When I see Dorian...
Well…He’s cute
Fuck…
I’m your daughter/son
I already have a daughter/son
I would rather be the corpse I was than the man I am.
The monster is not in my face, but in my soul.
Remember us better than we are.
I left my son to suffer without me. I’ll not do the same to my daughter.
Do you...
Blake half expected no one would answer. But when the door opened, his head snapped up to look at the man peering through the crack.
“Are you…Dr. Frankenstein?”
His voice was hoarse and quiet, almost inaudible through the pouring rain. The raven haired teenager pocketed the slip of paper in his hands and stood shivering.
Fingers curled tightly around the door handle, Victor watched the boy carefully, studying his reaction. “I am,” he replied, almost warily. “Do you require medical assistance?” Presumably, that was why he was here, surely? Even if the help was not for him. Still, it was better to ask, just in case.
Blake took a moment, wondering how he should phrase his words without sounding like some of daft idiot.
“I....my ailment isn’t physical.”
He said and shuddered again in the rain, finally looking up with desperate eyes, “Please...someone told me you could help me.” His voice carried that same sort of desperation now.
Blake looked up suddenly when he heard a voice speak to him. He hoped it wasn’t another thug but the words almost calmed the shaken teen. He got to his feet slowly, his hair a mess in his eyes and his mind racing.
“No..sir…what of that did you…see?”
Blake swallowed hard, praying the stranger hadn’t seen him just flip someone several meters in to the air.
He understood the question, and all the layers that it held within itself. Of course the boy didn’t want anyone to see what he was capable of, but alas he had seen it, and there was no going back. If he hadn’t survived the past few months, this incident would have shaken him to the core, opening his eyes to a world that he always suspected existed. But now, he simply stood there, wondering how many gifted people there were, on which side they were on.
“You don’t have to worry. I won’t tell anyone. Are you okay? Did they manage to hurt you?” Ethan inquired as he came a bit closer not wanting to spook the kid even more then he already was. “I’m Ethan, what’s your name?” He hoped that by introducing himself, it would ease the already tense situation.
Blake calmed down enough to stop shaking at least. When the man approached, he stiffened slightly but felt this Ethan meant him no harm.
“I’m Blake...an no...I’m not hurt.”
He said softly and finally caught his breathe, watching the man carefully. He was American, something rare in this London city but Blake could tell he was not of malicious intent.
Look at these cuties!!!!!

Blake pushed past the crowds on the London streets. The rain had been relentless all day and now pouring down on the raven haired teenager as he looked back to his pursuer. Two thug had followed Blake for a few blocks before he noticed, and now running full steam ahead trying to get away.
He panted hard and took a sharp left down an alleyway, unaware of the other people walking, trying to escape the rain. He tripped on the cobbles and falls back against the wall, his two pursuer yelling for him to turn out his pockets.
“I don’t have anything, leave me alone!”
Blake begged and pressed himself against the wall, eyes wide.
The thug went to grab his arm, but stopped short and only let out a yell as he was flipped up into the air back to the entrance of the alleyway. Blake sunk to his knees in the dirt, shaking and panting hard.
Pushing his hands deeper into the pockets of his long coat, Ethan made his way down the narrow intertwined streets of London with no purpose or destination. He walked outside hopeful that he’d be able to clear his head and banish the demons that erupted into every thought he tried to hold on for himself. Deciding that he’d get nowhere pacing back and forth in his little room, overlooking the feverish surface of the now dark blue water. The downpour was not something that surprised him, but he stayed on course if he had one, carefully trying to spot a place where he could pass a few hours doing absolutely nothing, maybe drinking, but definitely not focusing on the frenzy of nightmarish images that often flashed before his eyes when he least expected them to.
He wasn’t sure where they came from or what they meant, but they left a heavy sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach and all that he wanted to do was run. As he passed to the other side of the street, he heard voices, louder, and some kind of commotion not too far from him. Of course the thieves wouldn’t be stopped by rain, so they were trying to rob another poor soul. Ethan started walking over to them, to try to help the young boy out, from what he could see, but as he was about to say something and show his pistol, one of the men flew through the air and landed a few feet away from him. Ethan looked from him to the boy, and then to the other robber who flee after a second of deliberation.
“I guess you don’t need my help after all.”
Blake looked up suddenly when he heard a voice speak to him. He hoped it wasn’t another thug but the words almost calmed the shaken teen. He got to his feet slowly, his hair a mess in his eyes and his mind racing.
“No..sir...what of that did you...see?”

