The fucking truth. The. Fucking. Truth. Gentrification is such racist fuckery. You discriminated against Black people for centuries. Refused them mobility. Stuck them in areas where you did not invest in infrastructure, school, roads, business or anything else. Took their taxes and funneled it to richer neighborhoods to take care of their shit. Overpoliced them using brutal tactics. Even trafficked drugs into their neighborhoods. Nevertheless they rise above it, create something special, unique and lasting out of less than nothing and now that it looks pleasant to your eyes, white people want to come into said neighborhood, take it over, kick all the Black people out, tear it down, destroy everything Black people built and bleach the fuck out of the area. Fucking pigs.

This shit made me so angry just reading it. Especially the part about banks refusing to give loans to businesses owned by Black folks, but suddenly cupcake and yogurt shops that will fail in 3 years get loans out the wazoo.

and the tax money. I grew up on cedar road in Cleveland and the pavement was so bad it felt like riding an old rickety roller-coaster but then white people moved to that area and all of a sudden it gets repaved

same things happened in my old neighborhood in brooklyn. out of the many things in this vein that happened, the one that pissed me off the most was what happened to the subway station. for years that subway station had no elevator and no ramp for the elderly or disabled. i helped and watched many old black men and women slowly and carefully climbing up and going down those stairs who needed an elevator but there was none. old people could have used it, mothers with little babies in carriages could have used it, fathers with little babies in carriages could have used it, disabled people could have use it and more but there was none.

THAT IS UNTIL WHITE PEOPLE START MOVING INTO THE NEIGHBORHOOD. 

all of a sudden construction started at that subway station and we got an elevator, ramp and even more seats. ALL OF WHICH WAS NEEDED WHEN IT WAS JUST BLACK PEOPLE LIVING THERE. for as long as i lived there, i refused to ever use that elevator, that ramp or those fucking seat. 

but my bad white people. didn’t mean to interrupt you with some factual shit. tell me again about “all lives matter.”
