Birthday

The 9th of January.

That's a date I'll never forget. It's been an entire year now since that day. Quite a lot has happened since meeting little Ceru back then. To think she was such a tiny little thing barely clinging on. She had such a tiny little firey plume and was barely even warm. I was confident that despite our efforts to save her she'd pass away.

Now it's her birthday!

She's survived an entire year despite everything! And I couldn't be happier. Having that tiny Ceruledge in my life has been one of the best things to ever happen.

I went to go and wake her this morning for her birthday but found an empty cot! Since when did she learn to climb out of her bed? I searched her room in case she was hiding or found somewhere better to sleep for the night. Nothing. No sign of her in her bedroom. Where on earth could she have gone? She wasn't in MY room!... Though I wouldn't put it past not-awake me to not notice.

Acting on a feeling, I went to check on Arma, her adopted brother. Quietly opening the door so as to not wake them too suddenly I spotted the two knight Pokémon in question. Both curled up asleep in Arma's bed.

How could I wake them both up now? They looked so peaceful and cosy all snuggled together like that.

All I could do is give a smile before trying to leave them be as quietly as I could. It was the early hours of the morning after all. There was all day for everyone to celebrate Ceru's first Birthday. Plus it means I have more time to get her a decent cake too!

The 9th of January. I'll always remember that day we first met Ceru. Sometimes I wonder if you remember it too?
