The AO3 Collection is now open: Voices of Glory: A QZGS Podfic Event (2026)
A 3-month long QZGS focused Podfic Event to encourage the creation of podfics within the QZGS English Fandom as requested on the TKAA Discord Server! There will be Raffle Tickets to be earned by creating podfics to put towards Raffle Prizes.
Please see the (2026) Event Guidelines, Raffle Rules/Prizes, and Resources document for the rules of the events, raffle rules and prizes, and more resources for making podics. It's the main stop and will link you to the QZGS Podfic Event Resources Drive that includes event info but also resources for creating podfics, including some amazing recordings to help with name pronunciation etc.
The Voices of Glory Carrd is honestly much less helpful but it exists as mainly for links to helpful resources (sorry I kind of gave up on trimming the info for it as I failed and was rushing.)

Real life, other events, and announcements likely put this event on the back burner for many people. People seemed amendable to it, and it shouldn't cut TOO much into RBB territory. So, announcing that a month long extension has been added for the Voices of Glory this year. I guess we'll just do an entire Spring and some cushioning.
The new end date will be June 30, 2026 23:59:59 UTC, and that is for podfics posted in order to earn Raffle tickets. Ticket form will as such be open an additional 24 hours into July.
I'm also lowering the minimum word count a podfic must be to be able to earn raffle tickets. I'm thinking it might be easier for newbies or out-of-practice returners to maybe record a shorter fic. The new minimum is 500 words per podfic. I'm thinking of what to do for the longer podfics, there might still be an incentive small merch items Raffle for tickets. That's still under construction on trying to figure out what to do.
Anyway, it's been quiet from me as I didn't want to interject to remind during active other events. So, hopefully this will help people find time if they wanted to make a podfic but forgot because of all the fun events we've had going on! Also to make up for me being a bad host oof.

telling stories with my friends - a d20 fic off 2026 retrospective and masterlist
I wrote a lot of fic for the Dimension 20 fic off @d20ficoff this year. I have a lot of feelings about it.
I've been out of the fic writing game for a while. The last time I published more than 2 fics in a year was probably 2013. I mostly moved onto podfic.
I joined the fic off server about a week before the event started. I'd mostly been looking for places where I could find a beta reader. I did not know that I had just started my most ambitious fandom project in a long, long time.
I wrote a lot for fic off. I wrote more than 40,000 words. An absolutely gargantuan effort for me. I had a lot of firsts that I never thought I'd hit - first f/f, first horror fic, first real fight scenes. I also finally finished an esports au fic, something I've been crafting up on and off since I started following League of Legends esports in 2021.
I want to give a massive shoutout and thank you to the organisers of the event (who let me push my luck a few times in regards to adhering to prompts) and the absolutely lovely Team Jet (who cheerled some crazy fic ideas and who made my morning backreads an absolute delight).
The game board was a great mechanic and really inspired me to try to help my team unlock more prompts by writing things I usually wouldn't. In the last week and a bit of the event, I decided I was going to try and fill as many holes as possible, which meant writing even more stuff I usually wouldn't.
Without further ado, here is my fic off fic masterlist, with some fun stats at the end. All fics are G or T unless otherwise noted.
Cloudward Ho
the cloho lolesports au (8 works, 10k words)
I would say this is the most self-indulgent thing I've ever written, but I know I've done worse. This is my love letter to watching pro League and T1's absolute circus. The tone swings wildly between installments. Most of the crew are in a drama while the Gotch brothers are in a comedy. Every title comes from a song associated with the game. If you love niche AUs that are nigh unintelligible, this is the series for you.
don't wander in the dark alone (2 works, 2.3k words)
NPC Gotch brother character studies. A little angsty, a little joyful. Writing this made me love them more.
infinity in the palm of your hand (1k words)
This is backed by absolutely nothing in canon, but Maxwell Gotch as a maths nerd was so fun to me. The title is a reference to something really dear to me in my real life.
98 Days (3.5k words, MCD)
Torse is given three months to live and his systems are failing. Max is there until the end. A collab fic! This was a bit of a rough one to write - I wrote a fair bit of the last quarter of the fic, and it's based on some things I've researched and experienced but it's not fully autobiographical.

This is an outsider POV of the Straka fight with the NPC crew we meet for one scene that I would never have written without the prompt. I love Monty and this is a reflection of that love.
Fantasy High

Originally supposed to be a collaborative 75k one shot, but the idea fell apart. I started writing about songwriting and then decided to write songs to help me with that. The lyrics are trite and the metaphors are hanging on by a thread, but hey. That's what happens in a fic off. Big emotions, lots of fuzzy friendship moments. A little dose of comedy. This was my big undertaking of the fic off, and it was so much fun.

I was looking at the horror and time loop prompts, but I didn't want it to be just horror, so I went with horror/comfort and a little bit of a loopy concept. I contemplated making it more horror at the end but I really like fluff and the Gukgaks make me so happy. Without the prompt, I would never have written this.

