Jones had no idea if this shop sold such a ghastly, hunger-inducing tome. But Frank was hungry, and won’t stop yelling 'till he meets “Meatphisto”. It felt ridiculous to ask such a dumb question, but Frank was outside, brain peering through the window, as if he was spying on the situation… for no reason.

“Dumb question, I know, but my lumbering friend wants to fight a meat demon.”

Oh, he was one of the ones who came to pick out one of their Special Books.

That was always a helluva thing... Especially when the customer couldn’t contain themselves and popped the sucker open right in front of him. 

“Luncheonomicon, sure. We’ve got a copy. Kind of expensive, though. Never even been rented out before, so the whole thing is basically like new.”

He reached under the desk he was sat at, pulling the tome in question out: A large, encyclopedia-like volume with bright, cheerful lettering spelling out the title, right across the top- Luncheonomicon, just like the boneman had asked for. Not quite what you’d expect from a demonic prison, but, hey, to each their own, right?

“Says here it’ll run you either... Twenty pieces of silver, a dead man’s golden tooth, a bit of your soul, or... About two hundred bucks. Got any of that?”

He taps the toe of his sneaker against the tile floor, more from boredom than impatience. The shop has been quiet today.

It was likely a testament to his state of mind that a walking, talking skeleton was no surprise to him, but that thought was a brief musing, replaced quickly by the tired but upbeat customer service voice he had learned to put on, even in his head, when interacting with people in the store.
