I hate to do this...

but I think it’s time to admit it’s become necessary.

As of this moment, all of my RP blogs save for Al are officially on Hiatus.

The muses are still here, I can still feel them, I just…can’t hear them as well as I used to, even the newest ones. Hell, in all honesty, I can barely hear Al some days.

I’ll still be around in the general sense, I just…I need some time to try to get everything back together. Things just haven’t been the same since I got sick last month- or for a while, now, in the cases of some muses.

I apologize if we had threads that were going and you’ve been waiting on me. I’ll try to get to them when I can, but unless/until I say otherwise, any replies you see from one of my blogs that you see this on will be something spit out of their queue.

I’m really sorry to do this, guys. I wouldn’t be doing this if I thought I could stir them up again- believe me, I’ve tried. Hopefully this will pass soon and we can get back to business as usual.

The, by all appearances, elderly man sat on the side of the road, just at the edge of a street lamp’s early morning glow. Against his shoulder was rested a gnarled, wooden, staff with a raven perched atop it. On the opposite shoulder sat another, facing the opposite way as it’s companion. The man’s white beard flowed from beneath the hood of his cloak, his single, hazel, eye peering up at the young man at his words. A tired smile creased his eyes at the question.

"Water would be a welcome blessing, Lad. I’m afraid this old wanderer’s walked a bit more than he’s used to these days and forgot to fill his skin last chance he had." came the answer from the disguised god, his voice a bit cracked from his dry throat as he reached a hand to pat at the goat skin pouch that hung from his waist.

Upon meeting the elderly man, the writer couldn’t help but get in a good look of his features. Descriptions were EVERYTHING to him, even in the physical form. He liked to know how to describe someone, along with someone else’s description. After all, it was ways to not only get inspiration for more of his stories, but to be able to remember people, even if they never got the chance to meet again.

When the elder man told him that he was indeed in need of water, Peter nodded, a quick smile on his face.

"Sure thing! Hydration is very important. And as for walking a bit more than what you’re used to, that’s ok. No matter what we do or how old we get, walking can still be something to do. Places to see, people to meet, and a chance to experience something new! Even with me having a prosthetic leg, I still love to get out there and go," he admitted, tapping at said prosthetic once before rummaging through his own duffle bag and giving the old wanderer a bottle of cold water.

"Here you go, sir!"

A smile curled his lips beneath his beard, as the younger nodded. He nodded in return as he continued, approval shining in his expression. When the bottle was offered, he took it with a grateful nod. The lid was twisted off and he brought the bottle to his lips, taking a long pull with a relieved sigh.

"Thank you, Lad, very kind of you. That's quite a wise way of thinking. There is always something new to be discovered, even for one as old as myself. Forgive me, I've not introduced myself. Call me Bragi, if you like."

He laughed once more, pleased at lack of spluttering and embarrassment. Now this was someone who knew how to keep his composure. He liked this one.

"Aye, you are indeed, Lad. She’s one of the Mjolnir, and they don’t choose their partners lightly. They only pair with those they find worthy." He paused a moment to down the last of his ale and waved a hand to call for another, which was promptly brought to him along with another for Stein, as well. "I have to agree, she chose her bearer- her partner- well."

He simply nodded in response to that, understanding her namesake all too well thanks to a certain dragon friend. And really, the more he thought about it, the more he felt like he truly was lucky with having met with Marie. He would never think her lucky to have found him, but always the other way around. He just…didn’t know how else to word that.

Though hearing the all father say that about him, all Stein could do was just give a small bow of his head in appreciation.

"I appreciate the compliment. I really do considering how my self image is…in need of work," he admitted, readjusting his glasses.

"Though really, the hardest battle one can face—in my opinion—is the one with yourself," he said.

He tried though. Truly, he did.

Should he say as much, the old god would tell him that to think himself lucky but not her was a good thing in his mind. To think someone else lucky to have found you was the way to the wrong sort of pride, and Odin, himself, had learned some harsh lessons on that vein in his long life.

"Aye, I can see that about you. You've had a hard time of it so far. Old Odin's sorry for those hardships, but I get the impression you'd not trade the lessons they've taught you, would you, now?" he questioned. A test, perhaps? Who could tell with gods? "That's very wise, Lad. Very wise, indeed; more so than most mortals can claim to be."

