Me: man I wish I knew more of my neighbors better
My nine-year-old neighbor: *crashes momās car into my yard*
Me: Be careful what you wish for I suppose
Honestly my first draft of this post said āmy neighborās sonā and then I was like wait a second thatās functionally the same as saying āmy cousinās sister.ā Thatās still my cousin and thatās still my neighbor.
Stop saying Calvin and Hobbes itās important to me that Calvin is six and not nine.
I take it the nine-year-old was literally driving the vehicle?
The nine-year-old was literally driving the vehicle after knocking the gear shift into Drive apparently by accident. Seven- and five-year-olds in the backseat. Nine-year-old knows in movies people stomp down on the thing on the floor and the car stops. He stomps. It is the gas.
I'm seeing warnings about scammers trying to commission artists but the "reference sheet" for their character they want commissioned isn't an image but a .vbs file ("visual basic script"), and will run a script when you open it, probably to yoink your account(s), but I haven't seen this from anyone who's actually clicked it yet. Just be careful and never open a file like that, 'cause people suck.
For reference (heh)
At a glance, file name checks out. But!! Do not open a .vbs file!!!
I love when people ask "how did you learn this skill?" I just started, there's no secret. that's it. a vast majority of the time the only thing holding you back is your trepidation to start.
went to a new optometrist today wearing my squid facts āsave our freaksā shirt from @sarahmackattack that has a strawberry squid on it. and i wasnāt even thinking about it but the optometrist walked in and he was like āoh what does your shirt sayā so i showed him and he was like āoh thatās neat!ā and then i thought he might like to know about strawberry squid eyes since they have weird eyes and he is an optometrist and all. so i was like āyeah itās actually a real kind of squid called a strawberry squid, their eyes are really cool because they have one big yellow-green one and one small blue oneā and he kind of gasped and went āoh my god thatās so interesting i wonder why they have that. do you know what their retina composition is like?ā and i watched as he minimized my chart on the computer and started looking up images of strawberry squid and then he googled āstrawberry squid retina compositionā and he was like āsorry weāll get to your eye exam in a moment i just really want to find outā LMAO 10/10 optometrist experience will be returning
Hell yeah

"Stop saying 15 year olds with weird interests are cringe, they're 15" this is true however you should also stop saying adults with weird interests are cringe because who gives a shit
To wit:
I want to share some wisdom from my high school art teacher.
In my AP Art class, there was a girl who was just starting to experiment with mixed media. At this point she was still playing around, trying to decide what direction she wanted to go with her portfolio. So one critique day, she brought in an abstract canvas with some rhinestone highlights and painted and real peacock feathers. She loved sparkles and peacock feathers so she thought sheād try introducing them a *little*. And after everyone had given some input, the teacher gave her his advice, VERY roughly paraphrased here:
āSo hereās the thing⦠I do not like this style. These are just elements that do not speak to me personally, but I see that you like them, and youāre doing interesting things with them.
āMy biggest critique is, I only merely *dislike* this piece. I want you to make me HATE it. Go crazy with the things that you like. Donāt hold back trying to make it palatable to people like me. Because I am NEVER going to like it. And if the audience does not like it, it should drive them crazy seeing how much YOU love it.ā
Her portfolio was chock full of neon colors and glitter and rhinestones and splashes of peacock feathers and it was a delight. Our teacher despised every piece lol, but she got great marks and I think even won some awards. And more importantly, she was happy and proud of the results. Because she didnāt limit herself by trying to appeal to people who were never going to enjoy what she enjoyed.
Takeaway here: be as cringe as you want. Donāt limit yourself based on other pplās tastes. Theyāre not you, and you are incredible š
This is the most inspirational thing I've read all week. Possibly all year
recently I was bleeding and a person told me this. So I decided to turn it into a funny picture

Thatās a gunfight in a Looney Tunes cartoon
thanks, @tenspookybugs !
If you canāt hear this, itās like a cross between a pinball machine and every silly āgunfire pew pewā joke youāve ever run across.
Thank you @athenasdragon
Hereās the link if you donāt want to search for this in the notes!
