i was rewatching season 1 and it's crazy how this is the first deep conversation they had (iirc) and it reflects the problems they keep having over and over again. carmy knowing his problems 'aren't an excuse', promising but half-fulfilling, syd wishing to be listened and being left alone. power imbalance at first but a glance of what could be a great partnertship. it's season 3 and they're still here in a way.

'the reason i'm here and not working somewhere else or for someone else, is 'cause i think i can stand out here, i can make a difference here, we could share ideas, i can implement things that make this place better. and i don't wanna be wasting my time working on another line, or tweezing herbs on a dish that i don't care about' after s3 this is so 😬...
