It really says something that a lot of monogamous people consider polyamorous and aromantic to be "opposites" but every polyam person I know took one look at aromantics and said "they're just like me for real"
Poly folks x aro folks in the sense that "alloromantic heterosexual monogamous people view love and sex as an entirely different entity than me, and that makes life kinda strange"
official aro-polyam solidarity post
Being polyam, tbh I feel like it'd be pretty natural for a polycule to form queerplatonic relationships with aro peeps; we've got the right emotional bandwidth for it, and it's normal for not everybody in a polycule to be romantic with everybody else, so having a member be romantic with nobody while still being in the group isn't exactly a big leap.
Every day tumblr users get closer and closer to saying you can only be trans in a god honouring way.
Edit: my problem is with the comparison and trying to rate people's transness and who's more transgressive. If you attempt to turn this into a trans guys vs trans girls post you are missing the point.
This is what white supremacy looks like in the trans community. Genuinely.
These screenshots are literally just white supremacist, right wing talking points about conformity to the status quo being more "transgressive" than people who actually transgress social norms. It's quite literally no different than Christians, MAGA, the right wing, etc. thinking they're the ones who are actually oppressed despite engaging with ideas, values, and presentations that have actually been the ruling class status quo for centuries. It's all taken from the same self victimization playbook.
It's especially clear with the 4chan language mixed in that is just white supremacist incel shit, "gigastacy", "mog", "aura" — that's incel forum channer language that's infiltrated broader internet vernacular and it doesn't matter if the OOPs here are actually explicitly 4chan using white supremacists. They're still engaging with 4chan white supremacist language, behavior, and beliefs.
my friends keep trying to look in the mirror but i dont have mirrors in my car so i fixed it
i know i said i did not want to talk about the nolan odyssey but i do have one more nodyssey post in me. i actually think the idea of odysseus understanding his story as existing both in and out of a historic timeframe is a fun way to handle the liminality caused by the story being part of an extensive oral tradition. however having him say "our age of bronze is collapsing" is perhaps not the way i would have done that
i think genuinely one of the biggest political weak spots on the trans community in terms of actually pursuing liberation is people's aversion to meaningfully challenging the gender binary because it is personally gender affirming for them. so much reactionary bullshit in this community is intimately tied to exorsexism and transmedicalism/
and like. i also don't want to downplay why people would feel like that. you spend your entire life suffering because of being denied your gender. it impacts your identity and your relationships and your work and your everything. and then when there's finally a chance that you may actually be able to cross the great divide that separates the group you are forced to be to and the group you have always felt you belonged in, there is all of this talk about how we should dismantle the groups entirely, when you have barely - if at all - gotten a chance to even exist in a way that doesn't make you want to kill yourself, when the groups are still influencing everything about the world all the time.
but the thing is! we feel this way primarily because in our present culture, to be gendered as cis-binary is to be made human. it is to socially exist, to be seen, to be loved, to have existential, ontological meaning as a person. and nonbinary people do not get to pursue gender euphoria that also makes us human, you understand? nb/gq/gnc people do not have the option of pursuing being socially recognized as you truly feel you are and not wanting to kill yourself. some people can be happy on either side of the chasm and carve out space for themselves there, but too often only on the precarious edge. and the rest of us can only jump off or wait to be shoved off.
do you understand? we don't have the option. our insistence on fighting and deconstructing the binary is not an abstract political choice based on what we speculate would be the most #radical. it is as much a choice made out of trans survival as any binary trans man or woman's pursuit of a passing and stealth life. and plenty of us also do not want the concept of "man" or "woman" to be erased entirely; many of nb/gq/gnc people are men and women! sometimes both at the same time! others want to see new concepts to gain acceptance and social recognition!
but that is the problem with the community's exorsexism when it comes down to it. it is binary gender ideology which provides the foundation for patriarchal ideology and power as a whole, and so as feminists it is the binary we need to challenge (early radical feminists circled this realization, although they failed to develop it productively; intersectional feminism leads us to challenging the gender binary by challenging the related privileged oppressor/powerless oppressed binary). nb/gq/gnc people strain under a binary system and binary culture, and so tend to be more conscious of the binary and the need to challenge it, just like cis perisex women are more likely to be conscious of patriarchy than cis perisex men because they experience a lot more direct and obvious strain under it. all trans people are ultimately oppressed by gender binary ideology and exorsexism, and it goes against trans people's class interests to support it. but a lot of trans people who identify strongly with the binary have, for decades at this point, actively decided to sacrifice the pursuit of trans liberation and liberation from patriarchy as a whole, in favor of keeping the binary in place so they can experience being the ones who benefit from it and wield it against others. like lower-middle class people being fierce defenders of capitalism and taking great pride in self-sufficiency and financial sense and not relying on handouts.
#THIS#had a convo with some binary trans friends awhile ago about something similar#they were saying that if you met someone who isn’t obviously fem or masc and didn’t get to ask their pronouns#you should take your best guess at what they’re trying to present as and choose she/her or he/him#and if you’re corrected change of course#which is Such a binary way of thinking about it#and might be affirming for binary trans people sometimes#but ensures people who use they/them are literally never gendered correctly#and assumes that everyone is trying to perform their gender according to gender roles#trans femboys and butches aren’t going to get gendered correctly either that way#like. i understand#you would want other people to do that for you#but a Lot of people don’t want you to do that for them
& there is a real sick irony here right. binary trans men and women like your friends think its reasonable for everyone's habits regarding strangers' pronouns to follow what would help them the most, protect them from being misgendered. without seeming to register at all that nonbinary/genderqueer/gnc people get constantly misgendered by both cis and binary assumptions.
when one thinks "people should always try to guess if someone uses she/her or he/him if you can't ask, because that way a trans person whose trying to pass might be gendered correctly" implicit in that statement, to me, is the belief that we see reoccurring constantly, that it doesn't matter when nb/gq/gnc people get misgendered. it hurts us less, but more importantly it hurts other people less. its less uncomfortable to see us get misgendered. its more normal. there's all of this cultural background that makes us immediately understand why denying a man his manhood by calling him a woman is hurtful, why denying a woman her womanhood by calling her a men is hurtful. but nonbinarity is culturally seen as un-human, or ugly and monstrous. so when someone's nonbinarity/genderqueerness is denied there's no implicit sympathy, there's no understanding that this would be just as hurtful. because a lot of people see the problem with misgendering not as denying a person's gendered existence, but forcing a man to be a woman and a woman to be a man, forcing them to be at odds with the gender binary that defines our social personhood.
sorry to get all deep about it but like. this is what i mean about the community's exorsexism! there is an implicit understanding a lot of people have - and i say implicit because its often not out of active malice - that they simply do not need to care as much or feel as bad when a nonbinary/genderqueer/gnc person gets misgendered. we get toleration and non-hostility, not sympathy; sympathy, like humanity, belongs to the belonging to the binary.
a reminder!
As someone who has watched many trans Native brothers disappear from the community without even a word or report, I genuinely despise the white trans women who want to say that they're somehow oppressed by Native trans men and trans men of color. At least your death will be passed around in the wider community and you'll have people defending you. Meanwhile I'll never see the greatest people in my life again because the government will never acknowledge the disappearances of Indigenous folk. Because unless their fellow Native trans siblings and family say something, none of you give a shit. There is no privilege in being treated like you never existed to begin with.