Blake approached the colored tent of the quite camp ground. Clutching the newspaper in one hand, he swallowing his nervousness and walked into the main tent.
“Hello?”
He called quietly, looking around at the empty seats and stage, hoping he hadn’t just trespassed onto the freak show grounds.
OOC: after tonight's episode I got a lot of inspiration to RP and I wanted to try to RP Dorian and apparently my friend thinks I RP a perfect Dorian Gray x)
spoilers for Penny Dreadful under the cut
Dorian Gray is such an odd character. He’s odd because, on a show that is pretty explicitly about how people lose their moral compass in the face of great tragedy, Dorian keeps true by simply not having one. He is thus far hands-down the most respectful, generous character on the show (although Vanessa is certainly also in that running, but Dorian doesn’t have a demon riding him around to complicate things.)
Vanessa wants to be godly but is ridden by evil; Victor wants to create but his creation brings only destruction; Malcolm wants to discover but instead finds things better locked away, etc. There is no fundamental dichotomy of character/fate for Dorian though. He’s just… himself. Dorian does what Dorian wants.
That’s especially interesting considering his role as a healer. I mean, he heals himself, but he also heals other people by bringing them into his hedonism and then giving them exactly what they were looking for. He’s got Crazy Eternal Life powers and he uses them for… what, exactly? In the book, he argues that beauty and sensual pleasures are the only things worth living for, and okay, sure, in the show, we’re also given that impression, but instead of exploiting other people to reach those goals, he invites them to join him in experiencing them. Dorian Gray’s I-Love-Everything-The-Most attitude actually makes people better.
I’m not really sure where the writers are going with this, though? Considering the whole idea of the portrait is it absorbs the sins of Dorian Gray the man and becomes horrible and twisted… so unless the writers are taking a really moralistic viewpoint and sin means, like, unmarried fornication or whatever, or Dorian is killing busloads of nuns on his day off or something, the portrait is probably looking just fine at this point. Dorian is kind of a weirdo, sure, but he’s a really nice weirdo. Brona is horrified that she’s ill: Dorian shows her she’s alive here, now, and doesn’t disgust him. Vanessa and her demon come looking for wickedness: Dorian lets her expend it all on the one person who both enjoys and can’t be hurt by it. Ethan is angry and alone and rejected and Dorian kisses him slowly and deliberately. Angelique is constantly treated as a toy and then rejected: Dorian says hey bae you can bring over a change of clothes to my place if you want and also by the way you’re worth a million of them and i’m going to make everyone see it.
In short, Dorian Gray is a fairy, and by that I mean he literally grants wishes.
OOC: How bout that episode guys? #1 pairing...Lily and Victor. #2 would be Dorian and Angelique but I’m worried for them a bit.

YOUNG MAN.
Blake ran quick under the awning of shops, trying to flee the pouring rain that was assaulting the city. His eyes were frantically searching for the address scribbled on a sheet of paper. He tried to keep it as dry as he could as he ducking under another roof. His less than perfect condition clothes were already soaked and his black hair was a mess in his eyes.
The young man finally came to the door he was seeking. He had heard stories of a man, Sir Malcolm Murray who dealt with strangeness but more so his partner…a woman named Vanessa Ives. Blake had gotten the address of their home from some man at the inn he was staying at. Now, he stood in the rain, knocking on the door, silently praying someone would answer.
When Sembene announced that there was a young man here to see her, Miss Ives was hardly surprised. She’d been having a feeling for a while that somebody new and potentially dangerous would be showing up. Not someone who would definitely be a threat to her, but someone who might need her help. And as she was never one to turn away someone in need, especially in the rain, she had Sembene show the young man into the parlour where she was waiting with a pot of tea.
❝ Come in, then, and take a seat. Would you care for some tea? You must be cold after all that rain outside. You were looking for me, yes? So you know who I am? ❞
When Blake is shown in he followed the man leading him to the parlour. The dripping boy was still out of breathe and shaky from the cold.
“Y-yes please. And tea would be lovely mam.”
He nodded politely and took his seat, very conscious of his wet state. He took the tea with shivering hands and took multiple sips, ignoring the scalding heat. The warm liquid felt good for his chilled bones. He looked up at the elegant woman sitting across from him, feeling slightly intimidated.
“Yes mam, I’ve heard of you, and believe you could help me? My name is Blake Riot.”

Blake had been walking for some time now, looking around the London shops, hoping to find a job posting somewhere. The raven haired teenager stopped to examine a sign on a cafe door, but no luck. He sighed and turned, looking at its patrons sitting on the outside patio. One was a lovely blonde girl. Blake smiled and slowly approached.
“Hello miss.”
He offered a gentle smile and nodded his head.

Blake ran quick under the awning of shops, trying to flee the pouring rain that was assaulting the city at this twilight hour. His eyes were frantically searching for the address scribbled on a sheet of paper. He tried to keep it as dry as he could as he ducking under another roof. His less than perfect condition clothes were already soaked and his black hair was a mess in his eyes, making it hard to see the home numbers.
The young man finally came to the door he was seeking. A man who heard about Blake’s…affliction had given him this address, because there lived someone who might help Blake. A doctor of sorts Blake assumed. The wet teenager knocked on the door, chewing his lip and silently praying someone would answer.
> Victor had been so preoccupied with his research, focused on studying anatomical diagrams and unfazed by the weather, rain was a common occurrence in England after all. The last thing he had expected was to be disturbed now. Still, he supposed he should know better by now. At the knock, the young doctor couldn’t help but flinch slightly. It was getting rather late, certainly outside of normal working hours at least, and he had not been expecting a visitor. Though, he supposed it could be Sembene, all things considering.
Sighing as he put his work away, he made sure nothing that could be deemed incriminating was in sight before sauntering over towards the door and opening it halfway. Looking over the younger, Victor raised his eyebrows, slightly surprised by the sight of the stranger. “Yes? Can I help you?” Presumably, it had to be a matter of some urgency for him to be here, unless the boy was simply seeking shelter from the weather?