"Oh, I think I might surprise you. I wasn’t always an old man, you know." he said, a current of amusement colouring his tone as he followed the younger. A single hand lifted to the raven perched on his shoulder, being gifted with a faint nip at his gnarled fingers before it returned it’s gaze rearward, enjoying the attention to it’s feathers.

"Aye, I can see how you would, indeed. Though the rush of battle can make it worth it, I think." he commented. At the question he let loose a bark of laughter, shaking his head. "They’re not trained at all, Lad. They do as they please. No, these two are old friends of mine. They’ve been my friends for many a year."

"Spoken like a true sage, old man." He snickered, trudging his way up a slight hill. "I like fighting as much as the next asshole, but I’m tired of half the people I meet trying to take my head for money. But I’ll keep killing them, long as they keep coming." He shrugged, looking back at the birds; an eyebrow raising ever so slightly. "They sure look trained to me but, hey, I understand. Most animals are better than most people. They’ll never lie to you, that’s for damn sure." A sigh escaped him as he continued toward the cave, now coming into view. "Hope you like water with your meat. That’s what I’ve got."

"I wouldn't be so arrogant as to call myself a 'sage'. As I said, I'm just a wanderer by my nature." he said with a faint laugh, a faint wheeze added to his breath as they went up the small hill. "Aye, I can see that. Bit of a trouble maker, are you? I was known to be such now and again in my day."

His smile grew at the comment on animals never lying, one corner of his mouth twisting upward. "They prefer to stay at my side, true, but that's their own whim. They're free to come and go as they please, and they often do, but they have a way of always finding me, again."

He chuckled faintly, the hand that had been stroking the raven's feathers moving to a skin draped over one shoulder and around his neck. "I've a skin of my favorite ale I keep with me. You're welcome to share if you like, for the kindness of sharing with this old fellow."

Not the typical beggar (Open Starter)

A chuckle rumbled through the elder as he lifted the hand that held the staff to give the door a shove.

"Just a bit of a detour, Lad. Don’t you worry." he said cryptically as he gave Spirit’s shoulder a tug, pulling him through the door after him. The smell of pipe smoke, mead, and smoked meats permeated the air inside. A very old sort of music played, it’s source unable to be located at the moment.

The old god drew in a deep breath, drawing up his posture as the door swung shut behind them. “Who am I, you ask?” he began, his eyes twinkling with merriment.

It was then that the man behind the bar caught notice of them, slapping the tankard he’d been drying down onto the bar top. “Well, look who it is! It’s been an age since you’ve been here! Hey, Lads! The All Father’s come callin’!”

The bearded man gave a booming laugh, shaking his head and giving him a joking glare. “You’ve gone and ruined the surprise, Colborn!” he protested, but didn’t seem upset in the slightest as the pair of them both laughed.

"Come on, then, Lad. Have a seat." he said, clapping Spirit on the shoulder before releasing him and moving to perch his form on a well worn wooden stool.

◤❤◢ Lad was nice, it made him feel younger. “Detour? But I.. know this city. I know every turn. Each brick and cobblestone. I..” All of this seemed oddly familiar though, didn’t it happen before? Or was that just a dream.

As the door gave way and he was led inside it was as though he were transported through time. Another life. This was absolutely not Chupa Cabra’s. And most definitely not a typical bar in this day and age. 

Before the older gentleman could answer a voice from behind the bar shouted, startling him. His brows drew together, wary. But it was just a simple greeting. Though loud. Spirit relaxed, well, as much as he could in somewhere so new and different. Even the air was odd, not unwelcoming with the scent of meat and some sort of alcohol Spirit was sure...just not of the type. 

"All Father?" He blinked at the name drop and then was led towards a set of ancient stools, though sturdy enough. He sat down, clearing his throat while adjusting his collar. "Ah! Well, Mister All Father.. it’s umm..where did you say we were again?" Anxiously he glanced about him. All Father? That name vaguely rang a bell. The same bell he used to hear back in grade school when instead of paying attention in class he was trying to get Suzie Cartwright’s phone number. 

Yes, in grade school.

Sneaking out his wallet he appeared a bit concerned. “Ah does this place take Death Bucks? I mean I also have a Mastercard but umm..” He glanced about the pair once more. Didn’t seem like the credit card type of place. Worried now, he still wanted to buy his new older friend a meal. It was what he intended to do in the first place.