up too late, got spider delusions and paranoia :/
everything socialist countries have been accused of, capitalist countries are actually doing.
"cis women" is a subcategory of "women" btw. i will no longer be arguing with cis people about whether they want to be called cis, just learn how the word works and move on. i'm sick of them acting like being called a cis woman is less gender affirming than being called a woman. if you have to be the Only Type of Woman, than your definition of womanhood depends on you performing (white) womanhood better than women who dont/cant/wont do it "properly" ie disabled women, women of color, queer women, intersex women, etc

Hey i’m a fashion design student so i have tons and tons of pdfs and docs with basic sewing techniques, pattern how-tos, and resources for fabric and trims. I’ve compiled it all into a shareable folder for anyone who wants to look into sewing and making their own clothing. I’ll be adding to this folder whenever i come across new resources

Updated just now with new hand sewing resources (mainly buttonholes) and textbook pdfs on fashion history, fashion illustration, and thinking through designs!
OP I owe you my life
OP you are the greatest person currently in my life. You beautiful, thoughtful creature.
How am I supposed to stop smoking when all these things keep happening???
Come to think of it, it really is insane that my entire country is burning alive and literally no one in the rest of the world cares. Thousands of Indians are dying every day from the heat, it's 45+ degrees in multiple areas, the government couldn't give two fucks, we're getting severe warnings and red alerts, and not a soul outside of South Asia is speaking about it because why would you ever care about brown people
please keep talking about how Becky from Maryland doesn't like the rising gas prices. It's clearly the more pressing issue.
USA folks, that is a consistent temperature range hitting 113°. Death Valley temperatures. In Banda, it hovered between 116°-118° (47°-48° C) for a week straight.
