So friends. I know that some of you are upset about the scene when Armand cuts an A into Louis' chest. And I know that Assad himself had no clue why Armand would do such a thing. Nevertheless I thought about it and here is my interpretation:

It's Armand's desperate attempt to leave a mark - by litterally leaving a mark on Louis. Louis told him that it has always been Lestat and never him. And how this reminded me of "And that's the end of it. There's nothing else." Nothing else to tell about his marriage of 77 years - as if it has never existed at all. Armand still there, but already abandoned. Mocked by Lestat who steadfastly refuses to admit what Armand once meant to him. His relationship with old Daniel only at the beginning and still very fragile - the bond still tending to break all too soon. And now Louis rejecting him once again with such plain words. So Armand feels constantly ignored. Meaningless. As if he were air only. When he wants a reaction he has to force it. And what does that mean for someone who thinks that he is nothing without others (Louis)? So he thinks, I make you feel and see that I have been a part of your life, that I have been there, that I had meaning. This is not about Louis, this is only about Armand.
