Testing out a new lip color, #copenhagen by @nyxcosmetics #matte #softmatte #lipcreamnyx
In just two short years, Gwen Jimmere has taken her natural haircare product line from passion project to side hustle to the shelves of Whole Foods Markets throughout the U.S., Trinidad, Indonesia, and she's currently working to distribute in South Africa. āNATURALICIOUS was truly started ...
REVIEW: Au Natural Moisture LOC Shampoil
If youāre rocking natural hair, transitioning, or just lurking in the natural hair space, youāve undoubtedly heard of the L.O.C method for moisturizing natural tresses.Ā
Earlier this year, Dark and Lovely launched Au Naturale Moisture L.O.C, a new collection of products formulated for naturally curly hair that follows the L.O.C method. Designed to take you from cleanser to finished style, the line contains 5 products, a shampoo (shampoil), deep conditioner, leave-in conditioner, hair oil, and a sealing cream. I saw promos and review teasers all over social media, and being the product junkie I am, I jumped at the opportunity to review the shampoil from this new line.
So how did I like it? Head on over to my post on curlsunderstood.com to read more.
My happy place. Can't believe this is the first time I'm getting to the beach this summer.
One of my pics from #blogher15. I've got to learn how to take pics with this hair. #rise #headshot
I was overdue for a deep cleansing so I broke out the #bentoniteclay. Look at that definition though. I see great hair in my future! #washday #washdaychronicles #naturalhair #naturalhairjourney #curlyhair #kinkyhair #coilyhair #blackhair #hairmask
Not a great pic of me but @sunkissedalba looks great as always. #blogher15
Shop & Talk with @camillerosenaturals at #harmonfacevalues in NYC
My fave swag from Evening at The Expo. #dunkindonuts #sheamoisture4u #wordpress #stylecaster. In that meant to be way they all work together. To me they say beach day. Time to pile in the car and head to the sand surf...when #blogher15 is over of course.
Blogher15 Day 1ish
TIRED TIRED TIRED! Even though I got to NYC early, had a little bit of time to relax in my room, and even grab an early dinner with one of my favorite sorority sisters, I was pooped by 10pm. And the party was just getting started. Evening at the Expo was great. And of course I made a beeline to the Shea Moisture and Dunkin Donuts booths. I also stopped by the Stylecaster Suite and the Multiculti Party to mingle and grab some eats and treats. The introvert in me (attending the conference by myself) and the fact that I spent much of the day on the road, quickly tired out and headed back to my room to catch some ZZZZs but not before I used some of SheaMoistures body scrub from the new Fruit Fusion and Coconut Water line (given as samples at their booth). A shower was the perfect way to wind down, and I smelled heavenly and had super smooth skin as I slid underneath the sheets and turned out the lights.
Yoga this morning was great, not only because I'm now open, awoke and ready to attack the day but also because I was able to meet Sheryl Underwood. #blogher15 #yoga #stretch #sculpt
Obsessing: Candle making. My first attempt yesterday. Gonna burn one tonight to see how it smells and how it burns.
Commitment & Follow
As oft happens, I got all excited about NaBloPoMo, planned to participate, added my tumblr to the blogroll list, and then found myself SEVERAL weeks into the month and no blog posts have been written. In an effort to be disciplined and follow through with the commitment I've made, the next few days will be a MASSIVE game of catch up.
I will be following the prompts provided, but I hope to be able to weave a story that provides more insight into who I am and the focus of Observe and Obsess.
Best Present Ever
My best present ever has been self love. Like any woman, any person, there have always been things I didn't like about my physical appearance. Some things I could control (or at the very least try to control) like hyper-pigmentation; some things, like my height, I have no control over. Despite many attempts to loose weight/get fit/live a healthy lifestyle, all in all, the little insecurities that creep in every now and again, all in all, I've always have been relatively comfortable in the skin I'm in.
Summer 2014 was a pivotal moment in self acceptance, self love, and overall confidence. Coming out of a not so great--thatās putting it mildly--relationship, I cut off the last inch or so of my relaxed hair and was finally 100% natural. In a period of about 10 years, I had made several attempts to transition to natural and never quite made it. After cutting off the last bit of relaxer last summer, I felt myself begin to blossom into a more confident woman. I LOVED wearing my natural hair, and though I had never thought of it in this way while transitioning, I felt more authentic sporting my natural locks. The confidence awakened a self awareness and self love that had always been lurking beneath the surface, but finally had a chance to bloom when I cut off the dead weight.
Loving myself in the way that was needed and that I deserved, also brought another gift (my second best present ever?), the love of another.

(via Natural Hair Update | Length Check & Why I GAVE UP Deva Cuts?!! | Alyra)
In her length check video, Alisha shares why she is giving up Deva Cuts. Ā I have been debating about getting a Deva Cut (currently I get my hair straightened about once every 3 months in order to get a trim, but Iām a bit concerned about even the slightest heat damage as a result). Iāve held back because 1. I donāt like a lot of people (read more than 1-, my current stylist) in my hair with scissors and 2. Even though I donāt intend on straightening my hair often, I donāt want a cut that looks great curly and horrendous when straightened. 3. I donāt see a lot of posts, photos, etc. of type 4 curlies getting them. Any Type 4 naturals out there with experiences they want to share?
Obsess: Blogher15 & NaBloPoMo
I first heard of the Blogher Conference last year, right before the conference started. I really wanted to go, but the cost and timing just didnāt work out for me. In trueĀ āMeā fashion, it slid to the back of my mind, and here I am again, just a little more than a month out, and trying to figure out a way to attend the conference.
Observe & Obsess turned 1 today! Just got this update from Tumblr. I canāt believe a year has gone by already. There are still a TON of things I want to do with the blog, that I thought would be done by now. Life gets in the way sometimes, but a pleasant reminder to get you back on track is most certainly helpful! Thanks tumblrĀ staff !
