Name: Nicola Lucille Ashton Age & Birthday: 18 (6 May) Gender & Sexual Identity: cis female, pansexual Major: Dance track--ballet Year: Freshman Faceclaim: Bailey De Young
(+adventurous, outgoing, hard working & -naive, gullible, guarded)
Biography: (tw: parental/childbirth death, bullying)
- In the mid 80s through the early 90s, Pebble Pets took America by storm. There design was simple, creating small stuffed animals and filling them with small pellets instead of stuffing. But the marketing was effective, with many of them sold as limited time collectors items. Everyone wanted one, and toymakers Wayne and Sylvia Ashton made a large fortune off their creation. Soon, the Ashton Toy Company was as big of a name at Mattel and Hasbro.
- Nicola Ashton was not born into that world. Nobody has ever given her the details, and she’s never asked, but she knows there was a huge fight between her father and his parents. He decided to completely cut his family out. He soon met Nicola’s mother, and they settled down and had two kids, a son named Ryan and a daughter named Kathryn. It wasn’t until nearly a decade later that they discovered they were going to have a third child. Nicola’s birth was was complicated and long, and her mom did not survive. Her father never recovered from his wife’s death and, as a result, was always emotionally unavailable to Nicola when she was growing up. Sylvia took it upon herself to care for her grandchildren, inviting herself back into her son’s life even if he didn’t really want her there.
- As a young kid, Cola wanted to try anything and everything she heard about. Gymnastics, art, soccer, acting, karate, baton, ballet….you name it, Nicola at least had a couple months of lessons. But it was those last two activities that she really took to with a passion. School wasn’t easy for the blonde, who was the target of bullying for her family’s wealth and her small size. But she always looked forward to dancing after school, or seeing friends at the next baton competition. Ballet, especially, was an escape for her. She could throw all her energy into it and was always one of the best in her class. But as she grew up, she slowly realized her dreams of making it into a ballet company weren’t realistic. There was an expected body type; tall, slender, long legs and small chest. Nicola, who was barely 5 feet tall, didn’t have ‘the look’, and it became increasingly clear that being the best dancer at her studio wasn’t enough.
- Rather than get discouraged, Nicola shifted her focus - ballet companies weren’t the only ones that looked for dancers. She joined her high school dance team, as well as the spring musical. Using dance to tell a story with actors and musicians was exciting, and a new way to see the world of dance. As she started preparing for life after high school, she never gave a second thought about where the focus of her auditions landed. While she did audition for several ballet companies, her attention centered on schools like NYADA, Juilliard and NYU. The idea of moving to a big city far away from her family was terrifying, but she knew if she was serious about a career on Broadway then she needed to live in the only city that could make that happen.
- Nicola is a bubbly person. She always tries to see the best in people and she’s willing to try anything at least once. She desperately wants to belong in her new school, but she knows it’s a very different world from the one she grew up in. Cola can often come off as naive, and is rather gullible. She’s also the worst person to tell your secrets to, as she cannot keep her mouth shut. Her main goals for her freshman year at NYADA are to do amazing in her classes, make as many friends as she can, and to finish the year feeling like she’s a New Yorker.
Age & Birthday: 20 (April 3rd) Year: Junior Gender & Sexual Identity: Cis male (he/him), bisexual. Major: Performance track - Musical theatre. Faceclaim: Nick Robinson
(+confident, optimistic, decisive & - impatient, stubborn, impractical)
Biography: - The eldest of the Ellis children, Cameron has always carried himself with confidence. His childhood was a happy one, born to bright, caring parents, whose lives were touched by the arts. Music was a part of Cameron’s life even before his birth, with his father carefully curating playlists to play to his mother’s belly. Cameron’s education continued once he came into the world, led by the hand by his father, a talent musician whose passion was teaching. His mother, an English Literature professor at Syracuse, was his introduction to plays and theatre, and Cameron began to dream of performing for a living. There was no rush like pleasing an adoring audience, living for his parents’ praise and applause at the end of a recital. So close and yet so far from New York City, Cameron knew that he’d have to wait to make it his job, unable to convince his parents to take him for auditions as a child. Instead, he focused on rehearsal, preparing himself to be the very best he could be. It helped that his father ran the drama department at school, easily winning leads and bringing the house down with every performance.
- Only eighteen months older than his brother, Ollie, Cameron takes very few things more seriously than he does being a big brother. The two Ellis boys were best friends from the moment of Oliver’s birth, and Cameron is endlessly proud of the man his brother has become. They’ve always shared everything, and most importantly, they’ve shared their love of performing – united by their greatest passion in life. As soon as they were old enough to be trusted on their own, the boys would head off into New York City for the weekend, catching three shows and bunking together in a cheap hotel. For Cameron, things were easy in high school – he never quite noticed the way that Oliver would lose out on roles to him, or the waiting his brother had to do for him to graduate and move on. As far as Cameron is concerned, he and Ollie are two halves of the same soul – and he couldn’t pick a better brother to share things with.
