class: druid

dumb as bricks (-1 INT) but with a heart of…well not gold? i’d say fool’s gold at best, briar is a baldurian who wanted to get away from the stresses of the city and found silvanus after visiting a nearby forest to connect with her roots.

she grew up in baldur’s gate thieving and deceiving to survive, lying and charming her way through most situations to get her way. these days she sometimes falls back into her old habits, especially with the threat of the tadpoles, but she’s learning to move past that.

she didn’t do things for the greater good initially, only doing things that helped her survive. it just so happened that saving halsin and the grove was the better option for her survival at the time.

as she carried on though she found herself slowly but surely caring more for her party and her allies. she found herself going out of her way to help people because it was the right thing to do, not because it was the best thing to do.

she fell into a relationship with astarion first. what first started as casual sex turned into something deeper, and though it’s rather complicated she is fiercely protective of him. he reminds her of herself, she supposes.

her relationship with halsin started as that of a mentor/mentee. briar is rather new to being a druid, and he showed her their ways on the way to the shadow cursed lands. they meditated together, wildshaped and lazed in the sun often and had many talks about the oak father’s teachings. there was always the undertone of…something though. something deeper, more primal, but they didn’t act on it until after thaniel and oliver got reunited.

i imagine that halsin notices her habits of lying and trickery to get her out of sticky situations. she sometimes does it with him, not that she means to. he can see she’s genuinely working on it. it’s just that she doesn’t quite know who she really is, and he finds it a privilege to help her along that journey. if he sees that she’s bullshitting him, though, he nips it in the bud very quickly with a stern stare.

FUN FACT: she DID dance with wyll and kiss him, but realised that he was far more interested in romance than she was at the time. now they’re good friends and banter often.

my evil tav (not a durge! a lolth sworn drow who wants to see the world burn for her own amusement) is dating gale at the moment and im struggling to wrap my head around how that works because the playthrough is still very much evil. she does not want to be a better person because she already thinks she’s the best thing in faêrun. but she’s dating GALE??

to be fair, at first it was because my other tav, briar, is already dating astarion and i wanted to experience a gale romance and the fact that gale didn’t run when i absolutely massacred the grove is baffling to me.

again, i’m not a durge. i’m just an evil tav.

and now that i want to write about them im really struggling because a drow would not normally go for a man who has the air of a third son about them. so like…what’s their relationship like? what’s the dynamic? at the very least he is head over heels in love with her.

idk, any ideas? i’d like to know what you guys think?

I think people forget that race qualities that are in the game aren't a rulebook. There's really no real limitations to who they can be with, it's all up to how you view their worldview. Though if you're going for as canon as possible to Bg3's portrayal of lolth sworn, you could very easily say that Gale is the lesser in the relationship. Women raised in the under dark are typically raised to view themselves as better than men.

The fun part about Gale as well is that he doesn't want to die. So he can be convinced to stay through all of the evil shit. He knows that he can leave at any time but that will result in not only his death but countless others if he doesn't make it to a remote enough location first. You could have him all the way to the end and it would still be very canon for him to be present.

i’m very much aware that race qualities aren’t a rule book , but they make for good flavour text in terms of my pc backstories. i had set out to do an evil tav playthrough from the beginning and i thought a female lolth sworn drow would have a few more fun options in terms of dialogue and npc reactions. she’s meant to be more of a “lore accurate” drow because that’s just how i see her as. plus i thought writing for her would be fun and very different from how i normally write characters! i just didn’t think of what that would mean when romancing gale as her and now i’m kind of stuck lol.

i don’t always do this either. my favourite pc is a dragonborn who doesn’t act like a dragonborn at all and her backstory doesn’t match it either. she’s kind of her own person.

Genuinely I did not mean any offense, I only said that because I had noticed a trend of people not really knowing what to do with Drow characters, it wasn't intended as a slight on you so I apologize for the way that it came off.

My point was simply that with Gale you kind of have a shit ton of options for who you want to play and still have him love you.
