I saw that some of those who stormed the Capitol yesterday claim connection to the Norse gods based on their disgusting worldview (i.e. being literal Nazis). I would just like to reiterate that this blog (and obviously the person running it) does not endorse any such world view. The gods are welcoming and accepting, no matter who you are or where you’re from. It saddens me that these vile people are still claiming symbols such as Thor’s hammer or the world tree Yggdrasil. I hate that being a Norse pagan is associated with such a worldview. Therefore, I would like to clearly distance myself from it.

The only thing we can do is fighting the spread of Nazi ideology and not allowing them to claim pagan symbols and/or gods. In other words: this blog endorses punching Nazis/alt-righters. But please do so carefully and think of your own safety first.

So the last couple years I've made sets of blatantly gay Pride Norse designs (because fuck nazis and their appropriation of norse symbols) and this year I had you guys vote on which idea I drew first.

Y'all chose Odin's crows, Huginn and Muninn, and I finally finished a set!

(If there's a particular pride flag you wish to see with this design that I haven't made yet, always feel free to send me a request!) Like always, I’ve got the full-res designs hosted on my Ko-fi as free downloads for anyone who wishes to use them. Print them on a shirt, make yourself stickers, use on gifts for others- whatever.

I also have them available on Threadless for those who don’t want to or can’t print them on stuff themselves but still want something with the design on it. Each sale will also make an automatic donation to one or more of several related LGBT+ charities.

Here’s the thing, myths are complicated. They do not denote the true nature of the gods, but they were still important to the ancients. As far as I understand, they were the basis in understanding the gods, and were believed to a point, but weren’t necessarily seen as 100% fact. They were lessons, they were a way of worship.

Its a complicated matter, let’s not forget that.