- So wrapped up in theatre and amateur dramatics, high school was a joyful time for Cameron. Sociable and amiable, Cameron never struggled to make friends, always determined to include everybody and be a role model for others. While he always claimed to be easy-going, Cameron’s sensitive nature did cause him to take some losses hard: he cried for a week after his first break-up with a girl, suddenly understanding what all of Adele’s songs were all about. However, his dramatics didn’t last too long – it wasn’t long before he moved on to his next relationship, preferring to be in a couple than on his own – craving the sense of partnership and support a relationship provided. It was only when he reached college, however, that Cameron realised that that partnership could be with a man or a woman, exploring all sides of himself for the first time. Cameron believes (or wants to believe) in the idea of the one, and has a feeling that now is the very best time to meet them.
- When it came to college, there was only one choice for Cameron: NYADA. The pinnacle of theatre education, the dream school for every aspiring Broadway actor, its hallowed halls had been walked by theatre legends and Tony award winners, and Cameron knew he had to be next. With such a small and exclusive intake, Cameron put all of his effort into his application, citing his experience and his lifelong passion in his entry essay. His audition could only be Sondheim, technical and complicated, and though it went flawlessly, Camron couldn’t shake the nervousness he felt for weeks as he waited for a judgement. Finally holding in his hands his acceptance letter, Cameron felt a feeling he’d never felt before – the purest form of pride. He’d worked so hard for so long, and now his dreams were coming true. Leaving his parents and siblings, even only a few hours away, would be difficult, but Cameron’s future was in New York, and he couldn’t wait. This was what he deserved.
- NYADA turned out to be everything Cameron expected and more. Filled with like-minded individuals, who were as cutthroat as they were charming, Cameron was entirely in his element. His hard work had paid off, and now was his time to shine. It was almost too easy to win invitations to the showcase, to land leads in the junior play – Cameron was a talent, and he knew it. His attitude, at times, was lacking, prone to taking rejections or criticism personally – but Cameron knew that he had to grow a thicker skin to succeed, and worked hard to develop it. Now in his junior year, Cameron is starting to look ahead to graduation, beginning to audition for shows in the hopes of raising his profile and getting his name known. So far, he’s made it to a few call-backs, and even the last round of some casting processes – he just hopes that this success will one day result in a real achievement in the real world of theatre.

BIOGRAPHY
The Bell household on the Upper East Side of Manhattan was usually quiet. Here, Clara Bell was raised to be a perfect young lady. The eldest daughter of two of Manhattan’s most high-power attorneys, Clara was expected to excel in all of her pursuits, of which there were many. Besides a rigorous academic career at New York’s most prestigious all-girl’s school, Clara partook in every extracurricular possible: swimming, painting, tennis, French, piano, and acting, to name a few. At a very young age, Clara learned to behave in high society: sitting in corners and smiling politely. She was an all around well-mannered girl, and was often shown-off by her parents at parties and galas.
But not everything in the Bell household was as it initially seemed. As Clara grew up, her home became increasingly more tense. Her younger brother, Henry, was becoming a rebellious teenager, and her parents were fighting more often than not. Clara assumed the burden of their strained home. Maybe, if she was exactly who her parents wanted her to be, Clara could fix all of their problems. She studied hard and kept herself busy, striving for some sort of perfection that would create stability for her family. She was never happy with her work, and seemingly, neither were her parents.
From an early age, stories were Clara’s escape, a distraction from the pressures of her life. She liked to tell herself stories to pass the time— her characters kept her company when her parents were off at work, or events, and when the house felt most quiet. But over time, constructing other worlds became second nature to Clara. Walking down the New York City streets, she’d imagine herself in other lives, in other places, in another body. Writing felt like the one place she could really let go- as if stepping into somebody else’s shoes actually made her more like herself. She often saw herself as less of a person and more of an idea, an object that her parents could point to and justify their life, their marriage, their ideals. They both loved her a lot, she knew, but Clara was also sharp enough to know that they loved what she represented as well.
The stories Clara told herself in her head soon became stories written on paper. Clara was surprised at the positive response her work received, and in high school, she was published in a number of small journals, and staged an original play of her own. This life— seeing her words transformed into something living— was what Clara wanted. Not the life of lawyers that her parents had. By the time Clara applied to college, she had her pick of schools waiting for her. And why wouldn’t she? She was smart, hard-working, charming, beautiful. She was exactly what she was supposed to be. But, despite her parents’ protests that she study law at Yale, Clara decided to attend NYADA.
