has anyone noticed theyre taking away what it means to be human
every major structural social problem right now is basically "we don't have enough skilled workers on the ground" and the reason is always "well we've been intentionally underpaying and understaffng them for decades to increase corporate profits" and somehow the news always just mentions the "shortage" without digging into the cause
air travel is a mess? shortage of air traffic controllers - for some mysterious reason
logistics a mess? shortage of truck drivers - for some mysterious reason
public transit can't meet demand? shortage of bus drivers - for some mysterious reason
We even mysteriously have shortages of doctors, nurses, teachers... FOR SOME MYSTERIOUS REASON
FUCKING PAY PEOPLE AND HIRE ENOUGH STAFF

I know your title says queer history but do you have any recommendations covering the straight movement? Specifically, how did hating queer people become a priority for the straights and why did they build their political project around it?
Wonderful question! Yes, I actually have read a bit about this!

For a very expansive historical look at this discussion:

For a book that looks at specifically the heterosexual experience of this:

I hope this helps!

Federal workers are going off.
My job was to monitor public land grazing and work with ranchers. I made barely 35k after taxes and was three weeks away from being off probation and getting a raise to a GS-9. I loved my job so fucking much and it was taken from me because of some goddamn rich fuck who has all the money in the world and yet can't make himself look better.
There are feds asking about their life insurance so that they can maybe kill themselves and save their family some financial problem. And my response to all these people is do not kill yourself. Kill the fucking problem instead. This is bullshit and I'll be damned if some rich silver spoon fed motherfuckers get to tell us that we can't do the jobs we love to save their greedy asses another goddamn penny.
We took an oath to uphold the constitution and serve the American people. That means something to me, and Im sure it means something to every other fed who lost their job. I can no longer hold the line of firings from my coworkers, but I can still serve the Constitution and the people of America by fighting back against these oligarchy fascist fucks.
girl shocked to discover that inaction can have consequences too
a long time ago i watched a tik tok from an older trans woman, in her 60’s or 70’s. someone had commented on another video of hers asking “why don’t we ever see trans men from your generation? why aren’t they involved in activism?” and her response was “because a lot of them died.” she told stories abt the trans men she knew who committed suicide rather than be married off and forced to live as a woman, or died from medical neglect or botched abortions. “they would be here if they could, but they can’t because the world failed them.”
