i guess i'm just on a never ending quest to come up with a chibi style that works for me

i keep thinking that it'd be so cool to table at cons and then i get caught up on the thought of 'yeah but you don't fucking know how to draw chibis!!!' and then the struggle begins

the other day i realized tho, my issue is exaggerated by something really dumb

the chibis i like the most when i browse other people's stuff are the kind that would just plain NOT WORK with my style

i'm the 'get bogged down working on details for 15 hours only to emerge with mysterious injuries and a haunted look on my face' kind of artist, so whatever chibi style i land on needs to still have room for detail

i feel like i could've skipped like 50% of the struggle time if i just accepted that i'll never pull off the super clean linework shapey simplified chibi style, i need to let myself do my sparkly bullshit or i'll never be happy with anything, cause i'll be bothered by there being no embellishments

idk man, all this to say, i need to struggle with this some more so i can emerge victorious, cause i REALLY want to try and table at artist alleys and make silly keychains and shit

hey so i'm back from the dead in time to hypepost about s2, after once again disappearing for like a month

this time it was a mixture of life stuff and cosplay prep, since con season is upon us and i tried my hand at propwork for like the first time ever

also, while this is an art blog, i might as well mention that i'm forcing myself to start using ig, mostly for cosplay/con reasons

idk why, but anytime i chat with another cosplayer at a con, they always ask if i have ig, and then when i'm like no but i have other stuff... they don't have the other stuff that i have

i'm still debating if i'm gonna make it an art/cosplay/con photodump/possibly future merch posting account, or something more strictly cosplay/con focused, but here in case anyone actually reads this and is curious

now here's to hoping i don't disappear off the face of the earth AGAIN, since i have another con coming up, but now the prep is more... maintenance work, brushing and restyling wigs, rather than making anything from scratch

this is a redraw of a thing i originally posted like 2(?) years ago, which i really liked the concept of but i hated the execution. i'm not gonna link it, it's still up and very easy to find but i'm not digging it up myself. just trust me when i say it was crappy, the limbs were rubber, the anatomy in general was awful and it was all just... off.

i'm sure i'll look back at this new version in 2 years and come up with a list of reasons why it sucks, but for now i'm just happy that i can see how much i've improved since the original! i can see my own growth and it's super reassuring!!
