I’ve been slowly working on illustrating my own Tarot deck about black cats.

I have a long way to go, but I’m nearly done with the major arcana.

Here are some of my favorites:

I set myself a design challenge (as I often do). I wanted to limit the color palette and the brush styles to create a very consistent look.

And since each card focuses on black cats, it forces me to think deeply about symbolism and design to make sure the meaning of each card is clear and each design is unique.

But there’s still a lot of variety coming through. It’s not all class, or all silliness - just like cats

I have a forearm tattoo of the cats in this one ☝️

I’m so happy with how both of these two managed to feel dark, but adorable at the same time.

And then there’s this one absolute diva:

Most of these used my own feline friends for reference.

There are more but I don’t know yet how many I want to share online. If I can actually complete the entire deck I would love to have it made. But I have a ways to go, so for now I continue to chip away, one card at a time.

The 2026 ICE detainee death toll is now at 6 as of January 18. Victor Manuel Diaz was a 36 year old man who was abducted by ICE in Minneapolis earlier in January. He is one of three deaths at the ICE detention center Camp East Montana, which opened in August 2025. Geraldo Lunas Campos was choked to death by guards on January 3. Francisco Gaspar-Andres died in December after being detained at the camp, where the ACLU says medical neglect, physical abuse by guards, and unsanitary conditions have created "a human and civil rights disaster."

One time I was leaving a friend's place and an older lady with basically no English came up to me and communicated that she was very cold and needed a ride. She pointed to tell me where to go.

I got there and her daughter or granddaughter came out and was like omg her phone died we were worried

And then the older lady said something and the younger lady translated.

"She knew she could trust you because you have pink hair"

I thought it was funny at the time. But when I think back on it I think she was basically saying "you had a visible sign of not vibing with the system I was afraid of"

Be weird. Be colorful. Help random people.

URGENT!!

Yesterday, a missile fell close to several people in northern Gaza, and one of Rawan’s brothers was one of them. Fortunately, he survived, but his injuries are serious. His body is riddled with shrapnel that needs removing and part of his spine is broken.

He’s currently in the hospital, but the building is destroyed and not the most sanitary, so their mother had to spend $500 that were originally for rent on a used bed so he won’t have to lie on the floor when he goes home. She also had to spend money on antibiotics and he will definitely need surgery.

Please understand the seriousness of the situation, don’t ignore this post. Just sharing it will help. If you can spare even $5, that’s great too. This is a hard blow for their family.
