Sick list of symptoms bro. Now try humanizing your behavior instead of pathologizing it.
Pathologizing: Hey sorry I yelled at you. I have this ADHD symptom called RSD that makes me really sensitive.
Humanizing: Hey, Iām sorry that I blew up like that earlier. In the moment I felt really attacked and overwhelmed and I reacted badly, but I know you didnāt mean to offend me with what you said, so that behavior is on me.
Because I just saw a post bitching about this one, I want to add: this post is saying that you need to take accountability for the way you hurt other people, even if it happens because of a symptom of your disability/illness. It's also saying that using terms (especially acronyms) that aren't common knowledge isn't a helpful way to explain yourself. It is NOT saying that you need to let people walk all over you because "your disability isn't an excuse."
If you're diabetic, you don't have to eat the honey glazed ham that will send you into a coma (their example). But you also can't yell at the person offering it and accuse them of trying to kill you. You can just say "thanks, but my body can't handle that kind of sugar intake, so I'll pass"
If you run over someone's foot with your wheelchair you still apologise
with love. you have to fact check shit. yes you. you still have to fact check shit. a lot of people are great at fact checking stuff they donāt want to be true, but somehow are still absolute ass at fact checking stuff thatās rhetorically convenient to them. even people my age, who I KNOW grew up doing internet/bibliography literacy workshops, and being warned not to believe anything that isnāt reliably sourced, people who DO harp on fact checking conservative output or whatever, are still kneejerk sharing unsourced shit that is partially or wholly untrue or misleading, because it suits whatever narrative theyāre pursuing in that moment, without even a ātake this with a grain of saltā. fact check!!!!!! look at the sources!!!!! yes itās a drag!!! do it!!!!!
two meads in and i'm asking my knight if i can feel how sharp his blade is š¤¦āāļø i'm giggling and kicking my feet too. should i ask him to press it against my neck or is that too forward
my summer plans consist of unclenching my jaw + forgiving myself
Quick shout out to the Down syndrome kid from my after-school program back when I was in grade school. Like yea he had the usual issues but he was a sweetheart and quite funny; and one day both his parents showed up at the same time to pick him up and I had the experience of meeting a family of genetically disabled people that had jobs and a home and a kid in school and it was a profoundly normalizing experience for me like I couldnāt take eugenicists seriously after that because like āno they totally can have whole entire meaningful lives with marriage and children and work and hobbies have you not met Dennis??ā Anyway quick shout out to Dennis you were a real one
"We need to convey the idea that the characters are related to each other to show that's why we grouped them together."
"Uhhh how about they all have the same pose and expression of a disappointed mother?"
"Perfect!"
Getting down on my knees and thanking the humans who invented dishwashers and washing machines.
InsNe that dishwashers are more efficient and easier than just washing them manually but they also use less water. Itās a win win situation
They ALSO sterilize dishes, due to operating at a far higher temperature than human hands could ever tolerate. It's a win every way.
Made this post about 15 minutes after the repair guy who fixed the pump on my dishwasher packed up his tools and left, as the dishwasher was whirring along doing my dishes from that morning.
He said the exact same thing, which I did not know before that, so spreading this knowledge.
I know in my heart Jason Grace desperately needs a shoulder massage that shit is tense as FUCK
still grinding in the waking world, so take this rendition of mymble reuniting with snufkin as an apology and a vow to return in august
*fades into the mists*
Not every story is about seeing yourself in it. Sometimes itās about learning to see other people too.
i mean this in the nicest way possible but some of you need to learn how to be annoyed
people are going to annoy you and thatās not a reason to burn bridges or blow up relationships
some people will even annoy you often! some people arenāt good at social cues and will therefore be frequently annoying! still not a reason to blow everything up!
The thing about āitās just banterā that always irks me is that we see the effects of Arthurās ābanterā on Merlin. We see the way he stops valuing his own opinions and speaking up and making sure people understand that his presence is not just supposed to be laughed at. We see how he rants and gets angry at the lacking recognition and empathy granted to him. We see how he is irreparably changed by the loneliness Arthur forces upon him. At some point it stopped being banter and started being abuse and to dismiss it as nothing but a joke will always make me upset when that ājokeā has lasting consequences.
something something about quasars being trillion times brighter than the sun. so much matter falling into a supermassive black hole heating up as it spirals and emitting a glow brighter than galaxies. something about falling into the void and emerging as one of the brightest things ever
the "my favorite character did nothing wrong" mindset is completely unappealing to me because i love thinking about all the things my favorite characters did wrong
it is always narratively correct to make your characters sleep together before they sort through the hundreds of lies and misdirections between them. make things worse make things worse make things worse #i love betrayal #i love lying #i love people feeling bad about themselves
