A goodbye of sorts

Mates! I wanted to thank you all - each one of you separately and the whole community as well - for the enthusiasm you've approached the creation of this fanbook with. The fanarts submitted were mindblowing and their quality, as well as their variety, blew me out of my boots!

This fandom is truly THE BEST FANDOM. And I want to thank you for that!

Alas! This blog has run its course. It will no longer be updated, and the messages will remain unseen, as I will not be logging in again (at least for a long time). It will be up, because the fanbook is too much of a treasure to let it rot in a forgotten part of the interwebs. That being said, this is the last post. Thank you for being here, thank you for participating, thank you for the trill and thank you for being YOU!

You're amazing! Yes, YOU!

I do hope your love for Black Sails will remain and survive for years yet, that you will continue to discover more and more details that will keep on making your heart throb with emotions. I also hope that you will keep on creating, because the quality of the fanart in this fandom rivals any gallery around the world.

a little trip down memory lane to when I went to see private lives, including a little text post I found in response to someone about how my theatre trips had gone that weekend

the only other thing I remember that I didn’t include in the text post was that when he was signing my playscript he made a comment jokingly about the others not leaving him a lot of room to sign his name which is why his autograph is almost vertical in my playscript and it kinda just ends 😂

and just to emphasise that he really didn’t have to end his phone call to talk to us, as soon as he emerged from the stage door and we saw that he was talking to someone we didn’t approach him so it really meant a lot to us that he went out of his way to come over and talk to us 🥺

I really wanna watch the recording of the play now but I’m scared 😭

Newton's First Law of Motion (Inertia) An object at rest remains at rest, and an object in motion remains in motion at constant speed and in a straight line unless acted on by an unbalanced force.

In essence, James was at rest. By at rest, I mean he was plugged into the machine. He was climbing the ranks, but in accordance with society. He didn’t have his own forward motion.

Miranda changed this. She diverted him from his personal inertia and set him rolling down a path which lead to Thomas. Thomas added weight and gravity, pulling him faster down that divergent path.

But when Miranda needed him to slow or stop, she couldn’t. The forward momentum propelled by his passion for Thomas was far too great for the obstacle of possible dangers she tried to set in his path to stop his motion, and the three of them, with Miranda digging in her heels and clinging desperately to their coat tails, plunged headlong over a cliff, one she’d been screaming at them about since she saw the direction they were headed.

They were both innocent. They were both at fault.

They were doomed from the start.

It’s done. Wouldn’t you agree?

This goes a long way toward explaining why conservatives seem to be embracing Black Sails when it goes against everything they hold dear. This guy uses Star Trek and The Last of Us as examples, but we might as well toss Black Sails in there, as well.

On this day five years ago I went to Ogden, Utah in full McGraw uniform to give #TobyStephens a book of Flint fanart by amazing artists from the #BlackSails fandom for his 50th birthday. How has it been 5 years? Still one of the best days of my life. 📕🏴‍☠️

His wife and I went to Charles Town to argue for the pardons, to make peace with England, and she was killed for it. England has shown herself to me.
