Logan patiently waits for her as she thinks, because it truly didn’t mind to him the frequency and when they did it. He was a guest here, he didn’t have a schedule or a job he needed to abide by. Anytime and any day worked for him. So, he would let Balo pick a time and day that was suitable for her. “Yeah, I think weekly works too,” he said. If he remembered correctly, the movies were dense and info packed. He wasn’t sure he’d remember all the details if he waited too long. The male didn’t have the best memory when it came to movies. “All days are good. I don’t have a schedule. Up to you. Mid week or weekend?” he asks her for he preference. He didn’t admit it to himself, but the male was looking forward to it. He didn’t care that he wasn’t a fan of the movies. He was spending more time with Balo, and for him, that’s all that mattered.
“I imagine by January and February, the temperatures will drop even more,” he says and looks down at her. “We’ll see,” he tells her, letting out a small smile. He wasn’t going to let her pay for him, but he wasn’t going to argue with her today about it. He’ll do it when the time came. He hadn’t had the chance to take out Balo too much, so whenever he did, he always wanted to be the one who paid. He quietly listens to her as she talks about her art and her father. They’ve both told each other about the abuse they’ve suffered at the hands of their parents. Her father didn’t approve of her art, and his own parents didn’t approve of the fact that he quit piano and played basketball instead. He slowly reaches down and wraps his arm around her shoulders and leans down to press a kiss to the top of her head. “I want to see it. I always want to see it,” he softly tells her, re-emphasizing his interest in checking out her art. When it came to the topic of abuse, Logan was more of a listener than a speaker. He was always beyond relieved that Balo was here, away from her father. He was relieved she was safe. “I’m sure I’ll love what you decide to show me. I’m looking forward to it,” he says in support. He re-focuses his attention on the place they found for Luke. He looks around as he quietly examines it with Balo. “I think it’s safe, too.”
Balo nods when he agrees that weekly would work, her lips pressing together when it falls on her to decide the day. “We could do Thursday nights, maybe we could aim for 7 the first week and adjust the time from there until we find a good spot.” The words almost feel like scheduling a date, perhaps it was the time - perhaps it was the man, but she could feel the familiar twinge in her chest as she remembers that this was Logan. Dates, romance, and kisses were things she’d never get from him, he was her best friend, and she knew he didn’t see her that way.
So it was always a matter of pushing the feeling down, trying to bury it until the next time it showed up, and try her best to pretend she didn’t want more. Otherwise, things would become awkward, and he’d walk out of her life. “It’d keep your Friday night free in case you want to go out but it’s on the tail-end of the week so the start of week blues don’t have a chance of messing things up. What do you think?”
“They probably will, but we’ll stay warm - bundle up more, drink hot cocoa by the fire. We’ll get through it, and then spring will come again.” Maybe she loved winter, but she knew that it was undoubtedly harder on Logan than it was for herself. The cold did things to muscles, and with his knee already giving him trouble - looking on the bright side, making the best of the season with the reminder spring would come eventually, sounded like a good idea to her at least. Her expression lights up when he says they’d see about letting her pay, nodding quietly as she tries not to show just how excited the thought made her - not that she’s very successful - it wasn’t like Balo had a good poker face, in fact - there were probably dogs wagging their tails and jumping around hiding their expressions more than the blonde ever could. It was the thought that counted, she supposed.
Aurora’s shoulders tense tighter momentarily as he wraps her arms around them, her whole body starts to relax as she takes a deep breath and his lips press against the top of her head. The action was a reassurance she was safe in good hands before he could say a word, and there’s a smile starting to form again as he assures he that he always wanted to see it. “Maybe I can show you some stuff after we get back inside, if you’re feeling up to it.” She suggests, watching his expression for a moment before she glances back to the kitten she’s holding. If they found a safe place, she’d have to say goodbye for the moment. She’d have to let him go. There’s a frown on her lips as she starts to kiss the feline again, trying to shower the small creature in love. “We can visit as much as we want to, right?” She double checks with Logan, still making no move to let Luke go.
The thought seemed easier before she had to actually do it.
