a bit about me

Hello! 👋 I'm Belladonna! I'm an American college freshman, and I'm absolutely obsessed with Rain World (my current hyperfixation), Wings of Fire, Warriors, Pokémon, and the Legend of Vox Machina. I'm not so great at art (getting a bit better now!), but I can and do write! I love to ramble about anything and everything that interests me, but I'm kind of shy, even online, so I probably will not be very active on here for now. My pronouns are she/her. Since practice makes perfect (and I need to put this gift sketchbook to use anyway), I’ve decided to try to take a crack at drawing my scugsona myself, rather than just continuing to commission other artists to do it for me! All their work has been so lovely thus far and inspired me to create using my own art style. So here’s a rough sketch!

Unfortunately all I’ve managed to do so far is draw slugcats in a third angle, otherwise the art doesn’t look very good 😅 I’m still working on my poses and proportions. I think this piece is promising, and has potential. I’m a little scared to color it in case it ruins the whole thing, so I took a photo beforehand juuussst in case.

Alchemist is one of three offspring of Artificer and Gourmand, the other two being The Warrior and The Paladin (yes, their titles are inspired by DnD classes). Her birth/given name is Oleander (suggested by my friend @dragongirl-ascenciaa, who always has such wondrous Rain World ideas :3) As is rather obvious by her appearance, her powers are poison-based. She’s inspired by those tropical rainforest poison dart frogs and sea slugs, leaning much more into the slug aspect of “slugcat” with the ability to produce pearls (like a true mollusk), lather her spears with poison, and transform rocks into spore puffs. I love her so very much already, the goodest girl. Her personality/abilities/design were EASY but the name was IMPOSSIBLE for me to figure out 😅 so I appreciate the assistance of my fellow fanatic in that regard. I got a wholeeee story for her planned out (not that any of it actually matters cuz it’ll all stay in my head while I listen to music during walks or drives ANYWAY :P) and I’m so pleased with how all of these turned out!

I once drew her a long time ago when the concept first came to me in a daydream during lecture (old art EW 🤢…gotta redraw this soon)
