ask me about my demons || [x]
"I worked with the metals, in honing blades to ensure that they were kept sharp. I was good at that because I had to be, I think... I think I only truly liked it because of the furnace. But the metals—that’s what they had me do.” He spoke in reference to his servitude. While plenty of it was acting as courier, much of it was work that was too dirty for noble Orlesian hands, the drudge work that was neither fanciful or sought as compelling by those higher ranked folk. He was no blacksmith, simply a servant who aided in the drudgery that went into those deeds. Briefly the elf fumbled with his hands, the endlessly scarred skin of his palms smoothing over one another, as if feeling those uneven lines brought some comfort, as if it grounded him. “When it wasn’t the blades, it was the masks. Porcelain was the usual base, but he liked the metal, brought a bit of the brutality he liked as a chevalier. The masks—one of his men thought it funny, to tamper with them, as a prank. He caught sight of it and the accusations led to me, the last one to have handled them. They were fine when I set them to cool, they hadn’t a scratch——” And still, after all this time, Dhruastun’s instincts had him trying to explain and right the wrong he had been blamed with. “I was punished with making three-fold the amount, each one required to be flawless, only to have him rend them before my eyes. Each time I worked on masks that was required from that point on, each time.”
for the demons: abaddon, lamia, mammon
ask me about my demons || [x]abaddon: what person, place, or thing have you most wanted to destroy?
"The Gods—” The words were numb on his lips and tasted of treason, and despite the heavy weight of sorrow and wretched shame it draped around his shoulders, Dhruastun still spoke. The Gods. Blasphemy roosted in his heart long ago, when he forsake the names of those he worshiped for the single one who had wrought such treachery and pain. The poison had worked it’s way into his bloodstream, and by this point he welcomed the sting of it. “I would destroy the Gods. Destroy them for being absent, for being quiet, I would destroy them for——for closure. Let it be done, the sorrow and grief of so many whose voices are unheard, let us sever off that which pains us so, else we bleed out for eternities waiting for them. If we destroy the Gods we may be able to save ourselves in the process.”
lamia: how do you feel about children?
The most telling part is perhaps not the answer itself, but the pause beforehand. The slight shift in his vision to look away to the side paired with the subtle slide of his tongue along the inner wall of his teeth. The topic of children makes Dhruastun uneasy, it gives him pause, makes him unsure—and for someone who is so apt to talk at length about nothing at all he cannot find the words properly. It stems from not having much of a childhood himself, of being thrust into a role that did not leave room for imagination or any delight that a child is capable of. Children have wonder, and his was leeched from his bones too soon. “They are a handful, they make noise and they don’t make sense. I think--I think I may envy them.”
mammon: when were you most greedy? for what?
"My moment of greed shone the brightest when I demanded too much freedom.” No, that wasn’t entirely true, but he had thought of it to be greedy. He may have had every right to his own freedom, but the binds of servitude were difficult to loosen even after years have worn them down. A twisted sort of conditioning made him accept that personal freedom was not something everyone was privy to, and that he, taking his own in a blaze of fire and violence, was a performance of green unlike any other. “Although it may be more wrath, that one. One sin never acts alone, I’ve found. They all have a tendency to join hands in every effort. I have no greed of coin, none for wealth or luxury--but freedom, that will be my vice.”
anonymously message me with a plot & i'll respond with whether i would be interested or not, then make a starter for it.
note: this is simply to try and help people break the ice of rp'ing or for those who want to rp something off someone’s wishlist, but are just a little too shy. this can remain completely anonymous! so if you receive a plot you like you’re essentially making an open starter based on that plot unless the other person comes forward :)