He chuckled at the redhead's confusion, shaking his head and lifting a hand to lower Spirit's by way of telling him to put his wallet away. Colborn laughed in reaction to his questioning, shaking his head and causing his shaggy beard to sway.

"No guest of the All Father's pays here, boy. Sit you down an' I'll bring the drink!" he instructed, moving into a room behind the bar. A few minutes later he emerged with two tankards and two plates, setting one of each in front of both Spirit and the elder male before moving to attend to someone at the other end.

The plates were loaded with various types of smoked meats...smoked fish, pork, and even a meat perhaps unfamiliar to Spirit's nose- goat. The tankards were filled with a particularly full-bodied ale. The one eyed elder laughed once again, giving a nod of thanks in reply to the tankard and plate before looking to Spirit once again.

"Hah! Don't start with that 'Mister', Lad. Just 'Odin' is fine." he said, giving a wink to the younger before lifting his tankard to his lips, draining a fair portion of it in one pull before settling it back to the bar top. He kept his eye on the younger, waiting to see what reaction, if any, was had to his name.

He gave a huff of laughter at that, though it wasn’t in the slightest mocking in tone. “It certainly sounds like you are, indeed.”

Accustomed to avoiding questions, apparently, to answer a question without truly answering it. Intriguing. “A fire and good food would be welcomed, aye. It’s been a while since I’ve had much in the way of company.” he answered as he lifted a hand from his staff and giving a faint whistle, prompting the ravens to drop from the trees. They circled as they drew lower before one perched atop his staff, the other on his shoulder.

Riddick turned to face the old man, sighing, though in truth he was somewhat amused.”Old man, you got no idea.” He chuckled, turning back and continuing to lead the way to his cave. “That makes two of us. Never been one for actually entertaining company, though. Enough people try to kill you, you start to not care for having them around.” His lips turned up in a smirk at the sound of the whistle, his bestial senses picking up the sound of the birds obeying the noise. “That’s a nice trick ya got there. How long did it take to train ‘em?”

"Take pleasure in all areas of your life. not just what’s ‘socially acceptable’." he said with a snort, rolling his eyes. Another bark of laughter rippled through the hall as someone let out a particularly healthy belch after downing a large tankard in one go, provoking another burst of laughter from the god.

"Aye, and you may have been. It happens now and again, but always for a reason." He paused for a moment, looking him over briefly, before his face split in a wide grin and he leaned toward the younger, a twinkle in his eye. "You’d not have met a particularly lovely Hammer if you’d not been born when you were, I suspect." he teased, waiting until Stein had just lifted his mug to take another drink to say so.

Enjoy what he could, huh? It was hard to do so since Stein often had trouble finding out what he enjoyed, but he gave a nod of understanding to the god’s words. Still, he was slowly finding out what it was that he enjoyed, mulling it over as he drank more of his ale.

Though when Odin had mentioned Marie, there was no embarrassed look from the doctor but instead a fond smile came over him as he couldn’t help but chuckle softly.

"I feel very lucky in that regard…despite what’s happened to me, she’s one of the few good things in my life," he admitted.

"Aye, they’re quite a sight, indeed. There’s no others like them." he agreed, nodding once. He gave a rumbling laugh at the Scythe’s scrambled self-correction, shaking his head.

"Don’t you worry, Lad. Old Bragi is well familiar with the ways of the world. The life of a wanderer is never a dull one, that’s for true, but there’s nothing that says you can’t have ties to folk. Our ties are part of what make us who we are, after all." he said.

Spirit’s waving did nothing to clear the fog. In fact, it thickened the more he waved at it. One corner of the god’s mouth twisted a bit in amusement, hidden by his beard. After a moment the fog began to clear just enough to give them the faint outline of a door with a light hanging above it.

His stomach churned a bit, anxious. The fog did nothing to calm his nerves but for some reason when the man spoke, Spirit eased up a little. So confused. Frowning a bit now he kept his eyes sharp trying to peer through the fog, felt his own muscles tense. Ready for something to come charging out from the misty alley. 

But nothing came and he blinked, the doorway was right in front of him. “I thought...” He shook his head a little. Spirit Alroy Albarn knew these alleyways like the back of his hand as he patrolled them nightly. How odd. “Copperline isn’t here it’s...” 

This entire scenario seemed so familiar. Wasn’t he here once before? Or somewhere similar? 

