actually overall i am very proud of how much this update conveys in 4 pages. we've learned a lot about war and his place in this hyrule very rapidly. it's been very fun reading everyone's comments and seeing everyone Get It so immediately :D makes me feel like im doing my job right lol
war is not a big fan of crowds. I added the frames to kind of push the vibe of being trapped or closed in? gilded cage etc etc. also the static-y effect on the second panel. he has to get away for a moment, but he has to make it look casual.
ALSO on just a wider page layout note. in order to keep the blocking of this page coherent i tried to like show the stairway entrance and the waiter with the champagne in the distance -> war picks up the champagne -> exits thru the stairway. helps subtly keep everything connected and feel like he's moving logically thru space! i. hope
triple goddess fairy fountain :D also little hylia in the distance. Hylia Is still important to this era but I feel like there's less of an emphasis on depicting her because Zelda Is Her Mouthpiece. and she's right there living breathing. also still a border but at least it's got nice foliage. kind of like. it's a moment of respite but ur still inside the castle walls
one thing i rlly wanted to emphasize with war is how his whole demeanor can change in an instant. this is probably as close as we get to what he's "really like."
i wanted the feeling that Impa just Appears out of thin air, so I have her arm reaching from out of frame.
okay. ive been waiting literal YEARS to do this to him. it's so funny. Impa 1000% did not have to do all that. but also she's basically saying if ur drunk enough to let me grab this from u ur too drunk. sober up NEOW. party's over.
It also shows that their relationship has an element of antagonism. She does this because she knows it will irritate him. he's irritated, but he also defers to her authority the second she throws it around. YIPPEE
re: his demeanor changing in an instant, the second Impa says he's back on duty, he's snapping to attention. I rlly wanted to focus on how his posture changes! Holding himself a little more casually to feet together, arms behind his back, eyes forward, etc. Training beats being tipsy lol
the borders returning!! also, specifically,eyes watching in the corners, and chains in the margins. the chain design is specifically a reference to the chains on botw impa's hat! A fun aspect of this Impa's design also is that she has the eye symbol both on her forehead and on her back. always watching :-)
once again a lot of this conversation is the subtext. War walks away troubled/pissed off not necessarily Just because it's potentially a new quest he's being sent on, but because she essentially just told him that he'll be going away for a long while, and She gets to control the narrative about why that is.
sidenote. I love this expression so much. here's the linework :D of course general :-)))))))

sidenote i fought for my LIFE coloring this update lol. war is green and the shrubs are green and RAHHH but i think it turned out alright in the end
