i rly rly want to get that book i saw last time about the history of the local chinatown. ive been on a tour there ages ago and i remember it had a pretty colourful history despite its short existence. so the plan is to read up on it + go on tour again. ive been passing that place pretty often omw to work recently so its been on my mind

stumbled onto a copy of the art of war in my work library and its been a peculiar read. you can tell why this book is still relevant 2000 yrs later with the way the principles described in it are still applicable because while the tools of war have changed but the war itself, as john fallout once said, never changes. it is also funny in a bit of a soul crushing way to read 'teacher sun considers the worst kind of war the war where you have to do sieges never fucking do sieges its the worst thing ever' and it makes me want to stare directly into a nonexistent camera. thank you, the absolutely not relevant to anything contemporary passage about sieges. very helpful
