Non-Europeans will never understand the pain of us having no Eurovision to bond over tonight.
First world problems / white people problems
You do know that there are many, many non-whites in Europe right? And looking forward seemingly superficial/dumb shit to lighten up in any situation no matter how bad is a normal, human thing to do. Plus Eurovision was literally created in a way to unite european countries after WWII, I wouldn’t say that it doesn’t fit a global pandemic.
Still people should be upset over things that are more important . As COVID 19 , but I’m seeing people talking bout Eurovision . Wich does bug me as I have family members that are risking their lives , by taking care off people that have COVID , but people choose to cry over Eurovision .
I understand what you’re getting at, but being upset over important things and looking forward superficial stuff aren’t mutually exclusive. Quite the opposite, we all cope how we can. I too have several family members that are doctors and work against the storm. I lost my main income, i know many who are in conflict with their landlords and I try to help them how I can with what little law I’ve studied. I’m still processing how many people died and are dying.
I’m not saying all this to be melodramatic or to be undeservingly pitied, but like. Enjoying superficial stuff that takes our minds off all the awfulness isn’t an insult to those who have it worse, and getting on people’s back for not speaking about covid for five minutes feels aggressive. I know that for my own mental health I need to think about lighter stuff once in a while. Do you really want to blame people for that?
And maybe that’s just me but I think "upset" is a pretty strong word for how we feel about Eurovision. For most of us it’s more of a ugh feeling, I doubt many people are actually crying about it— that would indeed be exaggerating.
Well when you make it up to trending topping it seemed you give that some importance , I haven’t seen COVID 19 in the trending when Eurovision was . I get that for you guys it’s a tradition , but it will happen next year , or after the quarantine ends .
But the live that were lost are not coming back , and so the problem is that people are giving more attention to Eurovision than to people that are literally dying because there is not enough help for everybody . That is what makes me think .
Causa want it or not Eurovision is still going to happen , but all the lifes that were cut short by COVID , they are not coming back . So yes I think people should talk more about other side effects of COVID .
As poor people that don’t have access to treatment because of broken health system or kids that don’t have access to a computer and internet leaving them behind on their studies . I don’t see those stories get to trending topics . And that is what makes me really think about it . People really do value Eurovision more than other people .
God I’m so happy I’m not the only one who think people are making Eurovision a biggest deal than it actually is . It’s going to happen , after the quarantine .
