to jerry and mike how do you both feel about trans portrayals of tycho and gabe? i know its been a thing for decades at this point to make them gay but i think this is a more relatively new phenomenon. i myself am transgender and i notice a lot of the other new gens are and tend to portray either or both of them as trans (in my personal experience it moreso comes from self projection but i dont want to claim its the same for others) and i was just wondering how you both felt about that

"People have used the characters for all manner of their own purposes for ever, as tools for learning to draw or write, and no small portion of those works tend to reach out into this space. Mork and I have absolutely no use for "masculinity" as its traditionally conceived, and so it's possible that we read in a way that makes it appear like there's some wiggle room in there somewhere. My eldest is trans, so I'm familiar with some of the dynamics - they identified the same things you have. We use the characters as tools to explore our own thoughts, so it's no big surprise that other people might also. Sorry, let me be less ambiguous: we think it's a good thing and are glad to be of use."