For Digby and Wilma, creation is an act of love. This is a love letter to building and to creating and to love itself. Fun fact! This is currently the only fic in the Digby/Wilma tag.
come out of the ashes (967 words)
A character study on Ankarna, using one of my favourite League of Legends songs. It's a really fun song with great pop production and it gives me so much energy when I hear it. I loved trying to mirror heavy vs light. Without the prompt, I don't think I would have written this songfic, but I probably would have used this song in a few more places.

Here is the evidence of my love of the Gukgaks. This is a Pok becomes a a Saint fic and I had so much fun with it. You'll notice that Cathilda is Fabian's parent in that section and not Hallariel, because Cathilda >>> Hallariel.

A time loop of the Viva Mas Vegas live show, played for laughs. The characters have no idea why they're in it. They keep trying to play roulette. It all started as two of us throwing ideas back and forth in the Discord and it ended up as this really silly time.

Raymond Zam is such a guy. I rotated him a lot in this fic. There's a fair bit of violence in this, which you would expect for a fic completely inspired by the hot exit scene at Rec 97.

Samwell Gotch is reasonable. Or so he is told.
He doesn't feel reasonable when Blanewell is born, and he realises he doesn’t have as much time with his mother as he did in the past. He cherished the handful of moments he had with her, between society events and obligations. He forgets his childish jealousy when his nanny distracts him with his favourite toy, and he turns back to the games he plays by himself, away from the eyes of his parents.
He doesn’t feel reasonable when he’s pulling Maxwell, snarling and kicking, away from Hatwell. When Roywell cheers on the violence and Wealwell is sick from it. It doesn’t feel reasonable to take the slow approach when any of his brothers are hurting, when Roywell gets in a scuffle with Johnwell and both won’t tell him why. He can’t protect them all the time, not when he’s away at school while everyone else is home. He wants to stay, to make sure they’re all safe, but it wouldn’t be the reasonable thing to do.
When Wealwell comes to him, sobbing, he doesn’t feel reasonable. He can only tell him not to anger Hatwell. But Samwell knows that won’t help. He knows that Wealwell knows that Hatwell will go after Maxwell instead if he can’t find Wealwell, and despite their youngest brother being an absolute menace, they both admire his tenacity and his commitment to being true to himself. The hopeless look in Wealwell’s eyes when the platitude leaves his tongue is going to haunt him until he dies.

Samwell Gotch is reasonable. It feels like a curse.
He swallows his pride and changes his major from physical chemistry to business accounting and hates every second of it. The content is the worst kind of dry. He doesn’t care for it at all. The people his father wants him to associate with are the scion of other wealthy houses, and they’re almost all completely insufferable. His other classmates either want nothing to do with him or they want him as a step in their ladder. It’s an utterly miserable experience, and he speeds through his courses to leave as soon as possible.
Samwell has his marriage arranged and it feels like the end of the world. He cannot rebel; it would be unreasonable. Luckily, he and Fiora come to an understanding - she wants to be here as much as he does, which is not at all. She is ruthless and stern, but they find enough common ground in comparing notes about their siblings. They both know they must keep up appearances.
His father calls him reasonable, and it’s done with a sneer on his face. It wasn’t always this way. It used to be praise to be reasonable, but then Maxwell started calling him reasonable. Now, his father only calls him reasonable when Samwell tries to tell him that some flight of fancy isn’t realistic. Reasonable means disagreeable, and Samwell uses Fiora as an excuse to stay away from home.

Samwell Gotch is done being reasonable.
He visits the Revington campus for one of his physics classes and stumbles by accident into the kickboxing club’s practice session. It’s exhilarating. He finds himself sneaking in for the remainder of his university career. He’s never officially on the register, but a few dollars under the table means no one questions his presence. Training pulls him away from homework. He lets his grades slip from perfect to exemplary, and instead spends his time practising. Every bruise and scratch is evidence of his rebellion against being reasonable, against his father's expectations. He relishes the promise written into his skin, uses it to stand tall when class and life threaten to tear him down.
On the top of the flying beast, he stands with Maxwell. It feels unreasonable by all standards to leave behind status and wealth, heading towards uncertainty and adventure, but nothing has ever felt so certain in his bones. He feels it even when Hatwell crashes into him so hard he thinks he glimpses the afterlife, feels it when he opens his eyes to a dinosaur leaning over him. He swings up onto the deck of what he later learns is the Zephyr and is greeted by Wealwell crashing into him, holding him upright with the warmth and love he knows to expect from his steadiest brother. Samwell lifts his tired arms to wrap around Wealwell, and lets his younger brother hold him up.
In a hall in Zumhara, he chooses to remain on the adventure. He's done avoiding the unknown because there might be dead ends. He stays on the Zephyr the whole time they’re in Gath, learning about what it takes to keep the ship in the sky. He sees Wealwell and Maxwell off, preferring not to question the gleam in their eyes. He sends a letter to the family lawyer instructing him to update the terms of the trust, and another letter to Fiora to let her know his intentions. He gets a reply from her before they return to Zood. He smiles as he reads it, her thinly veiled reprimands and approval, then tucks it away, turning to the preparations to set sail once more.
On the deck of the Zephyr, gazing out at the endless sky, Wealwell and Maxwell beside him, Samwell breathes in the cool air, lets it settle into his bones. Maybe it isn’t reasonable, but he’s ready to take his life into his own hands.