On a completely unrelated note, the guy in the video who threw the rocks, Cory Williams, is responsible for this ancient Internet relic known as the Mean Kitty song.
Reblogging for first the ice ping, which I remember, then reblogging for the shock that is remembering Sparta The Mean Kitty.
Just adding in passing: this is why folktales in cultures that coexist with glaciers so often feature tropes suggesting that the glaciers are haunted by somethingāroutinely, the spirits of the unquiet dead. And from the dead (or whatever else is up there, buried in the ice) come all kinds of weird and uncanny noisesā¦
Oh so itās GHOSTS having the gunfight
other superheros get training from their mentors, from the super secret society, from alien tech, from the monks or they have some kind of military background.
phantom, on the other hand, got training from the firefighters in his town after he crashed on their cases one too many times and they decided that "yup, if your gonna try to help, might aswell give you some training so you could be useful.", he got training from the paramedics because they were worried he wouldn't know how to help an injured human, he got training from his local town detective who smokes too much and gives him cookies when he can help with his Ghost senses and figure out if this was a human crime or a ghost crime.
the funniest part about danny phantom is that the entirety of the ghost zone somehow decides they have beef with this one 14 year old from illinois in particular. like why donāt you have beef with something that makes sense. like the irs. or the church. like you have all of these cool powers for what? picking fights with teenagers? lame. get a hobby.
Danny Phantom just gets wilder the more you know about it, really.
first of all i gotta say that it's not actually canon that he's from Illinois. the show is just "generic American small city" for his hometown and the fandom took context cues from other parts of the show and decided "Fuck it Illinois makes sense" and just kept that.
But I guarantee you, nothing about the show makes sense when you look at it too closely so take everything with a grain of salt. Yes I'm looking at you, Timeline.
the teenager in question is also kind of a ghost, hence part of the reason why the other ghosts are picking fights with him. He arguably picks a bunch of the fights himself.
it's not just the entirety of the Ghost Zone that get put into the antagonist role in the show either. Danny's other antagonists include:
A literal billionaire (who is also a ghost) (and gets himself elected mayor)
his parents (literally ghost hunters. who also fight the ghosts.)
a circus ringmaster with mind control and reality bending artifacts
Classmates at school who bully Danny
the closest thing we get to an adult who is on Danny's side is Mr. Lancer, who also supports the school bullies
the ghost who impersonated a school counselor and was literally in the role of Danny's therapist for a bit that one episode
A U.S. government agency
a girl he dates was actually being controlled by a dragon ghost and didn't actually want to date him. Have fun with that fallout kid.
the girl he dates for a bit who *wanted* to date him also shows up in costume to shoot him on sight.
his clone shows up and is supposed to be his enemy. he adopts her instead. yes those pronouns are all correct.
she's not really an antagonist but one of his best friends arguably kills him twice. once very much on purpose.
his other best friend and whatever happened in King Tuck.
like it's not enough that this show puts Danny (and friends) against the regular ghosts and the God-Like Being level ghosts and the literal Ghost Tyrant King guy
he can't even catch a break at home either
kid's literally surrounded by people deliberately or accidentally making his life harder, there are no safe Adults, there are barely any safe friends, and he is fourteen and half dead.
and his parents canonically want to rip his alter-ego apart "molecule by molecule" i am not kidding with that one.
Like they made us a sandbox of a Nickelodeon cartoon and just half assed it by grabbing a bunch of two-by-fours, nailing them together... and then sticking them on the beach.
and then people still get mad when the fandom shows up to build sandcastles and dig to china. Yeah, we know they didn't make it That Deep on purpose.
But we're here with the good Tonka Toys anyway and ready to dig.
This post just slapped me in the face (again) with the fact that Danny is just, never safe.
He's never safe.
Home, school, the zone, hanging out with friends, walking down the street, in anotger state; there is nowhere for Danny to go and be safe.
Most ghosts he's met (pretty sure everyone but Frostbite and Pandora), his parents, his friends, Vlad, Jazz; there is almost no one who has not at least once been his enemy.
