This is a companion piece to a painting I did over four years ago now thats meant a lot to me as time has gone on. I’ve wanted to do an updated version of it since TEW2 released 2 years ago, and just recently felt comfortable enough in my skills to actually achieve what i wanted lmao.

Because the existence of billionaires is predicated on the exploitation of human labor and unsustainable environmental harm.  That level of wealth hoarding is harmful to economies, as it reduces the amount of money in circulation. No one person, no family, could ever conceivably even SPEND a billion dollars anyway, and  it is inherently immoral to accumulate wealth so narrowly while so much of the world lives in abject poverty.  

Better then to create a wealth ceiling, a point at which all wealth over a certain point  is taxed at or very near 100% to incentivize people to actually spend their money rather than hoard it, stimulating the economy and bettering the lives of far more people. Better even still to create and regulate economic systems that protect workers and the environment in a way that such extreme levels of wealth accumulation aren’t even feasible.

The problem with this is that it reduces the incentive to actually do fiscally well. What’s the point of starting a business if you can’t become wealthy?

So I imagine there are people like me out there who’ve never even heard of Marlon Brando and are extremely confused over why this is important.

Marlon Brando was the Don in The Godfather, and in 1973, he was nominated for and won an Academy Award for it. However, he was also a huge Natives rights activist, and boycotted the ceremony because he felt that Hollywood’s depictions of Native Americans in the media led to the Wounded Knee Incident (which I was always taught as “the second massacre at Wounded Knee” but apparently that’s not the real name). He sent Sacheen Littlefeather, an Apache Native rights activist, in his stead. Wikipedia’s article on her explains the rest:

Brando had written a 15-page speech for Littlefeather to give at the ceremony, but when the producer met her backstage he threatened to physically remove her or have her arrested if she spoke on stage for more than 60 seconds.[5] Her on-stage comments were therefore improvised. She then went backstage and read the entire speech to the press. In his autobiography My Word is My Bond, Roger Moore (who presented the award) claims he took the Oscar home with him and kept it in his possession until it was collected by an armed guard sent by the Academy.

im very grateful for the lessons in photography i was taught in stop motion class because just now they made it possible to photograph the stars with my phone in spite of the camera usually not detecting the light of stars because theyre so dim,,,, enjoy these shiny motherfuckers

ok so if everythings normal, your phone camera should have a manual mode (sometimes called pro mode). in it, change the settings of the shutter lag to 20 seconds, then put the phone down on some stable, plane surface and press the photo button (usually when using your camera, the volume buttons can be used as photo button) and let the phone still for the whole 20 seconds. 

(basically the problem with most cameras is that they dont have a very good light sensitivity in the dark, however that doesnt mean they cant detect it at all. the longer the shutter is open, the more light your camera takes in and the more burnt/light your pic will be, so in (literally) dark situations, make the shutter lag longer to get all that light you need! also i said 20 seconds but really you can make it shorter or longer depending on what kinda stuff you want for your stars)

Additionally, adjust your ISO to the highest number (mimics the film used for very low light and low speed images)

And set your shutter speed to the longest time possible (on my phone it’s 10 seconds).

Leave your focus settings on Auto, and if your phone camera has a timer option, turn that on (five seconds is generally enough).

Plan your shot first, then find a place to set your phone down so you can get the image you want. The less light pollution, the better; you’ll pick up FAR more stars in your picture.

Once you know what you want to shoot, tap your screen to “focus” it, then hit the button to take the picture, set your phone down, and back away from the “tripod”. Don’t touch your phone for a good 15 seconds, just to be sure.

You will not be disappointed in the results, let me assure you.

This is the direct link to the interview and report from the Observer mentioned there, it goes in dept to take as much info from many accounts to find what could possibly have happened, and in particular it digs deep into things consulting both toxicologists that know about what types of rape drugs existed back then with their symptoms and historians that know about how gay culture was in the US was during and before the 80′s. Long story short, basically he admits that Takei stopped his advances the moment he told him he didn’t want to and that during all these years he only thought he might’ve been drugged very very recently because of the rest of the sexual accusations made him cast a doubt about how he used to tell this story to friends, as a more casual meeting that happened rather than a rape case, the drug aspect of the story is very recent but is also something that toxicologists say would’ve been quite unlikely because of how fast the accuser himself says he recovered on the spot and even able to drive back home without the next day symptomps rape drugs of that era were known to give.

On the hand of historians they dissect about what things were expected behavior during a gay date back in early 80′s and since there was an age gap (accuser was 24), meaning a cultural gap too, there might’ve been a misreading on behaviors on each part, but the accuser does say Takei stopped his advances once he got told to even if he was too forward for him at first. Um, other people have pointed this out, but those are 150 dpi (dots per inch) sizes. Standard print resolution is 300 dpi. High-resolution giclee prints can go much denser (there are printers that do 1800 dpi and above). If you want to find the right number of pixels, multiply the desired dpi by the inches (so a 4″ x 6″ = 4*300 x 6*300 = 1200 x 1800 pixels).

There’s some other complications, since printing a digital image always has some translation issues, but those are the basics.
