I want to be clear that the reason I’m haunted by black sails is not its queer characters. It is because the show itself is in dialogue with the audience to ask you if you’re thinking critically about the systems, institutions, and messages you’re surrounded with every day, and if your own actions actually match up to your values.

Everyone else has already said it better than I have but this show says, “Everything is propaganda and if you aren’t aware of that you will not be able to exert your free will.”

I admit I don’t watch much television but this is so anarchist I’m dumbfounded that it was allowed to be produced.