Can you imagine living like that? At any moment of any day, anywhere he is anyone; even one or both of his best friends, his sister, his mom and dad; anyone could turn around and suddenly become someone he has to fight.
Danny has to be living his life in a perpetual state of adrenaline response. Every waking moment must be spent on a hairpin trigger, ready to fight at the first sign of danger. Can you imagine how much that is going to fuck you up?
not to mention that even his food at home is not safe and that the fast food places are also a latent bomb
My man is struggling and any fics that feature PTSD, cptsd, anxiety, paranoia, or just general mental breakdown? 1000% justified. Canon compliant. More canon than Phantom Planet. (Especially since AGIT retcon'd that trash)
No, wait, hold on. There's a thought.
Y'know that common thing where we make Danny have a slower heart rate because ghost boi?
So, that's supposed to be true. As a halfa he should have a steady heart rate around 20bpm in both forms. And originally that was true after his body settled into its new healthy after the accident. But by the time anyone team Phantom thinks to actually check that stuff just in case, Danny is already Stressed⢠24/7, so they inaccurately judge his baselines to be in perfectly normal human ranges. Like, 70bpm at rest and 120 immediately after ghost fights.
And since consistently having your heart beat at 50-100bpm above what it should is, mm, not good for the organ... Danny has actually been experiencing frequent cardiac events and just not noticing it because it seems like it's all just his new normal and his ghostliness keeps him alive (enough) and lets him recover.
we need more stories about high femme prom queen types who become weird faggy guys. you haven't seen Behaviors until you've seen a repressed closeted tboy holding on to socially acceptable heterosexual femininity by the skin of his teeth
Me before I came out, when I did pageants and modeling.
Me after I came out, cut off my hair, bought comfortable clothes, and decided to actually wear my glasses because fuck contacts.
This was me the day of my junior prom. The dress weighed around 20 lbs, was the first one I tried on, and my makeup was done by someone who still thought brown lip liner looked good on white people. I spent the entire day being photographed and generally hating how I looked and wishing I could figure out why, when everything was technically perfect.
And this was me about eleven years later- two weeks after I started T in the first photo, and at around 5 months on T in the second. Much happier, married to the love of my life, and finally looking like myself!
Such girl, very wow (pro ballet, modeling, and my first wedding)
Came out in 2016, here's nine years of transformation (in reverse order, sorry)
Turns out I'm neither a Normal Guy nor a woman, but a much weirder type of faggy masc thing.
And that's pretty great.
In my lifestyle lolita egg era. Somehow getting to dress like a princess gave me the will to get up in the morning
1 year and 5 months on T
granted being a big ol goth doesn't really fit the bill of "socially acceptable heterosexual femininity" but i was HYPER feminine when i was closeted, especially in the years between when i FIRST tried to come out (age 16 - around the time of those first photos) and when i actually made the jump (age 19 - about a year after the last photo)
you can tell in that second to last photo i literally got a tattoo that said "MAD GIRL" which was an exercise in many things, including abstract self-harm, a visual reminder that i had given up on myself, and wildly underestimating the number of dudes who would misread it as BAD GIRL and take that as a cue to say gross shit to me while i was at work
anyway never kill yourself
haha yeah š«£
consciously dipped my toes into the gender fuckery pool at around 15/16 but I was pentecostal at the time and well. took them out real quick
i tried very very hard to be āfemmeā for a LONG time but during covid lockdowns I didnāt have to perform for anyone and I slowly started to let it all go and now Iām a silly little man š
ahem
these are about 10 years apart, 7 years on t and 5 years post op. it gets better guys
this too is a poem. these are my favorite kind of tags to see on this post btw. you will be in one of these posts someday <3
might as well join in
tried SO HARD to be feminine and dress in pinks and flowy materials and keep my hair long and evidently it did not work (was ~17 in these)
vs now at 22 and still pre-everything but im my most authentic self and it feels great
(and still rocking pink <3) (i guess i really like abbey road lol)
how it feels being a first time kitten owner bc like what if he explodes when im not looking
The Darkening Knight
Solid medications (pills) really do be coming in two varieties - edible plastic, and smarties (derogatory)