At NYADA, Clara studies playwriting, and lives with her best friend Cameron Ellis. Unlike most of the other students here, who boldly crave the spotlight, Clara works quietly and diligently. And it pays off: in her three years at school, she’s staged multiple original plays, all of which were met with praise. Her most recent play, a one-act entitled Crosswalks, about adolescence in the city, is her best work yet. Rumor has it that producers from Playwrights Horizon were even in attendance on closing night… Yet despite all of her success, Clara still feels like she has something to prove, searching for some sort of approval that she’s never fully realized.
001. COMPETITION AT CALLBACKS
We’re kicking things off around here with an event! And nothing screams the NYADA social scene more than a Friday night out at Callbacks, everyone’s favorite piano bar. All you need to have a good time is a fake ID and your show face. Except this week.
Tonight’s normal open mic has turned into a competition- and participation is required in order to enter the bar. Whether you want to sing, dance, perform a monologue, beat-box, pull a rabbit out of a hat, or read your slam poetry, you must show your stuff. There’s an incentive, though. The best performer of the night wins free drinks at Callbacks for the rest of the year, plus unlimited bragging rights.
This event takes place on Friday, October 19, but we will be playing it out on the dash, using face to face interactions from 4 PM EST Thursday to 4 PM EST Sunday. All other dash interactions will be paused during that time, but you’re of course encouraged to text, post on social media, etc.
While our characters will be battling it out for the best performance of the night, we’ll be hosting our own competition on the ooc discord page. Throughout the weekend we’ll be playing a series of games as a group, and the player with the most points by the end of the event wins.
Thaaat’s it! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. And break a leg!

Name: Ezekiel James Evans Age & Birthday: 20 (30 October) Gender & Sexual Identity: cis male (he/him), pansexual Major & Year: Dance track--modern Year: Freshman Faceclaim: Chance Perdomo
(+ observant, sharp, flirty & - self-sabotaging, unhinged, noncommittal)
Biography:
(tw deportation/family separation)
Ezekiel James Evans’ defining trait has always been that he doesn’t really care about things. He just rides the wave of life, doesn’t get worked up about things, doesn’t plan ahead, has no goals and is always living in the moment. Though he’s definitely the most chilled out person in the room at any given moment, he’s still a ball of pent up energy and always has been, and that’s something he’s always channelled into dancing. His household was always a musical one, and so he was dancing as soon as he was walking. He’s never been trained, and never wanted to be. He’s never danced for anything other than the joy of it.
When Zeke was 19, he was working a bartending shift. When he came home, the house was disturbingly still. It was late, his parents should’ve been home, and yes asleep, but the radio should’ve been on in the living room for him. But the radio was off, the beds were empty, and Zeke only found out what happened after having a hushed conversation with a neighbour a few hours later who’d seen the whole thing. His parents had been taken as soon as they’d finished work, and they were being deported back to Guatemala for having overstayed their visas and there was nothing Zeke could do to stop it.
Suddenly having the only two people he really ever cared about past the surface level ripped away felt like having a bucket of ice water dumped on him. Sure he’d always known it was a possibility, that they were never really safe but… his parents were the best people he knew, they’d always worked hard and been careful. They’d been working on becoming legal citizens for as long as Zeke could remember, so he’d always assumed it’d get sorted out, that things would be fine. See? Chill. Calm. Fat load of good that did him.
He still doesn’t care. At least not for himself. He couldn’t care less about himself. But his parents gave up everything and a half for him. The least he can do is try to make that sacrifice worth it by making something of himself. And all he really knows he’s actually good at — besides snarking and flirting — is dancing. And maybe if he can make something of himself, he can help them, give back somehow. So he forced himself to go through the rigorous application process for NYADA, somehow got himself in some kind of low-income scholarship no less, and is trying his best to convince himself that he hasn’t made some kind of terrible mistake. He’s a nearly 21-year-old freshman who’s only here to give his parents something to be proud of, something to believe in.
But seriously, if you’re expecting him to be one of those overdramatic, committed artsy types, think again. He’s going to work hard for what it can get him, not out of some delusional dream of being a star like half the high strung weirdos enrolled at NYADA. And he’s still Zeke — more likely to be found making out with someone pretty, concocting some kind of monstrous experiment in his kitchen, or working a night shift at the bar than overanalyzing videos of himself dancing and spending hours in the gym.
