Nazis will never be welcome in paganism. They have no space in our communities, we will have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to nazis. You have no right to the cultures, gods and religions you hijack to spread your disgusting ideologies. You will find no refuge or comraderie amongst pagans.
Reblog to let nazis know they’re not welcome here.
Thank you, as a Norse pagan, to all white supremecists, nazis, and trumpers, get the fuck off my blog and get the fuck away from our religion
If you are a pagan devoted to a deity, please live.
Continue writing about them, please keep saying their names. Please keep worshiping them. If you can’t find the strength within yourself to live for yourself, please try to live for them.
I know it’s getting scary. I think it’s going to get scarier. But please, if nothing else. Live.
Thousands of years, hundreds of genocides and crusades and decimation of culture, and yet somehow my Lords still have followers. Somehow I’ve found them. Somehow these names still have meaning. Through all of us they still remain.
Despite the efforts of centuries of suppression and control, My Lord is still alive, because I am alive.
In our fringe little cults, even when we must whisper because we cannot scream.
and maybe one day we’ll be free to frolic in fields or dance in forests while we chant without fear.
but for now, just live. Please.
Grim's Subtle Worship Ideas for Idunna 🍎🍏
Basically my entry to @chaos-bites 's Subtle Worship series for Norse Gods
I made this in hopes of taking some of the stress of it from Stag's shoulders (and I got the go-ahead too)
eat in-season produce
take your medication safely and on time
learn more about how fruits and vegetables grow
grow a plant, ideally one that produces a fruit or vegetable, but a low effort one like a succulent works too
eat mindfully
partake in a creative hobby (think knitting, drawing, etc) that brings you joy
learn your limits and honor them
do a chore that desperately needs doing to improve your quality of life (dust with a mask if you have a dust allergy, clean out your fridge so you don't get sick from spoiled food, etc)
support environment preservation and restoration groups
clean up litter
be mindful of what you buy and throw away
exercise! doesn’t have to be a full complicated routine, just something that gets you moving and enjoy - and if you can’t enjoy it, something you can at least bear
spend some time outside - and put on sunscreen while you’re at it!
take care of yourself: shower if you haven’t in a while, brush your teeth if you haven’t today, and so forth
learn more about your local ecosystem
share an apple with her
start your own fruit and/or vegetable garden and give part of the harvest to loved ones
contribute to a community garden
make a homemade apple pie and give her a slice
give her an glass of water and ice to refresh her after a long day in the orchard
help a loved one with yardwork
I'll probably add onto this list later - I know I haven't gotten everything she'd like. Or, heck, y'all can add onto it too! I'm curious to see what else y'all would offer her.

Learn more about Norse runes; once comfortable, practice using them
Do things that benefit your future/make things easier on your future self (getting chores done ahead of time, setting money aside to save, looking into future careers/education, exercising your body and mind, etc.)
Engage in activities that stimulate your mind (reading, writing, solving puzzles, learning about something new, playing card games, etc.)
Learn to trust your own judgement and intuition; this takes time and comes with lots of practice which is ok
Practice learning when to speak and when to hold your tongue; sometimes it's better to simply listen
Practice finding your voice and speaking up for yourself; advocate for your needs
Explore things you find mysterious and intriguing; replace fear of the unknown with curiosity