Pirates are gangs of bastard heroes and the navy is nothing but a fleet of cowards – that’s what the average citizen will tell you these days. After all, it was pirates who stepped up to defend the people when the Constellations appeared.
Viktor has been living aboard Blisters as a Sea Witch, wielding the one thing that can actually hurt these monsters: magic. The Zaunite crews have become a family to him and his life is almost like a fantasy. But when someone has everything, that means they have everything to lose. A Sea Witch can not perform magic alone, they need a weapon; a witch’s Athame. Until Viktor finds a suitable partner, he won’t be able to protect his family. That’s when a half-dead Piltie washes up on Zaun’s shores with fancy clothes, navigational equipment, and a glowing blue stone that smells of magic.
Viktor is stuck with a choice, he can let fear paralyze him or he can find strength in those around him. Luckily, the people by his side make the harder choice well worthwhile.

Cheat Code #3 for accommodating disabled characters in sci-fi/fantasy:
If you want your setting to be accommodating, change the environment more than the person.
i.e.: On a worldbuilding level, if you want to portray a society that keeps disabled people in mind, then that needs to be reflected more broadly, even without your disabled character on screen. Because this means that your society was considering disabled people as part of itself when it was figuring out what's necessary.
If your computer takes voice commands, it should also have an optional keyboard in case someone can't speak.
If your magic school has multiple floors, it should have a teleporting rune circle for those that can't take the ever-changing stairs.
Whenever you have a feature you're adding, ask yourself—"If my character couldn't use this, what would they do instead?" And if the answer is "they'd have to wait until they could" or "they need someone else to use it for them," then your setting isn't accommodating. An accommodating setting always has an actionable answer to that question.
And as a bonus, if you follow through with it, oftentimes you'll end up with a more interesting world and story overall. Spells most people can speak can be written in ancient elven instead? That means you can have a character sneak a spell into a magic-banned city by writing it on their hair ribbon, and that it's possible that a book might be a self-generating spell on its own. Your spaceship has textured lines on the walls to let blind people navigate without guidance? Not only can you make it look artistic (different colored paints, glowing patterns), but now your engineer can make it to the warp core when the power's out and oxygen's finite.
Don't limit yourself just to what's needed in the moment. Figure out interesting alternatives to your setting's features, and your world will automatically feel more alive.

We all know about the Twitter immigrants, but there seems to be radio silence on what's happening now with Reddit users from certain subreddits doing a similar thing.
What's happening?
Reddit is restricting their API later this month and killing off third-party apps. An AMA (Ask Me Anything) with the CEO Steve Hoffman was held and it was clear that he would continue with the changes.
In protest, thousands of subreddits across the site are planning to go dark for 48 hours on June 12th. Some are planning to continue indefinitely until the changes are reversed.
Okay, so how does this affect Tumblr?
Some subreddits (mainly queer and left-leaning meme ones, don't worry too much about Reddit Atheists™ overrunning us) are encouraging their users to jump ship to our beloved - and beloathed - hellsite. There will be another influx of new users and many will be unfamiliar with how the site works.
What do us Tumblr users do?
Show them how to use the site; introduce them to the site's culture, tell them to reblog shit and curate their dashboard. Sorta like how we welcomed Twitter users back when they flocked here. Kungpowpenising optional.
I'm new from Reddit, what do I do here?
CHANGE YOUR PROFILE PICTURE AND BANNER TO SOMETHING OTHER THAN DEFAULT BECAUSE THIS SITE IS FILLED WITH BOTS AND YOU MIGHT BE MISTAKEN FOR ONE. This is the FIRST thing you should do after getting a blog.

ETA: @mylittleredgirl advises that if you attach “www.” to the front of the URL, the site displays correctly. But this is still concerning, and suggests somebody’s either monkeying around with their .htaccess file—a fairly important piece of under-the-hood "equipment" for a website—or has possibly misconfigured the site in some other way.
At the moment there's no telling what's going on. Meanwhile, if I had anything over there, I’d back it up anyway.

What is a fanworks permission statement?
A fanworks permission statement (also known as a blanket permission statement or transformative works permission statement) is very simple: it's something you post in a publically-visible place (usually your AO3 profile) that tells other fan creators what you are and aren't okay with in terms of other people making fanworks based off your stuff. It can be as simple as a sentence or two, or as complicated as you want to communicate your preferences clearly.

A permission statement is for anyone that creates fanworks! Yes, even if you don't think anyone would ever want to create something based off your fanworks. You never know! It's not egotistical to post a permission statement, it's HELPFUL. Yes, even if you don't want people making something based off your works. It means no one has to reach out to ask you, they can know your preferences right away.
What do I even say in a permission statement?
