Erik had been aware for some time that his son was in Star City. He hadn’t reached out to him, and Pietro returned the favor. It was often best that he two of them had as little contact as possible, as normal conversation seemed impossible and everything turned into an argument. While he would have loved to pin all the blame for that on Pietro’s temper, part of the blame was his to shoulder.

Still, he felt that his son should be made aware of what happened with Tommy. If his plans did no go smoothly and there was, in fact, room or time for Joker to retaliate, Pietro should also know that he should look after himself. Erik could tolerate speaking to him long enough to tell him that, if he had not already heard it from Wanda.

He had asked that he meet him somewhere near the edge of Star City in the same area that he’d often met with Harvey Dent before their association came to an end. Erik felt comfortable enough assuming they would not be interrupted there. He waited. If Pietro was ever late to something, it was on purpose. 

PIETRO KNEW OF HIS FATHER’S presence in the city, but he hasn’t had the time to talk to him yet. It was no secret that the two of them don’t get along a majority of the time, and maybe that’s partially to blame on his own temper. He has been trying to be more reasonable, at least for his daughter’s sake. However, his attitude was still present to most. He always had a soft spot for family, but a bond with Erik was tough. 

He was told to meet near the edge of Star City, so Pietro raced off quick as he could leave. He stops in front of his father, arms crossed. “I would have been here sooner, but I had to drop Luna off with some friends.” He says as he steps closer to Erik. He’s unsure as to what the meeting is for, but it must be important to bring them both together to talk finally. 

Pietro glances around at their surroundings, they were pretty secluded here which was probably for the best for whatever was to be discussed.

“I’d like to see that. Don’t worry, I’m sure I’ll look terrible by then.” Steve jokes, but he doesn’t really want to think about it. He’s spent too many hours worrying about the fact that most of his friends will die while he lives on - it’s never easy, and it never ends well. So he’s happy for a distraction, instead listening to Pietro talk about his daughter. “Sounds like she’s enjoying it here, at least. That’d be great, I’d love to see her.”

“I'LL TAKE YOUR WORD FOR IT!” Pietro declares since he knows that’s all he has to go on unless he somehow travels to the future himself to check it out. He doesn’t want to really mess with something like that though. He instead focuses on talking about Luna. Who was easily one of the only things he has ever gotten right. “She is, she’s so much smarter than I am. I’ll bring her with me on our next hangout.”

“Complicated?” Enchantress repeated curiously. The explanation didn’t satisfy her at all. “Anyone can claim to be a sociopath. Tell me more. What is one thing you’ve done?”

“THERE WAS A TIME when I was defending into a sort of madness. I hurt a lot of people, even tried killing one of them.”

“Right? I defy all reason. Just imagine if I still look like this when I actually am two hundred.” Steve laughs, though he knows he probably will. It’s something that hits him pretty hard sometimes, knowing that he doesn’t age at a normal rate. He’s not even sure he’s ageing at all, it’s really too soon to tell. And definitely not something he wants to talk about right now. “That’s definitely a good sign. As long as she’s enjoying herself and making friends and seems to be happy, I’d say things are going okay.”

“IF YOU LOOK LIKE THIS when you’re two hundred I’m coming back to life and speed slapping you.” Pietro teases as he looks at his friend. Of course when that time comes he’ll be long gone to notice. He’s eating more of the food trying not to think about a day where he’ll be dead. Instead he focuses on thinking about Luna. “Yeah I think she enjoys learning about this place. It’s no Attilan, but she’s happy. I’ll have to bring her around, you won’t believe how grown she’s gotten.”

“Well, it’s not ideal but at least I look pretty good for two hundred, right?” Steve jokes easily, shrugging his shoulder as he eats a few more fries. “I figured you would be. Hopefully I got enough food.” He raises an eyebrow at Pietro’s words. “At least it’s not all bad, then. How’s she finding the city, is she doing okay?”

“YOU LOOK GREAT, those informercials will hate you.” Pietro says as he stuffs some more of the food into his mouth. He looks at the food then up at Steve. “This is plenty, trust me. Ah, it’s different for her, but she’s settling in alright. She’s making friends which is good right?”

“What sort of awful things have you done?” Enchantress asked curiously. “Tell me.” Some excitement had crept into her tone and a smile played on her lips. 

“YEAH IT’S ... COMPLICATED, but most people tend to think I’m some sociopath as they like to whisper about. I’ll tell you that much.” Pietro shrugs his shoulders.

Zach shrugged, “Cool.” Anything seemed better than loitering outside the vets. “Not really, I love it, it’s like having friends everywhere.” he said quietly, looking down as they walked, “M’just… not really up for it all right now. Y’know, after all those places got trashed the night of the ball.”

“UNDERSTANDABLE, just don’t want that attention today.” Pietro says as he glances over at Zach. “So your place was broken into? Who did it?” He asks as he shoves his hands into his pockets, making some small talk as they made their way down the street.

“And what makes you different? Being a mutant?” Enchantress crossed her arms, taking another step toward him, and her head tilted to one side. “Do you still breathe? Do you bleed?”

“I’M NOT DIFFERENT, I may be a mutant, but that doesn’t excuse some of the awful shit I've done.” Pietro shrugs his shoulders. “Obviously I do both of those things.”

“Most people are not worth my time.” Perhaps right now she was meant to be June, but Enchantress could not her disdain for human weakness. It didn’t matter; soon, they would no longer be any trouble.

“MOST PEOPLE ARE A WASTE OF air in my opinion.” Pietro shrugs his shoulders, but he meant what he said. Sometimes dealing with the public gets on his nerves, but it wasn’t hard to do that.

“Ugh… Well, there’s an artisan place a block away?” he said quietly, the place was expensive, even by his standards, but the coffee was good, and the tea, and cakes. Pity he didn’t have much of an appetite. “Starbucks usually, folks there usually recognise me more.” This place was more discrete, he didn’t feel like signing autographs right now.

“SOUNDS ALRIGHT TO ME, lead the way.” Pietro says as he wasn’t sure which block the man was talking about. He could go for some food right now of any kind. This would have to do. “Sounds frustrating having people recognize you everywhere you go.”

“YOU’RE THE WORST, one day you’ll eat those words.” Pietro teases Lorna. “Everything is going alright I suppose, nothing to complain about yet.”

Flash scoffed, rolling his eyes. “You always come along with trouble,” he pointed out, inclining his head slightly and raising an eyebrow at Pietro. “How’s your daughter?” he asked, straightening up. Flash shrugged. “Needed a change of pace, and Betts is here, so it kind of worked out. My moms ain’t too happy ‘bout it but she’s just gotta learn to deal with my pops on her own.”

PIETRO COULDN’T DENY THAT STATEMENT, but sometimes trouble doesn’t follow him too. “Not all of the time, but you’re mostly right.” He grins at him. “Luna’s really good, going to school and all of that. Making me feel old with every year.” He nods his head. “Your mom will get over it, got to do what you gotta do sometimes.”
