I have a question that I'm afraid may sound ignorant but I promise it's not coming from bad intention. But, if someone went their lives thinking they were 100% white, then took a DNA test to find they're something like 5%-10% indigenous American, would it be bad of them to claim being Native? Or would they still just be a white person and shouldn't claim it? Again, sorry if this sounds dumb or shitty

And what percent is too small too count? I think the nuances just confuse me, but that's probably my Autism? Sorry if I'm bothering u with the questions!

I do not answer blood quantum or Native identity questions like this, ancestry tests are typically bullshit & flawed to begin with, & half the time it mixes up Native dna with Asian dna & vice versa. If people suddenly want to claim being Native based on a single dna test with shaky evidence & nothing else, they should examine their motivations, first of all, because to me that's kinda suspicious & just sounds like they just don't want to be white

Usually, those percentages represent the odds of that person having that ancestry. Having a 5-10% chance of being Native American is quite different from being 5-10% of Native American extraction. But it’s easy to see how someone might try to leverage that into a different sort of extraction.

The blouses and skirts and trousers adorn the bodies of the laundry’s octogenarian owners, Chang Wan-ji and Hsu Sho-er, who have become globally famous for modeling outfits curated from the hundreds of forgotten items left behind by absent-minded customers.

No one is more shocked than their 31-year-old grandson and unofficial stylist, Reef Chang, by the couple’s newfound fame. “I was really surprised,” the younger Mr. Chang said recently. “I had no idea so many foreigners would take interest in my grandparents.”

He originally came up with the idea for the Instagram account, he said. Their business had slowed during the coronavirus pandemic, and his grandparents were wary about going outside even as Taiwan took highly effective measures to fight the virus. With nearly 24 million people, Taiwan has reported only 458 cases, 55 local transmissions and seven deaths.

“They had nothing to do,” he said. “I saw how bored they were and wanted to brighten up their lives.”
