So, I've been working on my pedal board. I decided after recording in August that I wanted to build up a collection of pedals I like rather than just using the emulated effects in my Peavey Vypyr. While I like the convenience of emulation (as you can see, I'm working my M-Audio Black Box into the effects chain), I want to be able to customize the basic workhorse effects (distortion and delay, for example) as much as I want. You can see above that I've picked up a few basic effects: a BBE 427 distortion, a Vox 845 Wah, an Electro-Harmonix Memory Boy, and (because it was super cheap) a Danelectro Black Coffee Metal Distortion. I also just recently picked up an MXR Fullbore Metal distortion pedal. The Boss FS-5L controls the overdrive on my new Vox AC30VR amp. I'm currently working on cleaning up the cord and power management, and I'm excited about having a portable and usable board with the sounds I want.
In band news, we're still rehearsing for live shows, although it looks like the show on October 12 isn't going to happen. The album is in the final stages of mixing, and mastering will begin pretty soon. We'll be running up to Austin a couple times to hear it and give input on it before it's finished up. Depending on finances and such, we should have it out by December or possibly the beginning of 2014.
I'll be getting with Ian to see about putting on some more acoustic Internet shows; I really like to see if we can also do a full-band Internet show, but there are some technical limitations that make that harder to do.
Thanks for the support.
Duane