Not everything that happened this year was terrible.
Would anyone like to join me in my New Year's tradition of reading about good things that happened this year?
A couple highlights:
There are now ZERO COAL POWER PLANTS in the UK. Zero! Also zero in Slovakia, which closed its last coal plant a full SIX YEARS ahead of schedule! This is great because coal is like, the dirtiest fuel source ever. It's awful for the planet, it's awful for our lungs, it's just The Worst. Goodbye and good riddance!
Last year, EU CO2 emissions fell by 8%, and the data's not all in for this year yet but they're on track to drop even more. Yeah, you read that right - the EU may have already passed peak carbon emissions. Excuse me while I do a happy dance over here in the corner - this is a BIG FUCKING DEAL!
This may have been a bad year for abortion rights in the US, but we're an outlier - over the past 30 years, we are only one of four countries to tighten abortion restrictions, while 60 countries have made it more available. This year, France became the first country in the whole world to make abortion a constitutional right. Seven US states did so too - Colorado, New York, Maryland, Montana, Nevada, Arizona and Missouri. That's right, Missouri! Shocking, huh?
A drug to prevent HIV infections was 100% effective in trials. That. That's insane. It's not a vaccine, but it is the closest we've ever been to one.
Deaths from tuberculosis, the deadliest infectious disease in the world, hit an all-time global low. Hooray for preventing a truly staggering amount of death!
Egypt and Cabo-Verde both eliminated malaria, and 17 countries started distributing the new malaria vaccine - remember that? Remember how insanely exciting it is that was now have a vaccine for malaria? It is saving lives as we speak.
Deforestation in the Amazon is half what it was two years ago.
The largest dam removal project in history was completed - removing four dams from the Klamath River, thanks to decades of activism by the Karuk and Yurok tribes. A month later, there were salmon spawning in the river basin again - for the first time in a century. Nature's pretty incredible at bouncing back, if we can just give it the chance. I repeat: Largest. Dam removal. In history!
China finished the Great Green Wall
Prewalski's horses returned to their homeland in central Kazakhstan, where they'd been missing for 200 years!
22 species were removed from the endangered list - let's hear it for the Saimaa ringed seal, Scimitar oryx, Red cockaded woodpecker, Siamese crocodile, Narwhal, Arapaima, Chipola slabshell and Fat threeridge mussels, Iberian lynx, Asiatic lions, Australian saltwater crocodile, Asian antelope, Ulūlu, Southern bluefin tuna, Sierra Nevada yellow-legged frog, Yellow-footed rock wallabies, Yangtze finless porpoise, Pookila mouse, Orange-bellied parrots, Putitor mahseer (this is a fish), Giant pandas, and Florida golden aster!
This year was deeply shitty in a lot of ways - but not all of them.
Savitribai Phule (3 January 1831 – 10 March 1897) was an Indian social reformer, educationalist, and poet from Maharashtra. She is regarded as the first female teacher of India. Along with her husband, Jyotirao Phule, she played an important and vital role in improving women’s rights in India. She is regarded as the mother of Indian feminism. Savitribai and her husband founded one of the first Indian girls’ school in Pune, at Bhide wada in 1848. She worked to abolish the discrimination and unfair treatment of people based on caste and gender. She is regarded as an important figure of the social reform movement in Maharashtra.
A philanthropist and an educationist, Phule was also a prolific Marathi writer.
She used to cycle from village to village, and people would throw stones at her on the journey.
Anyway, have this wonderful cartoon I found on twitter:
People who insist that certain spirits or entities are incapable of lying are... something to me. Like how would you even know this? Did the spirit tell you this? Isn't that just what they'd tell you if they could lie and really really wanted you to believe their lies?
Something something you are disturbingly susceptible to propaganda.
“Your Gods understand your disabilities!”
Ik!! Who do you think gave em to me!!
People will be like I love Greek mythology but I hate everything that involves incest, infidelity, violence, slavery, misogyny, undeserved suffering, questionable relationships, ethically dubious heroes and gods, and morality that is foreign to me.
I feel like more people need to learn about katharsis. And by that I mean people need to learn about mental katharsis, the process by which negative thoughts and emotions were purged by expressing them. In a lot of Greek tragedies, the horrid acts of the characters on stage (and sometimes the glorious resolution) were meant to evoke that. Even if it was in a “I may fight with my brother but at least I’ve never murdered my nephews and fed them to him” kinda way. The goal often was to make the audience feel better about themselves (and to criticize the latest enemy of the polis, but that’s another long winded explanation).
And, more people need to try to go into a study of Greek mythology with the idea of the gods as concepts. Yes, they sometimes appear to be almost human in their behavior, but then sometimes their thought processes are explicitly described as foreign to even the Greeks, or as mercurial as nature. Because the gods were both divinity and forces of nature/emotions/etc. When Zeus reveals his true form to Semele, it burns her because he is lightning. It’s not just a weapon in his arsenal, it is a part of him. When you spurn a god’s domain, you spurn them. I’m not the best at explaining this, but hopefully you get the gist.
Another thing I think people need to remember is myths serve both to explain phenomena/elements of the natural world, and societal structure. Hades and Persephone, for example. It explains the changing of the seasons, obviously, but it also connects to the maturation of young women. Kore, the unmarried maiden, the young girl, goes down to the underworld. Persephone, the wife, emerges. The girl “dies” and the wife is “born”. Does it fit our social framework? No. Does it fit the ancient Greeks’? Yes.
Idk, I’m about to start rambling so I’m going to end this here
Hekáte, Mother of Witches,
Bring fortune and joy to your followers,
Hold us close to Your cloak,
Accept our offerings of garlic and wine,
Accept our devotion of You - dear Goddess of All.
A Winter’s Prayer to Freyja
Freyja, Lady of warmth and gold,
In winter’s grasp, our hearts grow cold.
Beneath the frost, your light still gleams,
A beacon bright through frozen dreams.
Mistress of love, of hearth and flame,
We call upon your sacred name.
Wrap us in cloaks of your embrace,
And bless the weary with your grace.
Through snowbound nights and winds that bite,
Grant us courage, grant us light.
Let laughter rise and fires burn,
Until the sun and spring return.
For those who wander, lost and low,
Guide their steps through ice and snow.
For hearts that ache, for hands that freeze,
Bring peace and solace on the breeze.
O Freyja, Wild and fierce,
yet kind,In winter’s chill, your gifts we find
—A hearth, a home, a love’s embrace,
A promise of the sun’s sweet face.
Bless us now, through winter’s hold,
With strength as bright as your necklace of gold.
Hail to Freyja, through frost and storm,
Your blessings keep our spirits warm.
So may it be, this winter’s night,
That all find warmth in your radiant light.

Quick reminder for both new pagans and experienced pagans: it's normal to not always feel a deity's presence, and it's normal even if you never feel their presence. You're not doing anything wrong.
Normalise actually researching the gods you are "devotees" of.
Your gods are listening to you. Yes, even when your tears are falling and you think you are alone. You are not.
