Mal, be honest, did you buy a silly number of Dr. Habit plushes to celebrate pride month?
Nahhhhh, he's not my blorbo hahaha
The person working the ceramics shop had a mullet and budding facial hair and I was like
"Not to be presumptuous, but would you like a brick?"
"oh my god, thanks! HAPPY PRIDE MONTH!"
"HAPPY PRIDE MONTH!" 🌈🌈🌈
... Now I gotta make like 200 of these to hand out at Prides.
A beautiful day for a beautiful Stray. Happy pride month!
I started my art journey on Tumblr with an Eyeball headed character who was a canonically Large Man. That was the anathema to myself, and helped me after having to get rid of my earlier online persona. My eyeball head Mal literally became me... I changed my name to Mal legally after transitioning. And I am happier than ever despite everything getting here.
I figured the white would stand out, and it did. It really makes me feel comfy and happy that I can pop the teensiest hearts into the bodies of these lil angels and have them show up.
Cherry blossom Stray!
I love how the white underglaze on the scelera has a completely different opacity to the porcelain
So I got some porcelain pieces back from the kiln the other day and OH WOW are they gorgeous!!
This Stray is based off of blue and white designs on porcelain, and I painted them with some nail art brushes I bought.
I've been doing daily posts on Instagram, and didn't think to do em here. I'll space the posts out so there's something to look forward to
GET OUTTA HEREEEEEE 😍😍

Got called in last night to volunteer at the Ren Fair being hosted at the Meadery my buds work at.
My favorite question has been" there's a Ren Fair?" Nah, dawg, I just dressed like this and stand on street corners for fun.
Had no updates lately due to APs, exam proctoring, seniors leaving, quarterly reports for nearly 30 kids coming up, grades, senior pranks vandalizing my car and that not being cleaned up, kiln explosions, wrapping up clean up and translations to sculpture from ceramics, my own vague attempts at living a life and relearning how to throw-
Calling this one done for now haha
Overseeing my on-the-go breakfast sandwich this morning
OOOOOOH
So the Laguna Frost porcelain has had a LOT of failures, primarily because it dries so dang fast. I bought some Darvan a while ago, and used it to mix the failures into casting slip!
Wild to see how tiny it got with all the shrinkage, and it'll be smaller still after the glaze firing! Hopefully the gorgeous look of the clay body makes up for how hard it is to smooth on the seam lines, because it is a BEAST
Left is the original the mold was made from, center is the low fire clay, and right is the frost
I made a little #cloakpin ! Carved deer bone, found wood, and the claw bone from a fox. I love bone carving! #vultureculture #vulturecouture
God, I wish these were more legible before firing.
Ended up spending time last Saturday making a blue mason stain porcelain and attempting a plaid pattern via caning/nerikomi. It worked well! This little trinket dish enchanted me a TON, and I'm working on a few more. It gave me the vision for a trans plaid pattern, and at the top is my first into the layout with the scraps. It's hard to see before firing, but I'm optimistic!
I'm not trying to get big for my britches here, but I really think the clear glaze on top and further vitrification at cone 5 or so will make the porcelain pop even more 🤞🤞🤞
BOOP! More tests from today!!