Pausing right at the door he turned to the old man, head tilted. “Who are you?” The question sounded silly, especially after having just asked him previously. Spirit had gotten his answer, didn’t he? Just an old beggar, A wanderer. But his gut instinct told him that wasn’t the entire truth.

"They also keep you from running afoul of someone you might regret." he cautioned, but kept his tone neutral so it didn’t sound a threat. He arched an eyebrow as the animal was hoisted. Impressive strength. The name didn’t ring any metaphorical bells, so he simply nodded in acknowledgement. "A person might ask the same question of you, being so far afield on your own."

"I’ve been running into shitty situation with shitty people since the day I was born. Ain’t got time for manners or being civilized." He huffed, nodding off in the direction of his cave. "I’m a survivor. Got no actual home, but I’m holdin’ up nearby." He answered, although the question had not actually been asked. But there was no recognition in the old mans eye features, so there was no need to get nasty or dismiss him. "You’re welcome to join me for dinner, if you wanna step the Hell outta the cold. It’s gonna be dark soon."

The god’s grin grew broader as Stein got a taste of the Ale, a light bark of laughter erupting from him. “Drink, Lad. There’s plenty more where that came from.” he assured him. A flat out belly laugh was given at Stein’s blush as one large hand clapped him on the back.

"Whoever told you that is full of dragon dung. Why d’you think the old Berserkers got their reputation? They lived for battle! Didn’t ya, Lads!?” he countered, turning to face the Hall’s occupants. A boisterous cheer went up from the warriors, mugs and weapons raised high in the air.

"There’s no shame in enjoying what you’re good at, son. It’s in battle that we find the measure of ourselves. Aye, off the field is important, too, but battle…that’s where a person truly finds what they’re capable of.”

Well…if there was to be more then it wouldn’t hurt to drink a bit more, right? He was still wary as he watched how he acted around the All Father. Then again, he was always subconscious of his own actions. Almost terrifyingly so. Though he tried not to, instead focusing on the ale as well as the conversation between him and Odin.

Despite himself, when he heard the hall itself call out in joy about having gained the name of berserker, he couldn’t help but smile slightly at this, soon readjusting his glasses.

"This is true, I will admit. Forgive me, I am just too used to having been called many things because of that love for battle. One of my own friends often teases that I was born in the wrong time," he admitted, chuckling a bit.

"That's a good lad." he chuckled as Stein allowed himself to drink more, nodding his approval once again.

A faint smile curled the old wanderer’s lips as he adjusted his posture. Perceptive, this one. However, he decided to keep the act up a bit longer, just to see.

"Awful poor manners to draw steel on someone you’ve not even met." he huffed, grasping the staff with both hands once he’d ‘steadied’ himself. "Poorer still to demand another’s name b’fore giving your own. Call me Bragi if you like. I’m a wanderer by nature, I go where my feet take me."

The pair of birds perched overhead of the pair, watching the interaction carefully.

Riddick allowed a smirk to twitch across his features ever so briefly. He was dedicated, he had to give him that. “Manners make you civilized, old man.” He said, walking over to the large buck carcass laying on the ground. “Being civilized makes you weak.” He finalized the statement by hoisting the large animal over his shoulders with no visible effort. He smiled as he was given the old man’s name, eyes glancing up to the nearby birds. It would seem that he’d been correct about the trained animals. No reason, then, that he should stop being suspicious. “Richard B. Riddick.” No need to add ‘liar’ to his seemingly growing list of offenses. Besides, using his real name always yielded the reaction he needed to tell if someone knew him or not; which usually told him whether or not they intended to kill him.

"They also keep you from running afoul of someone you might regret." he cautioned, but kept his tone neutral so it didn't sound a threat. He arched an eyebrow as the animal was hoisted. Impressive strength. The name didn't ring any metaphorical bells, so he simply nodded in acknowledgement. "A person might ask the same question of you, being so far afield on your own."

The old god had decided to travel to the mortal realm for one of his many strolls through the wilds that day. As always, he was accompanied by his constant companions, the birds flying along above him for a while as he walked. Spotting someone ahead, one of the pair called down to him.

A nod was given in response and he pulled his hood up over his head, clutching the wood of his staff a bit tighter than was genuinely necessary as his oft-assumed guise of a wearied traveler was taken. Another call was given as the person hid and drew a knife, putting his staff before him just as the arm whipped out, causing the blade to bite into the wood.