Name: Oliver Patrick Ellis Age & Birthday: 18 (3 October) Gender & Sexual Identity: cismale (he/him), bisexual Major: Performance Track--Musical Theatre Year: Freshman Faceclaim: Joshua Bassett
(+ enthusiastic, outgoing, passionate & - impatient, superstitious, promiscuous)
Biography:
- Growing up in the shadow of your brother isn’t something everyone hopes for, but for Oliver Ellis, that’s all he’s known. He was born about 18 months after his brother & from day one, they were inseparable. Ollie loved having an older brother & best friend & at times, the two were confused for being twins and in a way, he believed them. That is until Cam started going to school, leaving Ollie alone to find new ways to entertain himself. He found this in exploring his imagination & soon, playing pretend became his favorite activity. An activity that would soon turn into performing in school plays & community theatre. Seeing his growing interest over the years, his parents decided to enroll Oliver into dance, acting, & voice classes to prepare their son with the necessary skills he’d need to stick with theatre.
- Over the years, he developed & honed his skills enough to where he was getting more featured roles in productions. It was when he (ironically) won the leading role of Oliver in a community theatre production of Oliver, that he started to see that performing was something he always wanted to do. He researched all he could & decided that he wanted to be a professional actor when he grew up. From that point on, Oliver looked for any opportunity he could find to perform.
- When he got to high school, however, he started to doubt his talents when he saw the other kids he’d be auditioning with. It also didn’t help that his dad was not only the school’s music teacher, but he ran the drama department as well - also the fact that now he & Cam were at the same school again & would be auditioning together started to weigh on Ollie. For two years, he was cast as the sidekick or featured ensemble roles, but he really wanted a lead. The pressure to perform & disappointment with the parts he was getting & all the typical other anxieties a teenager in high school faced started to really get to Oliver. He started shutting himself in his room at home to get some time to himself since he saw Cam & his dad everyday at school. He started writing down how he was feeling & eventually would put these words to song on the guitar he got for his 15th birthday. Ollie discovered a new passion for songwriting & it helped take him out of his depression & develop a new skill. He started performing his songs at talent shows at school & at open mic nights in his town. He was the happiest he’d been in a while and, after Cam graduated, Oliver finally started to get cast in more leading roles.
- Before he knew it, Oliver was a senior & the topic of college was brought up at seemingly every moment he was home. With Cam off at NYADA, it was just him, his parents, & his baby sister, Isobel. His mother was a professor of English Literature at Syracuse University & was well-versed on this subject. Obviously his parents were supportive of his dreams and encouraged Oliver to go after them, but to also be practical in his decision. He’d visited the Syracuse campus a number of times and, though it was impressive & his favorite color was predominantly featured, he knew he didn’t want to go to a school so close to home even if he was guaranteed to get in. Ollie decided to visit his brother on the NYADA campus for a weekend & instantly fell in love. NYADA had everything Oliver wanted in a school, but wasn’t sure how Cam would feel about him going to the same school. Ultimately, though, Oliver took the plunge & auditioned; he’d talk it through with Cam later. Soon after, his acceptance letter from NYADA arrived in the mail & his mind was made up: he was going to be attending one of the top conservatories in the country that would prepare him for (what he was hoping would be) a fantastic & rewarding career.
- Oliver is excited to start at NYADA, though a little apprehensive about it. He’s worried that he got in only because he’s Cam’s brother & isn’t sure he has what it takes to succeed. Still, he’s going to try his hardest to not let that get to him & he’ll put all his effort into his classes. Though…if a good-looking co-ed catches his eye, Ollie might have to make an exception. After all, he is in a unique position & he’d hate to miss out on the fun college can offer.

( + carefree, charismatic, supportive & - impulsive, flippant, self-indulgent)
Biography:
- The only child of a critically acclaimed director and musical theatre producer, some would say that the arts run in Leo’s veins. But for a while it didn’t seem that way. A child who constantly acted out for attention from two busy parents, Leo was always getting into all kinds of trouble. To keep him busy, his parents enrolled him into piano lessons and the rest was history.
- Though Leo was certainly busier with piano, he never quite lost his fun-loving streak, he just learned how to hide it better. Popular at his high school, he was often the ringleader of parties, sneaking out and pranks and if he wasn’t the ringleader, he was a highly willing participant. But when he got behind his family’s grand piano, something always changed. It is the one thing in his life that he has always taken seriously and has grounded him until today.
- Leo has always felt like New York City was his playground and he’s always one to rattle off a list of the hottest new restaurants, visiting exhibits and pop-up roof top bars. He’s a recurring name on VIP lists and due to his father’s celebrity, he has been known to make it into a tabloid or two. He’s never had a real girlfriend or boyfriend, and can brush people off after a night or a few weeks without thinking much about it.
- After graduating, Leo hopes to compose movie scores. It’s all that he has ever wanted to do, and he isn’t practical enough to have a back-up plan.
- Leo is the first to note that he comes from a privileged background, where things have come easily to him. But despite this acknowledgement, he has the tendency to act impulsively, which can hurt the people closest to him without Leo ever foreseeing the consequences.
