The hardest part of losing a beloved pet is not saying I love you for the last time. It's not even saying goodbye. It's coming home without them. It's seeing their belongings in your home and them not being there to enjoy it. It's them not being there to greet you when you wake up in the morning or when you get home from work.

When you think you've accepted your new normal, you see something either in a store or just in your home that reminds you of them and you're back to square one. Cry those tears. Feel those emotions because eventually, the pain will hurt less and you'll adjust to your new normal - life without them.
