“...So I dropped to my knees here, right … I scooped dirt into my mouth … ate until I vomited. I gathered up the bloody earth … I realised you were too much for me. This is the problem, the incorporation, this is the hardest part … It’s the human instinct, to take. When you burn your thumb, you stick it in your mouth, right? And there was still too much of me that was just a human being.”
- John 1:20, Nona the Ninth
Comic I had the opportunity to do for @thelockedtombcfp and @theriverbeyond! Thank you <3
reading john’s narration in ntn is INSANE bc he’s talking about how he incited a nuclear war and began consuming the souls of planets just to say some shit like “you and i went full fucking hungry caterpillar” excuse me WHAT
filthy, filthy read
the thing is sometimes black sails plays its tropes and parallels to famous literary works completely straight and sometimes it subverts them and sometimes it does a secret third thing. so it's impossible to say what happened
like the case study for this i think is when it was playing a montage of flint beating silver in practice sword fights before they were going to fight for realsies and i was thinking okay. i know this trope. it's going to be a montage of him getting better but not quite winning and then he wins this real fight because of what he's learned. and then i started second-guessing myself like yeah but this show is savvy about its tropes. it might be trying to lead me to think that silver is going to win but actually flint does because Stories Aren't Real Life Stupid -- the blacksails writers. and i went back and forth on this torturously until the duel never happened because both of them got distracted because the walrus blowed up which of course i did not predict at all
like the thing is. if you don't see the body it's a fakeout death. black sails does this multiple times and it's infallible except when maybe it's not. billy wasn't dead madi wasn't dead so thomas hamilton isn't dead. except maybe they were doing it to create the false impression that thomas hamilton wasn't dead by creating a predictable formula and making you fill in the gaps yourself with what you think should be there. but maybe it's baiting you into expecting a subversion. maybe something else happened. what do you want to have happened. what do you think is a Good Story. what do you think is in line with the Themes and Characters. what do you think is More Realistic. no matter what you choose they got your ass
i guess what i mean is that the second you think anything happened you're weighing in based on what you think a story should have in it and you've already lost
the problem with that being of course that it Is in fact a story. consciously so
recently saw ppl discuss whether they put their medicines in a kitchen cabinet or a bathroom cabinet and i was shocked by the fact that many ppl said kitchen cabinet. so now i need you to reblog this and say where you keep yours
remake of my first ever gifset! (x)

THE VAMPIRE LESTAT | 3.03 "Toronto"
AMC's Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Lestat (2026), Season 3 Episode 2 | Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac & Eric Bogosian as Daniel Molloy
they're married they met and immediately started being messily divorced they are not on speaking terms but they do talk occasionally which is different they're coworkers they're bitter enemies they're co-conspiritors they're children having a nightmare they're the only two people who understand each other. they plot to kill god together and they seduce god together and they say the worst things anyone's ever said to each other and they don't even need to speak out loud to do it anymore. when they confront god together they pass a cigarette back and forth and trade personalities every couple of minutes and when they think he's dead they collapse into each other's arms. they do not forgive each other and they never ever will and still it's a shame that they didn't get to throw themselves into the sun together like they planned. i didn't say their names but they popped into your head didn't they.
God's merry band of misfits
Put in the tags the completely finished (whether cancelled or wrapped up on its own terms) TV series that has YOUR perfect ending, however you define that
Please don’t include huge spoilers for the specifics of the endings, and it would also make me happy if people don’t use this to talk about the shows whose endings they hated
rereading iol so my posting about to get insane again but it's truly crazy to me how much of the first year luke spends trying to get elliot to be his friend to which elliot goes "I know he secretely hates me, it's okay luke you don't have to pretend. this is for the truce" and luke goes. what the fuck is wrong with you.
The bit where Elliot is fishing around for a shirt to cover up the paint on his chest, halfway through In Other Lands, because Luke keeps staring at it, is such utter gold. Elliot thinks Luke is looking because he’s scandalised. This is not why Luke is looking
Rereading In Other Lands… again. A doodle for you 🤲
do you read in other lands. have you read in other lands. will you read in other lands. when will you read in other lands
always thinking about elliot being incapable of understanding how the rest of the world perceives luke as closed-off or stoic or shy, because to him, luke is clingy and sincere and kind of bitchy. like that’s not his default state he’s just obsessed with you
