hey, it's me, Nami. the navigator & cartographer of the ‘Straw Hats’.

you're probably wondering why I'm here- I honestly don't know either. I just happened to be snooping through Usopp's stuff (as one does) and found this weird site called “Tumblr.”

so… here i am. feel free to ask me anything, but don’t waste my time with dumb stuff. i’ve got maps to study, treasure to find, and a certain.. pirate to keep in line. seriously.

Opla has done a few things with Nami's character that I really love and one of them is that we are seeing her mention from time to time she's actively charting the islands they're visiting. Oda barely touches on this in the manga, Nami and Sanji's dreams in particular are very rarely referenced anymore and it pisses me off, so it makes me happy to hear her here at least.

This version of Nami is also a little bit more adventurous than in the manga, which is actually a good idea because it creates a more obvious difference between her and Usopp's journey. She gets scared like him too like you can see in this same episode later on, but she is more seasoned than Usopp because of the life she was living before Luffy. I like it a lot.

nami is the cleaner’s cartographer (and navigator)!!

(op x gachiakuta au pt.2)!! more notes for her jinki and backstory under the cut!!

nami’s jinki is her compass!! she got it as a gift from bellemere (who saw he interests in exploring the world and despite it’s limited use in their current world of trash she still wanted to give it to her bc it felts important to nami) and it basically has 2 functions: first one the base of the compass explands kto form the layout of the terrain within a certain distance, allowing signals of living people within the area too (don’t get to know WHO just that there is someone), and two the compass needles grow bigger and have rope attached to sort of use as grappling hooks!!

her backstory is somewhat this (wip): similar to op, bellemere finds nojiko and nami the same way. she then proceeds to quit the hellguards to raise the two (bc she def ain’t putting em thru hellguard training lmao) . bc nami is able to draw maps in good detail and quick ,she sold them to people here and there and arlong (unaffiliated) found out about her skills and essentially put her to work from a young age to keep the maps for them updated (fish men would be the equivalent for someone who willingly lived in no man’s land places maybe) and bellemere gets killed by trynna stop em from taking nami away…

she initially joined the cleaners under the watchful eyes of arlong but properly escapes when luffy joins cleaners and defeats arlong and stuff