The god made a show of stumbling in surprise, his grip shifting lower as he backed away from the other male. “What in all the worlds?!” he exclaimed, purposefully lending a frail and frantic tone to his voice.

The hunted man made note of the cry of birds. Oddly timed, he thought to himself. Suspicious even. But his suspicions were confirmed as soon as his knife hit, of all things, wood. Again, oddly timed. Eyes narrowed from behind tinted goggles as he looked to the sky. He had taught animals similar tricks before, to cry out when they spotted prey or when danger was near. Specific cries. Perhaps this man had done so with birds. He growled, almost unheard, as he looked down to the man. He could recognize someone hamming it up. It happened just about every time an assassin had been caught trying to kill him. He didn’t trust anyone, especially not old men, and especially not out here. “You’re fine, old man. I didn’t even get you.” He sighed, sheathing his knife next to its twin on his back. “What’s your name, old timer, and what the Hell are you doing out here in the middle of nowhere?” It was about as close as he was going to get to an apology for a little while, until he managed to prove that he meant no harm. After all, the circumstances of their meeting was quite suspicious.

A faint smile curled the old wanderer's lips as he adjusted his posture. Perceptive, this one. However, he decided to keep the act up a bit longer, just to see.

"Awful poor manners to draw steel on someone you've not even met." he huffed, grasping the staff with both hands once he'd 'steadied' himself. "Poorer still to demand another's name b'fore giving your own. Call me Bragi if you like. I'm a wanderer by nature, I go where my feet take me."

The pair of birds perched overhead of the pair, watching the interaction carefully.

Not the typical beggar (Open Starter)

He gave a rough bark of a laugh, shaking his head. “Definitely not. They’re old friends of mine, and they’ve been with me through many a trial and trouble.” he said, his smile still curling his lips.

"Don’t mind them. Huginn wouldn’t hurt e’en a wee babe. His brother, Muninn, may sting a bit, but he doesn’t mean any harm. He just likes to be paid a bit of attention now and again." he continued, glancing up at the bird on his staff before bringing a gnarled hand to the one at his shoulder, who nipped at his finger briefly before returning his gaze to  the rear and simply enjoying the fingers smoothing over his feathers.

A heavy hand came to rest on Spirit’s shoulder as he began to wander, the elder male following after him. “An interesting name you’ve there, lad. Aye, just passing through. Old Bragi’s a wanderer by nature. I never stay in one place for long- go where my feet take me.”

As they walked, a fog began to seep in, obscuring the ground at their feet, though the elder paid it no heed. The more they walked the thicker, and higher, the fog grew.

He was rather conflicted at this point, gut instinct was telling him this man was something special, different. But non threatening. However his brain had alarms going off all over the place. Medusa kept coming up, in that nurses uniform. Mm that was..

FOCUS.

She managed to trick them all, why couldn’t this man?

"They’re quite beautiful." And no fur so that was a nice bonus. He startled a bit at the touch but it felt.. oddly fatherly. Something he had never in his life experienced save for Lord Death. It was nice. Still.. there was something about him..

"Thank you!" He preened. "I like it myself and it’s an interesting start to the conversations I have at Chup..Church." He corrected himself, clearing his throat. For some reason he didn’t want this man to know his ..habits. Would he be disappointed? And why did Deathscythe even care what he thought?!

"A nomad! I’ve often wondered about that kind of life. What kind of fascinating places you’ve been too. I’ve daydreamed about having that kind of life. No ties to anyone...just moving." He beamed. "Of course I’m sure I’m romanticizing it umm.." 

At first he hardly noticed the fog as the pair chatted but it was becoming more and more noticeable. Brows furrowed he tensed up, waving a hand in front of him to clear the near thigh length fog. The hell? “Place should be right uhh..around here..” He grunted. Concerned now.

"Aye, they're quite a sight, indeed. There's no others like them." he agreed, nodding once. He gave a rumbling laugh at the Scythe's scrambled self-correction, shaking his head.

"Don't you worry, Lad. Old Bragi is well familiar with the ways of the world. The life of a wanderer is never a dull one, that's for true, but there's nothing that says you can't have ties to folk. Our ties are part of what make us who we are, after all." he said.

Spirit's waving did nothing to clear the fog. In fact, it thickened the more he waved at it. One corner of the god's mouth twisted a bit in amusement, hidden by his beard. After a moment the fog began to clear just enough to give them the faint outline of a door with a light hanging above it.
