be, more or less. Scarletella started just as an umbrella, and that is the monster itself, inside and outside. And when it discovered the taste of blood and flesh because of Adami, he gained more power to began to manifest into that shape of the 'man' we see.
In my case, I think he was able to manifest before Adami's first arrival, but he needed blood and flesh still, even beginning as an umbrella. That is when he could consume some of it from some weak monsters from the apartments (That is how he learned to speak the Otherworld language), slowly earning strength to get to eat those humans who got lost in the other world, in this way, learning more about how humans looked, moved, spoke, etc. As we know, Scarletella is a monster, a phenomenon that is just imitating a man.
Ahead you will find some drawings I made with how I picture those stages from him as he manifests fully. (And i love attempting to draw red husband xP)
Him, attached to the umbrella since its not just his body but heart as well.
I could picture him as this shadow of red as blood and black as a void, looking grotesque.
Form looking sharper as he tries to manifest that shape of a 'man', beginning with the limbs, torso and forming that what he understands as 'hair'.
Once the shape of the body was enough, he applied the next he learned: humans always wearing some type of cloth over them. So he manifested some around him, in his case a trench coat because not just its association with rain, but maybe he has seeing innocent men wearing them.
Final stage, once the clothes, the shoes and the body are done, time to add the 'skin', shaping the hands, the nails and make the face better, not just darkness with eyes.
